This is a temporary role to provide senior programme and people management for our delivery team at the British Institute of Human Rights (BIHR). The role is fixed term during our Head of Policy and Programme’s maternity leave.

BIHR is made up of a talented and experienced Delivery Team who are Human Rights Act (HRA) practice specialists. For this post we are looking for an excellent manager, committed to supporting a small, busy, expert team to deliver Human Rights Act (HRA) practice, communications and policy work.

Your operational management and strategic thinking are the primary skills and experience needed. You do not need to be a subject expert in the HRA; that is the job of our Delivery Team. You must however, like all of BIHR’s team, be a champion for our work and bring the skills, knowledge and experience needed to support our team in the planning and delivery of BIHR’s objectives

This is an exciting role for someone with established management experience in the charity/voluntary sector, with a keen interest in UK human rights.

Role Summary

The successful candidate will lead all aspects of Bliss’ financial management, including our strategic approach to financial and business planning as well as supporting effective delivery of our day-to-day financial systems and processes. You will also have overall responsibility for Bliss’ core organisational support functions of HR, IT, and facilities.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate who:

• Is a CCAB qualified (or equivalent) team leader with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

• Has significant accountancy experience, with knowledge and experience of charity finance

• Has a good understanding of the financial and governance aspects of a charity, particularly the application of Charity SORP

• Has a strong understanding of business functions including HR, contract management, IT systems, and office and administrative processes

• Will enjoy working collaboratively across an organisation to drive business planning and performance.

• Has the ability to motivate, manage performance and support professional development within the Finance and Operations team.

Summary of the role:

The UK & International Finance Manager is responsible for the comprehensive financial management, planning, monitoring, and reporting of daily financial activities across HQ and country programmes. This includes providing advice to senior management on financial strategies.

The responsibilities include managing finances with strong controls, implementing policies and procedures, coordinating annual account production, and developing and monitoring the annual budget with senior finance leaders. The UK & International Finance Manager will also produce monthly management accounts and oversee payables, income, and treasury functions.

The UK & International Finance Manager will lead a team of technical and finance professionals, utilising expertise in finance systems and technical tools like SQL. The role includes international travel to set up and implement systems, migrate data, deliver training, and provide ongoing support. Overall, the UK & International Finance Manager ensures financial integrity and efficiency in global operations.

About the Role:

1. Manage the Muslim Aid HQ Finance function, ensuring continuous financial review including costs and revenue recognition.
2. Responsibility for all month end process in monthly management accounts reporting.
3. Prepare management accounts including analysis of variances and reporting to budget holders, LT and Board.
4. Ensuring UK & International purchase invoices and payment vouchers are correctly coded, authorised, recorded on the finance system, payment and dealing with queries within a timely manner.
5. Maintain the banking relationships and be up to date with financial regulations specifically regarding banking sanctions.
6. Administer payments to Country Offices in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

1. Educated to Bachelor’s degree level & hold UK Accountancy qualification (ACA, CA, ACCA or CIMA).
2. Substantial proven post qualification experience working in a similar position in an INGO, including Senior Management experience, preferably in similar context.
3. Proven experience in managing a finance team.
4. Experience of Month End Process and Management Reporting.
5. Experience of producing information for business cases or funding applications.
6. Good team work skills with the ability to work with different and sometime conflicting agendas.

An exciting position has arisen to join the fundraising team at Support Through Court - a small social justice charity that packs a big punch. We help increase access to justice for those who, due to severe cuts to legal aid, are forced to face the Civil and Family courts alone and without legal representation, often in life-changing cases such as domestic violence, eviction, and debt.

About the Team
Kinship is in the third year of delivering the first national peer support service for kinship carers in England. We have created 145 peer support groups. We have supported and trained kinship carers to create and lead their groups in a way which meets their needs.

With a new contract from the Department for Education, we’re now entering a new phase of our service with a focus on:
 

• creating 90 new sustainable peer support groups in areas of most need over 21 months;
• sustaining and developing the current 145 existing groups; and
• providing support and help to build a sustainable and welcoming community for all peer support groups across England.

This role will mobilise, develop and innovate our existing offer into a new Peer Support Community Hub with the focus on supporting sustainability and building resilience of peer support groups and their leaders. You will support and build our Kinship peer support community.

About the role
The role of the Peer Community Innovation Lead is to oversee and take accountability for sustaining kinship peer support groups across England in priority areas as part of a new hub and spoke delivery model.

