Senior Youth Work Practitioner - Central Bedfordshire Youth Support Service

Permanent with funding until June 2027 (plus potential funding for a further 2 years)

Hours: 21 hours - Part time (hours can be negotiated).

Salary: £29,855.00 per annum, pro-rata

Location:  Central Bedfordshire

This post will involve irregular hours, including late evenings, and occasional weekend working. There will be travel primarily within Central Bedfordshire, access to own transport will therefore be required.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Youth Work Practitioner with a passion for excellence in practice and service delivery. As the Senior Youth Work Practitioner, you will play a pivotal role in the mobilisation of our service and ensuring high-quality youth work that not only meets the needs of young people in our community but gives them an opportunity to shape it.

You will also lead alongside the Safe Practice Manager to manage and inspire a team of youth workers, sessional staff and volunteers providing guidance, support and professional development.

We will be providing a range of services across Central Bedfordshire through five youth centres, activity-based sessions, detached/community work, school-based provision and individual support for children and young people.

This role sits within our Youth Impact domain, which provides direct service delivery for children, young people and families who need our support. Your role will help us develop innovative practice across Central Bedfordshire.

In order to be successful in this role, you must have: 

-Proven experience in a similar role within youth work or related field

-Strong leadership and team management skills

-Demonstrated ability to create and deliver high-quality youth work programmes alongside young people

-The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with young people, stake holders, and community partners

-Competence to monitor and report on the progress and outcomes of the service

Programme Overview

The Restart programme offers enhanced support to Universal Credit claimants who have been out of work for at least 6 months to find jobs in their local area. Starting at the end of June 2021, it will benefit more than 1 million Universal Credit claimants who are expected to look for and be available for work but have no sustained learnings. The scheme will provide up to 12 months of tailored support for each participant. Palladium will work with employers, local government, and other partners to deliver tailored support for individuals.

There are two roles, one based in Southampton and the other based in Eastleigh

The Employment Advisor will play a vital role in the success of the programme. They will be in charge of managing a case load of customers, working with them to create and follow an individualised workplan towards sustained employment. They have the ability to be a catalyst for change and really empower people to progress.

Primary Duties and responsibilities:

• Take responsibility and accountability for customers as assigned and working with them through to employment. This will include:
•  Assessing the customer’s starting position to decide how to best meet their needs. 
• Building rapport and a positive working relationship with each customer.
• Creating and following through with individualised action plans ensuring appropriate and effective activity is undertaken by each customer.
•  Address customer’s personal constraints to employment, providing challenge, advice, and guidance where appropriate to develop customers capability in the recruitment process ensuring they have the necessary skills and confidence to secure employment.
•  Identify, structure, and recommend vacancy and training solutions, working in close consultation with the team to meet the specific needs of customers and employers.
•  Maintain customer records to a required quality standard to ensure the customer journey is documented in accordance with our quality standards and contractual requirements.
•  Develop an understanding of specialist signposting services in the local area/region, building knowledge in areas such as specific disabilities, housing, benefits etc

Right now, we’re looking for a self-motivated individual to join us at our Recovery Near You service in Wolverhampton. This is a substance misuse service that works with adults aged 18+ and is run in partnership with Nacro and Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust.

Your challenge? To provide advice, support, advocacy and key work for recovery plans and undertake elements of assessment and case management as directed. You’ll work not only from Aquarius offices, but also in primary care, arrest referral, hospital and youth settings and other outreach settings as required. And, all the while, we’ll expect you to operate in a way that recognises and values diversity and understands the functional model of substance misuse, the Recovery Agenda and the problems caused by alcohol and drug misuse.

Preferably with a NVQ 2/3 in Social Care, or willing to attain this, you can work within policy and procedural requirements that include child protection, vulnerable adults, confidentiality and health & safety. We’ll also be looking for good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and fulfil data requirements. A flexible approach is important too, as is commitment to taking a client centred approach to providing services and working in a way that recognises and values diversity.

Aquarius was a subsidiary of Richmond Fellowship, with both organisations being part of Recovery Focus, a national group of charities highly experienced in providing specialist support services to individuals and families living with the effects of mental ill health, drug and alcohol use, gambling and domestic violence. On 1st June 2024 Richmond Fellowship merged with Humankind to form a single organisation that provides the joined-up mental health, housing and drug and alcohol support we’ve all known has been needed for decades. AAFDA was founded by Frank Mullane in memory of his sister Julia Pemberton and her son Will who were both killed by her ex-partner in 2003.

