Deaf Unity is a deaf-led charity empowering deaf people. We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive, passionate and highly-organised individual tomanage the administration of our busy BSL training and services, and in implementing strategies to promote these services to new businesses and individuals to grow this area of our charity at this exciting stage of our development.

Income generated from training and courses goes back into the charity to fund our work with deaf school leavers, deaf job seekers and workers and out in the community. Job Summary
The Training and Services Manager is responsible for the comprehensive administration, management and promotion of Deaf Unity’s British Sign Language (BSL) training, interpreting services, Deaf Awareness, and other related training courses. This role includes managing course logistics and the freelance team delivering training, monitoring email communications, promoting services, liaising with students, clients and teachers, maintaining the CRM system, handling invoicing, capturing feedback, and managing evaluations. The ideal candidate will be organised, communicative, and committed to providing exceptional service to our clients and students while meeting sales targets.
Location: London – initially fully remote with some ad hoc site visits. Potential for future hybrid role.
Reports to: CEO
Line management responsibilities: freelance BSL teachers and trainers, and freelance communication support team
Job Type: 35 hours per week, salary £30k-£35k
Key Responsibilities
1. Service Management and Administration:

Oversee the administration of all services such as BSL courses, interpreting services, Deaf Awareness, and other related training courses.

Schedule and coordinate external training sessions and courses, ensuring all logistical details are managed effectively.

Monitor and respond to emails in designated inboxes related to training and services.

Manage freelance trainers and teachers to ensure the smooth delivery of all courses.

Manage freelance interpreters and CSWs to ensure the smooth delivery of communication support services.

Ensure compliance with Deaf Unity’s policies and procedures (e.g. finance, safeguarding, health and safety, EDI) in every aspect of service delivery
2. Promotion of Courses and Services:

Develop and implement strategies to promote training, courses and interpreting services to potential clients and students.

Conduct outreach and build relationships with organisations, businesses, and individuals to increase course enrolment, and training opportunities.

Utilise various marketing channels, including social media, email campaigns, and partnerships, to promote courses.

Meet or exceed sales targets for course enrolments and sales of training programmes.
3. Client, Student, and Teacher Support:

Act as the primary point of contact for students, clients, and teachers, providing exceptional customer service and support.

Assist with course registration, answer queries, and provide detailed information about training programs.

Maintain strong relationships with existing clients, students, and teachers, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded.
4. CRM and Invoicing:

Keep the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system up to date with accurate and relevant information.

Generate and manage invoices for BSL and training courses.

Track payments and follow up on outstanding invoices to ensure timely payment.
5. Feedback and Evaluation:

Capture feedback from students, clients, and teachers through surveys, or other appropriate methods.

Analyse feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance course quality and delivery.

Prepare and present evaluation reports to senior management, highlighting key findings and recommendations.

About us:
Hospice at Home’s core service is its skilled team of Registered Nurses and Healthcare Assistants who provide exceptional care and support in people’s last year of life and at end of life, also providing additional services such as Lymphoedema, Bereavement and Family Support, Befriending, Occupational Therapy and Complementary Therapy.
We provide individualised care and support to improve quality of life and our end of life care helps facilitate a peaceful and dignified death in the home and support to those who are bereaved.
Although we receive some funding from the NHS, we need to raise over 85% of our running costs in order to ensure that this vital help is available when needed and remains free of charge to patients and their families. Our Fundraising team plays a huge part in raising these vital funds.
Our clinical service area covers a mixture of urban and rural communities, a region of approximately 1,500 square miles throughout North and East Cumbria.

