Our director retires in May after five succesful years and we seek a dynamic and experienced leader to sustain, supportand refresh the organisation's work.
Based in Oxford and splitting time between office, home and places where we work, the new director will lead a team of about 30 staff and 200 volunteers delivering a wide range of programmes meeting the needs of new arrivals, longer term refugees, adults and children.

About the Role
Legal Advisors at Freedom from Torture deliver expert, detailed, advice to treatment clients and their clinicians on all areas of asylum and immigration law. There is a particular focus on complex, appeals rights exhausted cases where there is a risk of detention, and on supporting clients who are unrepresented. Legal Advisors review evidence produced by clinicians for use in clients’ asylum and immigration cases, ensuring that it complies with the standards required of a professional witness. Legal Advisors are also responsible for delivering internal and external training on a range of legal issues affecting torture survivors within the immigration and asylum system in the UK.
We are seeking to recruit Locum Legal Advisors to provide additional capacity to the team when needed. The Locum Legal Advisors may be asked to undertake any tasks covered by the Legal Advisor Job Description accompanying this advertisement. Although we are unable to offer guaranteed hours, we may be able to offer up to three days per week in early 2025. The role will be hybrid and attendance at either of our Manchester or London centres may be required.

About You
You will be a qualified legal professional: a solicitor, barrister, or OISC accredited at Level Three, with expertise in immigration and asylum law, particularly in relation to the legal protections available to survivors of torture. You will have experience of advising and representing clients in the Tribunals and Courts, including in judicial review claims. You will be able to communicate effectively and sensitively with people who have experienced trauma and will be able to build professional relationships with a variety of colleagues both internally and externally. You will share our commitment to working with and empowering people who have experienced torture.

JOB SUMMARY
Taking overall responsibility for the delivery of a compliant and effective operation, she will provide direct line management for the Pathway Project domestic and sexual violence support, outreach and helpline teams. She will be responsible for the delivery of high quality support within the safe accommodation sites and excellent quality of service within Pathway Projects counselling provision. She will have a focus on excellence and understand the drive for continual improvement and increased performance. She will collaborate with colleagues to drive the development and maintenance of networking and fundraising links within the local community. She will support the CEO in her leadership and development of the organisation. She will be expected to demonstrate the Charity’s values by working positively as part of a team, delivering vital high-quality services to service users, and creating a working culture where all are valued and encouraged.
DUTIES OF POST
1. STRATEGY, PLANNING AND CONTROL
a. To contribute to the setting of long-term Objectives, along with the CEO & Board.
b. To implement and deliver the strategic plan for the operation, adhering to regulatory and financial controls.
c. To ensure the Charity is operated to best practice standards, adhering to regulatory and financial controls. Highlighting to the CEO risk which could cause harm to the ongoing operation of the Charity.
d. Ensure Pathway Project remains responsive to the needs of its service users, staff and trustees and can demonstrate the value of the services provided and the impact of its work.
e. Be an expert on matters relating to Domestic Abuse, and best practice in supporting end users.
2. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
a. To be accountable for the delivery of the operation, within defined financial criteria, including business plan & cash flow targets.
b. Support the CEO in providing oversight on the wider financial performance of the Charity.
c. To understand the income generation strategy and collaborate to develop it as required.
d. To support the CEO in the sourcing of funding opportunities and complete any required applications and any required data returns as per funding guidelines.
3. GOVERNANCE
a. To work with the CEO to lead and manage the Charity in accordance with the articles of association and in line with the obligations of the Charity Commission.
b. To support in the development of a best practice operating infrastructure, to allow the Trustee Board to fulfil its statutory responsibilities and exercise effective control.
c. To maintain up to date policies and procedures.
d. To provide support and guidance to the CEO in all aspects of the running of the charity.
e. To ensure accurate record keeping and data security
4. LEADERSHIP
a. To provide role model leadership to the Pathway Project, embodying the charity’s values and behaviours.
b. To ensure robust recruitment and training processes are in place.
c. To provide continuous development to, and performance management of the team, ensuring the highest standards are delivered.
d. To monitor and manage the quality of service delivery.
e. To work with the team, CEO and Board to provide a safe, and motivating work environment.
f. To provide line management to all staff who deliver client facing services including domestic and sexual abuse teams, safe accommodation team, counselling team and children’s services.

5. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
a. To support Pathway Project in the maintenance and development of community links and fundraising opportunities.
b. To link into the Head of enabling services around income generation and the development of a Community Fundraising Group supported by volunteers.
c. To support Pathway Project CEO, managers and Community Engagement Worker with driving Pathway Projects social media agenda in order to build community support.
d. To be Pathway Projects front facing liaison for community fundraising and support.
e. To attend meetings, as and when appropriate. including out of normal office hours if necessary
6. GENERAL MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION
a. To arrange outreach team/staff meetings which positively support the team.
b. To attend management meetings, and where required, Board or Sub Board meetings.
c. To take part in the equitable recruitment of new staff, to deploy existing staff effectively and to motivate and manage the activity of staff ensuring that they effectively contribute to the achievements of Pathway goals and to their own personal development .
d. To participate in the on-call management rota for accommodation support when covering for staff absence or sickness.
e. To help support the continued use and development of OnTrack case management and database system throughout Pathway Project.
f. To ensure the Pathway maintains strong links with local agencies and helps support the domestic abuse agenda through sharing of data and attendance at meetings.
g. To deputise for the CEO where required, alongside other management.
h. To lead on operational projects for the organisation as the main point of contact and oversee work that needs completing, e.g. maintenance of building, service contracts alongside the Finance Manager.
7. OTHER DUTIES
a. To participate and contribute as a senior member of staff towards the development of the Pathway Project.
b. To attend and participate in all relevant meetings, including feeding back to management and trustee meetings and the AGM.
c. To represent Pathway Project and the work it does with external agencies, including written reports and presentations.
d. Carrying out any other task that may be required from time to time in the interests of the effective administration and development of the project, including participating in training and delivering presentations.
e. Ensure that all responsibilities are undertaken in an effective, ethical, and appropriate manner, meeting the standards of Pathway Project.
f. Maintain effective networks with all principal supporters and stakeholders. To actively seek opportunities to expand and promote the role of Pathway within the local community.