Each year, around 150 families lose a loved one to domestic homicide. The actual number of suicides as a result of domestic abuse remains unknown.  Most of these families suffer significant problems including relationship breakdown, job difficulties/loss and mental and physical health issues. We help these families in many ways, our prime function being to provide families in England and Wales with specialist peer support and expert and specialist advocacy for the range of statutory reviews that will take place after domestic homicide.

AAFDA (Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse) is a growing Charity and to meet the demands of this growth, we are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our team in a highly rewarding opportunity. Although home based, some travel will be required - frequency will be commensurate to the role. Our Specialist Advocates support families impacted by fatal domestic abuse through provision of lay advocacy for and on behalf of families with a range of statutory service providers (e.g. those conducting reviews and inquiries, social services, police, housing) and work to build good relations between all parties.  To ensure that families get the support they need, you will use AAFDA’s Home Office endorsed seven-step approach to working with individuals and families, to ensure that they receive the best possible support and advocacy to restore dignity and relief for families and to help them cope and recover. Through trauma-informed approaches, you will:

• listen to families and advocate for them in a complex system that too often treats them as passive participants and overlooks the value of their insight;
• provide information, support, guidance, advice and advocacy on Domestic Homicide Reviews, Mental Health Reviews, Inquests, Independent Office of Police Conduct inquiries and other types of Inquiries;
• manage families’ expectations of the legal and procedural processes facing them by supporting families in meetings with agencies such as health, police and local authorities;
• give families practical help on a wide range of issues - including help with letter writing or advocating with employers and local authorities on the families’ behalf;
• Support AAFDA in our bringing families together in AAFDA’s peer support events, such as the Hear Our Voice weekend and the on-line peer support Zoom sessions, where families can speak with others to share their experiences and stories. This will involve occasional evening work.

We are looking for a full-time Substance Misuse Recovery Worker based in Bridlington.

The Alcohol & Drug Service (ADS) are a registered charity who have been transforming the lives of people affected by drugs and alcohol misuse for over 40 years.

East Riding Partnership (ERP) – is a partnership between ADS and Humber Teaching NHS trust. It has three hubs, Hull, Bridlington and Goole. It is multi-disciplinary team led by a consultant and provides treatment services in the community. The services include aftercare, young people, community rehabilitation programme, a specialist supporting image and performing enhancing drugs/steroids and a team supporting service users and cares through a team of volunteers and peer mentors.

It is a very exciting time to be working in the drug and alcohol field, with significant new career opportunities being created.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative team, based in Bridlington. The role will support service users with diverse and complex needs and their families with issues relating to substance use including alcohol. The post would involve assessing need from a person centred and strength-based perspective. You will have a good understanding of recovery and have a value base that stems from a strongly held working belief in individuals’ ability to change and live in recovery along with a desire to ensure each service user has access to the information and 'tools' needed to live a fulfilling life in recovery.

You will be working as part of the Ormiston Families Interventions Team, within the YOUnited partnership (Ormiston Families, Centre 33, Cambridgeshire Community Services and Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Foundation Trust).  YOUnited provides a single point of access for all referrals for CYP in need of support with their mental health across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Ormiston Families work with CYP aged 5-13 with mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing needs

We are seeking candidates who are dedicated to improving services and want to make a positive difference for children and young people. You will provide short-term therapeutic interventions for children with mild to moderate mental health issues, offering a blend of face to face and online counselling sessions. 

You will join a supportive team where clinical supervision is provided. We are also very keen to develop our service as a provider of high-quality trainee counsellor placements. We are also committed to the ‘Single Sessions Thinking’ model and training will be provided as this has proved to be very successful.

Successful candidates will:

• Be a qualified counsellor and BACP registered. 
• Have a good understanding of the needs of children, young people and their families aged 5-12. 
• Have significant (minimum 12 months) post-qualification experience working with this age group. 
• Have A good understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to keeping CYP safe.

The main office is in March, Cambridgeshire but successful candidates will work from home, with most counselling sessions undertaken in schools. An ability to travel across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough is essential.