Senior Trusts Fundraising Officer – Maternity Cover

Trusts fundraising programme
• Research and make approaches, pitches, submissions and applications to charitable trusts and foundations (both in the UK and overseas territories within SPANA’s global fundraising programme, such as Australia), to meet agreed annual targets.
• Actively contribute to the delivery of the trust fundraising strategy, including working to identify and research potential new sources of trust, statutory and multilateral funding, to meet agreed targets.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of an annual work plan and pipeline for the trust fundraising programme, including time-sensitive applications, to grow income.
• Assist in the development and submission of funding applications to statutory and multilateral sources (such as the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and United Nations), working with colleagues to identify opportunities and develop projects and proposals.
• Write clear, concise and compelling proposals, and feedback reports for successful applications, and submit in a timely manner.
• Develop new and existing trust relationships through exemplary stewardship (feedback reports, mailings, phone calls, face to face, etc) to maximise long-term income, secure new sources of funding, upgrade existing levels of giving, repeat donations and multi-year funding.
• Work with SPANA colleagues to identify and maintain a list of suitable projects (that would particularly appeal to potential trust funders) and provide appropriate narrative and financial feedback reports on specific projects and restricted funds (for funders and internal purposes).
• Organise events, visits, meetings and other appropriate activities as required, to encourage and maintain support from trusts
• Assist in the development of events for trusts and major donors and represent SPANA at both SPANA events and external meetings, to cultivate relationships with the aim of securing income.
• Contribute to the development and production of SPANA fundraising, marketing and communications materials, to support trusts fundraising activities.
• Programme support and administration
• Work to a set income and expenditure budget, setting targets in collaboration with line manager.
• Provide regular reports and information on progress, targets and income generated.
• Maintain accurate records of trusts fundraising activities on our CRM database.
• Ensure all work runs to set procedures and timelines, whilst providing exemplary stewardship.
• Provide general administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the trusts fundraising programme.
Other
• Ensure all SPANA’s trust fundraising activities are legally compliant, in keeping with our values and adherent to due diligence and our Acceptance or Refusal of Donations Policy.
• Assist with activities across the Fundraising Relationships team, such as providing project proposals, feedback reports and thanking, particularly during peak times and holidays.

The Supporter Care team is responsible for providing the highest level of customer care to everyone who interacts with and supports Dementia UK. As the Supporter Care Officer, you will help maintain and drive fundraising growth across various income streams. You will achieve this by ensuring the best possible supporter experience for all our donors and by proactively improving processes and ways of working to support this overarching responsibility.
Reporting to the Supporter Care Manager, the Supporter Care Officer will deliver excellent customer care to supporters and potential supporters of Dementia UK. You will respond to enquiries via post, email, and telephone, and will be responsible for thanking our supporters by adapting and personalising templates to deliver high-quality thank you letters.
You will also work closely with our database to maintain the quality of information available and assist with gift processing. This includes handling sensitive data, such as credit card information, confidently and securely. Additionally, you will support all teams across fundraising and assist the Supporter Care Manager in identifying processes that could be improved, ensuring our database accurately captures our income.
To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience delivering high standards of customer service over the telephone, with the ability to handle enquiries diplomatically and sensitively. You will have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a small team, building relationships with both colleagues and supporters.

Job Purpose
- Supporting the Director of Operations and working alongside the Professional Development Manager, you will have responsibility for the management of all the Chartered Institute’s existing qualifications.
- You will be responsible for the academic integrity of qualification-related learning products, including responsibility for the assessment and external verification processes.
- You will also be responsible for project managing the rewrite of our Level 4 Certificate and Level 5 Diploma qualifications through a team of experienced tutors.
- You will scope the opportunity to deliver a Level 3 and Level 6 qualification for future release, offering modular options for students.
- In addition, you will contribute to our journey to achieving awarding status from Ofqual and work with the Executive Director of Change on the final stage of our chartered status, achieving the power to award Individual chartered status for fundraisers.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide support to potential, current, and future students including advising on suitable courses and qualifications, assessment, and options for their career path.
- Maintain excellent relationships with the Chief Examiner, External Examiner, and qualification tutors in relation to assignments or examinations.
- Attend the annual Exam Board (and qualification faculty training days) supporting the administration as appropriate.

Your challenge? To provide advice, support, advocacy and key work for recovery plans and undertake elements of assessment and case management as directed.
