Financial Solutions Director
London, Kenya or Nigeria
Salary – London £90- £100k; Nigeria/Kenya – based on experience, in line with local market
The Financial Solutions (FS) Director will be part of a specialist unit within Shell Foundation (SF) that builds working relationships with a range of private and public investors to mobilise capital into innovative solutions created/supported by SF.
The role will bring additional expertise and capacity, particularly in relation to carbon markets, to the existing Financial Solutions and wider SF team in order to support SF’s ongoing investments into vehicles that mobilise substantial capital toward solutions that benefit SF customer groups.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates who have strong experience investing in businesses/funds in Africa and/or India that serve low-income customers, along with:
- Significant experience/expertise in venture capital/impact investing/management consulting, with a strong focus on climate finance.
- Specific expertise working in climate finance/carbon markets, with practical experience working with/and or structuring instruments, vehicles, bonds etc that are climate focused and/or have significant carbon component.
- Strong experience working on the structuring and underwriting of innovative financial funds and products, including blended finance vehicles, impact monetization, credit enhancement products
- A proven and demonstrated interest, supported by practical experience, of sustainable development/ social investment.

The Director of Fundraising will be responsible for leading the Fundraising Team at Concern Worldwide (UK), leading the development and delivery of an effective income generation strategy to support the wider organisation strategic plans. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, this role will be a strategic leader and champion Concern Worldwide’s commitment to ensure no one lives in poverty, fear or oppression. With the opportunity to bid to a dedicated investment fund, this is an opportunity to implement innovative income generation practices and lead the team to embed these into the organisation. With the support from an engaged Fundraising Committee Board, SLT, as well as five direct reports this role will engage and motivate the whole organisation to achieve income generation success.
The successful candidate will be an experienced fundraising professional who can demonstrate innovative fundraising strategy creation and implementation that achieves successful income growth across a broad range of fundraising disciplines. This person will need to have previously managed teams or departments before and will be a strategic leader able to motivate their team, as well as working with other senior leaders. Overseeing multimillion pound income, this person will be experienced in managing large budgets and reporting at Board level.
