Job Title: People Advisor

*This role sits within a pay grade with a pay range of £26,360 to £41,540. Purpose of Role
The People Advisor role will pay a pivotal role in delivering the People Plan at the Ramblers and creating a truly great place to work.
The role holder will support projects, activities and administration related across the whole employee life cycle at the Ramblers – actively engaging in the attraction, recruitment, development and retention of talent.
The role will also support the delivery of our business outcomes through a data-led approach to people decision-making.
Key responsibilities
Lead on all People processes, and administration required to maintain a high performing People team.
Proactively manage all data in our People systems, ensuring complete accuracy
Providing first line advice to employees on general people policies and queries and escalate complex issues to the Head of People Experience
Support People projects that drive the delivery of our strategic ambitions
Recruitment and Onboarding
Management of our application tracking platform to attract key talent
Work closely with managers to complete all required documentation.
Provide recruiting teams with training and support throughout the recruitment process.
Liaise with agencies and social media platforms to ensure we are optimising recruitment channels.
Deliver a great recruitment experience in conjunction with key stakeholders across the Ramblers.
Provide a great onboarding experience for all new starters and ensure all documentation and checks are completed timely manner.
Ensure all staff are correctly added to our People systems and provided with appropriate training.
Performance Management and Development
Facilitate the processing of probationary reviews in a timely manner, including the completion of required documentation.
Support managers and staff with our Performance Management and Development process.
Ensure compliance training has been completed in a timely manner.
Liaise with external providers to co-ordinate the delivery of the Rambles training and development plan.
Management of our learning platform
Staff Engagement
Support the co-ordination of our staff surveys and action plans.
Promote programmes that promote wellbeing and staff engagement.
Co-ordinate stay and exit interviews.
Contractual
Ensure all absence management is managed in a timely manner, recorded appropriately on the People system and associated documentation has been completed.
Ensure contractual changes are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
Responsible for the collation, preparation and checking of payroll information not limited to all new starter/ leaver information, pay changes, position changes etc, for submission to payroll for processing.
Maintain good knowledge and understanding of all relevant policies and procedures relevant to the role and keep up to date with employment legislation.

Experience of working in a HR generalist or advisor role in a fast-paced business

About the Help Chapter
The Help chapter brings together our core services responsible for responding to incoming enquiries from supporters, beneficiaries, and members of the public, including managing and responding to feedback and complaints.
About the role
As a Chapter Member at the National Deaf Children's Society, you'll be in a Chapter of like-minded and skilled specialists, experts, and emerging experts. Chapters are self-organising, and every member has a vital role to play, sharing their skills, knowledge and experience and learning and developing together. Led by the Chapter Lead all Chapter Members will value and respect each other's contribution and learn and develop collaboratively.
This role will design, implement and manage systems to ensure that fundraising and marketing activity is of a high quality, complies with relevant legislation and sector codes and is consistent with National Deaf Children’s Society policies.
You will carry out a programme of detailed quality assurance activity and monitoring to identify areas where improvements can be made and provide fundraising teams with recommended actions. This work has a particular focus on the management of telemarketing and face to face recruitment.
You will prepare reports for internal teams and stakeholders and provide support and guidance to fundraising staff in relation to compliance and what is required of them.
You will network effectively with peers across the sector and engage with external regulatory and sector bodies, such as the Fundraising Regulator, the CIOF, the DMA and the ICO, to ensure that the organisation is aware of all relevant developments and our views and priorities are taken into consideration; actively participating in sector consultations, meetings and working groups as appropriate.
Occasional travel will be required to shadow and monitor compliance training and to support our fundraising agencies.
What might a day in the life look like?
- Take ownership of and manage our internal Call Monitoring process – selecting and allocating calls from our agencies and listening to the majority to recognise any potential issues or trends that may arise.
- To follow up any feedback with the agencies and ensure they are compliant with fundraising code of practice.
- Updating and monitoring the site lists on our websites to ensure our supporters know where we are.
- Attend monthly and ad-hoc compliance forums and engage with external bodies to ensure we are maintaining standards across the sector. A chance to network with peers and even offer insight into our best practise.
- Quarterly due diligence checks with our agencies, along with monitoring of job adverts and contracts to ensure compliance.
- To manage and monitor our Mystery Shopping programme – engaging with the agencies regarding feedback and follow up, and approving invoices.
- A monthly compliance tracker to be shared internally so we know our key areas of focus.
- Management of our fundraising shadowing programme, with the occasional visits to our agencies for compliance training, feedback and shadowing.
- To help the organisation to deliver excellent standards of supporter care by providing cover for the team where necessary.
- To identify compliance issues which require follow-up or investigation and to conduct or direct any internal investigation.
- To conduct periodic audits (including National Deaf Children’s Society’s fundraising suppliers) to ensure that compliance procedures are followed and that compliance systems are effective.

We are looking for a Senior Learning and Research Analyst to join our International Programmes and Research Team. Supported by our Learning and Impact Manager and working alongside our Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Analyst and team of researchers, you will be responsible for consolidating and managing a central database and knowledge system that will underpin Peace Direct’s learning loop with specific emphasis on locally-led peacebuilding initiatives in Afghanistan, eastern DRC, Mali and Sudan.
This work is integral to our decolonised ways of working and will form an important part of our multi-year ‘Local First: Transforming the Peacebuilding System’ programme funded by the Dutch MfA.
This is a role for someone with a passion for peacebuilding and local leadership and a strong commitment to shifting power in the international system. You will have excellent analytical skills with experience of developing research, information or MEL systems in the international development sector.
Working in partnership with peacebuilders in francophone countries means the ability to work in French (proficiency level B2 or above) is a must and as such will be tested in interview. Added to this is the requirement for experience of processing qualitative and quantitative data using various approaches, including working with local knowledge systems, which will be highly valuable in this role.

Young Marketeers
This much-loved programme was started in London in 2012. It is now running in 12 cities across England and is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund for three years. The programme provides hands-on opportunities for children from primary schools to grow fruit and veg from seed to sell at their local market. Young Marketeers is also a platform for School Food Matters to promote food education to schools and communities as a way to support children to live happy and healthy lives. Children learn the art of growing veg from seed, and market traders will share their secrets on how to create a winning market stall. Primary schools will be visited by our gardener in March/April and then again in May/June and receive further tips on how to ensure a bumper crop. And in July, they head to the market to sell their produce, and to meet the mayor!
Key Tasks include:
· Recruit four schools to take part in Young Marketeers
· Build and maintain relationships with teachers, teaching assistants and senior leaders to ensure the smooth running of the project

The Felix Project is London’s leading food redistribution charity, dedicated to ensuring good food is never wasted and no one goes hungry. Last year, our nearly 180 staff and over 15,000 volunteers collected 32 million meals of surplus food, distributing it to Londoners in need through a network of over 1,100 community organisations, charities, and schools.

Based in Harrow, we are a not-for-profit co-operative owned by our workers. We have in-depth knowledge of the local area and of who’s doing what.
