Job description

Our Young Lives service offers specialised practical, emotional and social support for asylum-seeking and refugee children and young people. The service aims to provide trauma-informed care that can be accessed by families or individual young people.

We provide:

  • Intensive support and link work to help families and young people access other Action Foundation services and external community services.
  • Regular youth groups in Newcastle and Gateshead along with social, sporting, and educational activities to enrich lives both in and outside school.
  • One-to-one support sessions providing guidance and pastoral care, along with confidence and resilience-building activities in collaboration with trusted partners. The service emphasises the importance of listening to young people with lived experiences of migration, involving them in decision-making processes to create effective programmes designed by the people who use them. Read more here.

We are looking for two Youth Workers who are passionate about working with vulnerable children and young people who will work closely with other Youth Workers under the oversight and guidance of the Young Lives Project Manager. The successful candidates will deliver activity sessions, support sessions and do some administrative work. They will also play an important role in developing our delivery model and other operational planning to improve the Young Lives service.

Action Foundation is an Equal Opportunity employer and we welcome applications from all sectors of the community, particularly those who have lived experience of migration. We also have a strong focus on safeguarding in the organisation and a DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check will be part of the recruitment process.