Person Specification
Essential
- Demonstrable experience of working in the domestic abuse charity sector and expert knowledge of the domestic abuse sector
- Experience in managing teams at a high level with strong team building and leadership skills
- An understanding of compliance and continual service improvement to ensure quality assurance and service improvements

We're seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Specialist Multiple Disadvantage Worker (SMDW). In this role, you will play a vital role in supporting people who face severe and multiple disadvantages to transition from street homeless into supported accommodation. You will have a leadership role within a multidisciplinary team ensuring that opportunities for engagement with health and social care services are successful for a client group who typically face many barriers to engagement.
About the role:
As the Specialist Multiple Disadvantage Worker, you will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with referral agencies and leading on all assessments into King George's, ensuring that clients and prospecting clients of SHP receiving a psychologically informed introduction to our service.
In your role, you will maintain a small caseload of clients with a recent and often very entrenched history of rough sleeping who often have difficult and complex relationships with services. You will support the team to make and maintain relationships with external services, and lead on MDT meetings, safeguarding issues, and overseeing in-reach clinics.
Additionally, you will support relevant Service/Team Managers, in providing guidance and advice to Project Workers on relevant housing and support tools and resources.
You will be 1 of 2 Specialist Multiple Disadvantage Worker's and part of a large team including: 7 Complex Needs Project Workers; 2 Night Concierges and Night Security; a Complex Need Health Navigator; a Recovery Opportunities Co-ordinator (ROC); a Psychologist; 2 Team Managers; 1 Regional Service Manager. We also receive a whole host of in-reach at the service including Substance Misuse workers; Occupational Therapists, Nurses and GPs.
About you:
- Demonstrable experience of working clients with complex needs such as Mental Health, Substance use or Physical Health needs.
- Experience of working with homeless service users, and a good understanding of the working methods of residential schemes.

We have a vacancy for a Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join the fantastic team at our Grimsby animal hospital. Applicants must be MRCVS and have demonstrable experience in a small animal practice. Many of our vets hold certificates or have special interests and are more than happy to share their knowledge and help you develop your clinical skills. Our hospitals see a high caseload of emergency and critical care cases, both surgical and medical, so good knowledge within those areas is essential.
We are looking for a vet with a caring attitude to animals and owners who will be able to communicate well with colleagues and clients. Together with our Senior Vet team you will be responsible for recruitment and effective line management of our team of vets, holding regular, supportive 1:1s and performance reviews. You will be supported by the Head Veterinary Surgeon, with whom you will be working closely.

Key responsibilities of the role
This role will complete assessments and provide 1:1 information, advice, and guidance to a caseload of patients. Support will be based around enabling patients to find and/or retain employment, using a patient-led approach and SMART goals. Specific examples of support include CV writing, interview preparation, and broader job search techniques and approaches.
The post-holder will also be required to maintain appropriate patient records and ensure their Caseload Management Tool is continuously updated.
The post-holder will be flexible in their approach, working a hybrid model with some time spent in the office, some time spent co-locating in external premises, and some time spent working from home.

About the role
The post-holder will deliver a high-quality counselling service to survivors and victims of domestic and sexual violence (aged 18+) that is trauma-informed, ethical and supports key outcomes. Supporting the Lead Counsellor and the wider counselling team to develop and maintain a safe, professional and accessible service.
Managing a caseload of clients accessing short to medium term counselling, providing face to face, telephone and online counselling sessions. Where clients are engaged with the criminal justice system ensuring that they are working to Pre-Trail Therapy guidance.
The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities. The post holder will work within a multi-agency setting and communicate regularly with other agencies.

Tasks and responsibilities
1. CLINICAL
· Assess and support people impacted by abuse and violence in need of therapy by delivering interventions as appropriate and supporting them in the self-management of their recovery.
· Undertake clinical assessments and make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the service referral protocols, refering unsuitable clients on to the relevant appropriate services or back to the referral agent as necessary, ensuring open communication with the individual throughout.
· Deliver trauma-informed short term counselling over a 8-10 week period with individuals.
· Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.
· Ensure that records of all activity are kept up to date for all clients in line with service protocols, best practice and the requirements of relevant statutory agencies records, including using OASIS case management system to report all support activity and monitoring information as required.
· Work closely with other members of the team ensuring onward referrals, or escalations are managed appropriately.
· Assess and integrate issues impacting recovery into therapy to support the individual holistically.
· To attend regular line management, monthly clinical supervision and participate in team meetings and peer review, to ensure safe practice.
· Escalate and safeguard risk where appropriate and respond accordingly and appropriately in relation to the ‘do no harm principal’. This may include referrals to Children Social Care, MARAC or Adults social care as appropriate. Seek advice from a Senior Service Manager in the first instance to consider and support appropriate steps.
· Contribute to the development of service policies, protocols, guidelines and strategies within area of practice as necessary.
· Coordinate and accommodate multiagency working, sharing information pertaining to risk at all times, and with a view to best support the individual throughout their journey, ensuring they are fully informed throughout.
2. PROFESSIONAL
· Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating counselling bodies (i.e. BACP, UKCP, NCPS) and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (e.g. National Institute for Clinical Excellence, RESPECT).