In this context, your team is the centralised ‘hub’ of the service, delivering an exciting programme of training, speakers, toolkits and resources to help peer support group leaders develop, build and sustain their group well. Your team will build and develop this ‘peer support community hub’. This will include annual in person celebrations.

Your team will make sure groups feel connected and supported, learn from each other and build a powerful and resilient peer community. 

Managing a national team of three, you will develop a strategy and operational plan to build on and mobilise a new peer support community.

The type of person we’re looking for:
Dynamic and people-centred, this role is about innovating and developing a supportive community of peer support group leaders nationally in person and online. You’ll understand the power of relationships and be an excellent communicator. You’ll understand how communities hold their own power and your team will help unlock that. Innovation is key to the success of the Hub and you’ll ensure you’re using best practice and learning to develop it.

An excellent communicator, you’ll develop external specialist partnerships to support group sustainability. You’ll ensure through the National Peer Support Connector role that peer communities are connected and engaging with the new National Kinship Care Ambassador to share insight and best practice.

You’ll be comfortable with using digital technology and tools to build communities, relationships and develop resources.

The HR Manager will be responsible for leading the delivery of the Human Resources function of Bromley Mencap ensuring that we recruit, retain and develop a diverse, motivated, and skilled workforce.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

FUNDRAISING

• Be a point of contact for fundraising, ensuring a positive experience for funders and managing financial transactions to agreed fundraising policies and processes.
• Develop a regional Grant Programme, focusing on unrestricted income and feeding into fundraising management reporting. 
• Identify, research, and communicate income and partnership opportunities, working proactively with colleagues across the Group to scope fundable initiatives that provide added value. 
• Work alongside the team to develop high-quality grant funding applications, cases for support, and budgets. Complete the end-to-end process, ensuring all applications are thorough and competitive.
• Oversee grant reporting and invoicing, ensuring prompt fulfilment in line with all grant agreements and reporting requirements, liaising with relevant teams across the Group. 
• Plan, implement and manage various campaigns and activities, which may include but are not limited to local events, national events, outreach, and fundraising opportunities.

PARTNERSHIP BUILDING

• Attend networking events to build engagement and partnerships with local and national organisations.
• Build a rolling calendar of charity of the year application deadlines. Provide excellent stewardship, using innovative ways to keep all parties engaged and informed of relevant news and updates by SIG.

Post: Permanent. Full Time. On average 37 hours a week for full-time. However, if you are interested
in part-time hours, we would be delighted to hear from you.

This position attracts  a ‘Golden Hello’ of £500 in first salary payment followed by £500 on successful completion of the probation period.

Part of the role involves some overnight stays in the home. You will need to do between 1 and 2
‘sleep-ins’ per week, so the salary advertised does not include that payment, however if you
complete eight sleep-ins per month, that’s equivalent of an extra £3912 per year

Overview of Role
Our trauma informed staff specialise in providing nurture and care to children and young people
who are looked after. We work really hard to create a home environment that exceeds the needs of
the children and young people – enabling them to express their characters, feel safe and enrich their
lives.
The children and young people that we care for can demonstrate a wide range of behaviours and
can be very demanding of time, attention, and emotions. A senior residential childcare worker
advocates pro-actively for each young person’s needs, rights and views and ensures that these are
met.
They also make certain that each young person’s individuality, difference and diversity are always
appreciated and that our young people are provided with equal opportunities and are not
discriminated against. Senior residential childcare workers encourage each young person to be
involved in all aspects of their care. This will involve skill development, problem-solving and
assessment of risk, while being mindful of their individual capabilities.
The senior role is to support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in providing the best
quality childcare in a safe and trauma informed care focused environment for young people. When
on shift you will have initial responsibilities for monitoring and supervision of staff and take
responsibility for the day-to-day management, and guidance of colleagues whilst ensuring the
welfare and care of the young people.

Kingston Charitable Foundation (Kingston CF) is growing - in 3 years we’ve doubled our staff team thanks to a grant from the City Bridge Foundation and to date we’ve awarded over 130 grants to local charities, and community groups, who share our vision to build stronger communities where everyone’s needs are met.  We are a Place Based Giving scheme that is part of the London Funders movement.

We have also developed and delivered new participatory grant making programmes for the benefit of local individuals and families.

