An exciting opportunity has come up within the small, specialised library of Anna Freud. The library supports over 600 University College London (UCL) postgraduates students and the staff of Anna Freud.
We are looking for a librarian who is able to respond to varied user needs and dedicated to providing a friendly high standard service. The role would suit an enthusiastic and responsible self-starter with strong collaboration and planning skills, who is familiar with the requirements of higher education and small specialist libraries. The post is a three-day per week job-share with one of the current librarians. Together they will support the diverse information needs of the users at Anna Freud including both staff and students.
The two part-time Librarians share the responsibility for the management, and promotion of the library’s services and resources and for ensuring the delivery of a high-quality information service that meets the needs and aims of Anna Freud.
This is a great opportunity to be involved in the planning and provision of a changing and expanding library service within a dynamic and high-profile mental health charity.
Location

Job Purpose

BTC handles HR administration tasks such as contract management and recruitment support, ensuring your time is freed up for more impactful, strategic initiative.
Main duties and responsibilities
1. Leadership and Strategy
- As a member of the SLT, you’ll contribute to the charity’s organisational leadership and strategic development, you’ll:
- Lead the development and implementation of a people strategy that will enable Empire’s staff to flourish.
- Review and strengthen our practices related to people, including internal communications, CPD and onboarding.
- Support the transition of Empire from a founder led organisation to a founder inspired charity, including through the development of a Senior Leadership Team.
2. Culture and Wellbeing
- Work with colleagues to define the Empire workplace culture, recognising the charity’s heritage, values, and future plans.
- Develop a behavioural competency framework aligned to Empire’s culture, beliefs, and strategic objectives. We have a working name of Empire DNA, but we’d like you to develop this.
- Lead on the development and implementation of practices that strengthen Empire’s culture and support people’s wellbeing at work. Work with our HR Consultant to make this practice into policy.
- Explore using an annual staff survey to evaluate and enhance culture and wellbeing.
3. Professional Development
- Provide leadership, training and support to Empire’s managers.
- Introduce a standard of line management, and support staff to develop skills and a culture to achieve this
- Train and support managers to provide clear, timely feedback.
- Develop and implement Empire’s approach to Continuous Professional Development (CPD), ensuring the charity offers training and support that enhance people’s skills and career growth.

International Programmes Manager: Local First

The role

Context

The report assesses 200 organisations annually across a core set of variables on policies and practices to tackle power and privilege imbalances within the workplace, the gender and geography of organisational leadership, and whether gender is considered in any organisations' external-facing programmatic or policy work.
In addition to the annual report, GH5050 also produces a range of other evidence-informed outputs, including thematic reports relating to equality and diversity in the workplace (e.g. on gender pay gap), and policy briefs about strategies for organisational change.
GH5050 is expanding into new sectors beyond health and will increasingly support analysis at the country level. Role Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to play a leadership role in a world-leading gender accountability and advocacy initiative. You will join a small and growing team of staff working at GH5050, taking responsibility for a large body of research and its associated impact. Role Responsibilities

This will include identifying, liaising with and guiding external writers that may be required to support the delivery of outputs.
Manage, develop and motivate a diverse team of dispersed multisectoral and multidisciplinary researchers: Responsible for line management of sector specialists (health, law/justice and economics/finance) and their teams which include consultant researchers dispersed across the globe. Ensure external communications-including stakeholder engagement: In collaboration with GH5050 communications and engagement specialists, ensuring that research outputs are disseminated for maximum impact. Developing and maintaining regular engagement and communications with organisations included in the sectoral reports (at global and national levels). Willingness to travel to present at external conferences, stakeholder meetings, and other events as appropriate.
Track impact: Develop and maintain a rigorous system to track the impact of GH5050 research and engagement. Work with communications and advocacy staff to capture and communicate impact and stories of change.
Ensure sound financial management: Budget responsibility for research projects and activities. Regular liaison with head of operations and head of budget in GH5050 to ensure that spend and projections are on track to be balanced. Ensure that research teams report expenditures according to agreed budget parameters and regulations (set by UK Charity Commission, donors, auditors).
Support resource mobilisation: In collaboration with the rest of the senior team, cultivate relationships with existing and potential supporters of the work of GH5050 and identify opportunities for new research work and collaborations. Take ownership of grant and to a limited degree peer-review academic grant proposal development.
While peer-reviewed publications are not a primary aim of GH5050, we encourage our researchers to publish in the academic literature and when they do so to practice equitable partnership practices in relation to authorship.

Person specification
· PhD level qualification preferred. If Masters level qualification then equivalent and demonstrable relevant professional level experience
· Recognised thought leader in research, preferable in relation to gender equality
· Experience conducting mixed methods research, including innovative methods of data collection, indicator development, database management, and qualitative and quantitative analysis and interpretation
· Experience in research project management, ideally within an academic and/or policy environment
· Experience in policy analysis and developing recommendations based on this analysis
· Knowledge of gender and its relationship to: (i) research/evidence methods (e.g. policy analysis); iii) opportunities/discrimination in the workplace; (iii) and/or approaches to organisational change, would be an advantage
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and experience producing clear, concise, engaging and evidence-led written outputs such as reports, policy briefs, academic papers and op-eds

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Community Education Officer plays an important role in both collaborating with communities to take part in shared learning and disseminating findings to wider audiences throughout the project, informing how it develops and boosting its impact. You will work in partnership with individuals and their communities, under the supervision of the Senior Project Manager as part of the education and advocacy programme. This will include cooperative identification of changes to the food system in Knowsley in the last century, engaging project participants in discussing those changes and raising awareness to wider audiences, supporting the project to achieve its aim of creating a shared understanding and celebrating Knowsley’s heritage and influencing strategies to shape the future of the borough, through sustained, quality engagement. You will support the Community Research Coordinator to capture qualitative and quantitative data that will inform reporting and contribute project monitoring and evaluation, participant outcomes and signposting groups & individuals to project activities with the aim of improving community participation & influence in our work.
The post holder will need to be proactive, working both independently and as part of a team, whilst managing and prioritising a busy workload.

Key Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility for leading the collaborative learning process with community stakeholders in Knowsley (e.g., community groups, local schools).
- Work with individuals, groups and communities to explore the food and farming heritage of Knowsley, creating a shared understanding of what came before Knowsley’s establishment as a Metropolitan Borough.
- Contribution towards the planning and execution of events and workshops in Knowsley in collaboration with the team at Feedback and key community stakeholders.
- Primary responsibility for creating educational resources from information obtained through delivery of Feedback Global’s Heritage Lottery Fund Project, to be utilised throughout this project and in future.
- Working alongside the project delivery team you will work to capture stories and knowledge about residents’ experiences of growing, producing and consuming local or seasonal food.