Now we’re looking for a confident, creative, and proactive Development Manager to join our small but dynamic Kingston CF family and develop and manage our fundraising development programme for both corporate and individual giving.  This role is the perfect fit for someone with entrepreneurial flair looking to make a real difference - both by helping to raise money for the Foundation’s vital work, and by ensuring our supporters feel valued and supported.

You’ll have innovative ideas to help us to secure new partnerships and nurture new and existing relationships to mobilise local giving. As an experienced fundraiser with a proven track record of securing major gifts or corporate partnerships at the four figure level, you’ll have a can-do attitude and a capability for developing strong networks and contacts.

You will be outcome orientated and a motivated self-starter with excellent communication skills too.

Experience

• At least three years of proven successful experience in major gifts or corporate partnerships fundraising of four figures or more.
• Proven ability to manage and develop diverse relationships.
• Excellent written and oral English language communication skills.
• Experience in writing and delivering persuasive copy for supporters.
• Thorough understanding of data protection and, specifically, UK GDPR requirements pertaining to fundraising and sponsorship work.
• Full understanding of fundraising guidelines the code of fundraising practice.
• Experience of using Salesforce or a similar CRM.

Essential skills

• Have excellent IT skills, including Office 365 / Excel.
• Have good communication and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
• Excellent organisational skills.

Kingston CF have no formal offices, this role is primarily home-based, with meetings in Kingston upon Thames and co-working days. 

About Kingston Charitable Foundation

Kingston CF launched as an independent charity in January 2021, following eight successful years as local community fundraising project, Love Kingston. We are a small, dedicated team with over 30 years' third sector experience between us, and we work closely with our very supportive Board of Trustees.

Our mission is to:

• Identify where social needs exist in our area through commissioning, publishing, and utilising the best research available

• Provide funds to local support groups that have the expertise to alleviate need, enrich people’s lives and improve their life chances

Background:

National FASD is dedicated to supporting people with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), their families and communities. It promotes education for professionals and public awareness about the risks of alcohol consumption during pregnancy.  National FASD is a source for information on FASD to the general public, press and to medical, social care and educational professionals. 

Role purpose:

The organisation is going through a period of growth and needs a proactive, experienced financial/admin coordinator to help us ensure our financial oversight administration runs smoothly and efficiently as we grow the organisation. This person will work closely with our Chief Executive.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Working with bookkeeper and accountants overseeing accounts, budgeting, financial reporting and management accounts 
• Preparing regular financial updates and other documentation for trustees' meetings
• Exploring ways to develop internal financial systems to sustain long-term growth
• Ensuring organisation meets reporting deadlines with HMRC, Charity Commission, Companies House
• Liaising with vendors
• Helping prepare funding bids, proposals and reports
• Working with volunteers to ensure merch sales are met and stock replenished
• Helping to identify ways to improve our organisational efficiency and efficacy
• Participating in planning and evaluation of programmes and projects
• Helping as needed with logistics and registration for events

Location:

We are willing to consider flexible arrangements, for example a split between working in the office and at home, or remote working with regular meet ups scheduled. We place a priority on engaging people with lived experience with FASD and are open to creative suggestions to make that possible to the extent we can. The national office is based in Ware, Hertfordshire, with on-site parking and within a short walking distance of the train station. 

Note:

We hope this position might be extended at the end of the 12-month contract, if funding is available.
 

Person specification

The ideal candidate will be dynamic and creative, energised by the idea of contributing to a charity with an important mission. Candidates should be at ease with computers and budgeting, and be ready to work with a team of consultants, colleagues and like-minded organisations to ensure National FASD is implementing best practices financially and administratively with sensitivity for our key stakeholders and under the guidance of our trustees. 

Qualifications: 

• Preferably at least 3 years’ experience working in a related field, either in paid work or through volunteering
• DBS check is required

Knowledge:

•  Experience with FASD (or another neurodevelopmental condition) either through professional experience or lived experience is preferred
• Familiarity with the charitable/third sector

Skills, abilities, competencies:

• Ability to work independently and juggle several projects
• Must have experience using a range of computer programmes such as Quickbooks, Microsoft Word, Excel, and/or an ability to easily learn new computer software

Essential Experience: 

• Experience tracking charity budgets and accounts, including tracking restricted and unrestricted funding
• Experience with administrative responsibilities
• Experience with how a small charity runs

Preferred experience:

• Experience with vendor and stakeholder relations
• Experience tracking and managing product sales
• Marketing experience a bonus

Personal attributes:

• Creative and dynamic approach to solving challenges and planning
