The Role
Steward, nurture and develop existing relationships with local business and corporate supporters.

The Candidate
Minimum 2 years fundraising experience

About the role:

This role is home based with some travel requirements for meetings, training and occasional visits to a local office. You will need to work one Saturday a month with a day off in lieu.

Our Victim Awareness Course is a rehabilitative course designed to reduce reoffending thro?ugh increasing victim empathy and improving attitudes and thinking towards crime.

Like the Speed Awareness Course, it is not designed to humiliate or hold offenders to account but it is intended to educate them to understand the impact that their actions & choices have had on victims, their loved-ones, themselves and the wider community.

As a VAC administrator you will be:

• the first point of contact for all those needing to complete one of our interventions and our partners.
• manage all of the referrals coming into the project using a case management system and work towards increasing our confirmed bookings.
• provide a high quality administration service whilst being compassionate and non-judgemental responding to queries efficiently.
• manage a demanding workload and will need to be able to prioritise effectively and work in a methodical way.

You will need:

• Experience of carrying out a variety of administration tasks including writing letters, managing bookings and responding to internal and external queries in a professional way.
• The ability to communicate with people at all levels; offenders, police, partner agencies, facilitators and volunteers both in verbal and written format.
• Experience of using a case management system to record client information and manage course bookings.
• To demonstrate effective and compassionate customer service across a diverse customer base.

We are seeking 2 individuals in casual roles as Women's Teams Safeguarding & Welfare Oversight Leads.

These casual roles will work flexibly for up to 130 days per season, based primarily at St. Georges Park (nr. Burton Upon Trent). Working as an extension of The FA's Strategic Safeguarding Team, the roles will support the Senior Safeguarding Manager to embed Safeguarding across the Women's Technical Division.

Each role will oversee approx. 3 casual Designated Safeguarding and Welfare Leads (DSWL), ensuring that all England Women's Development Team events and camps are allocated a DSWL.

Note: Due to the level of flexibility and experience required for these roles, we are particularly interested in applications from people;

• in existing flexible roles with safeguarding and welfare remits or who are retired;
• with experience from teaching, youth work or specific safeguarding roles.

Post holders would be contracted initially until 31 July 2025.

What Will You Be Doing?

• Oversee the work of a small team of Casual Designated Safeguarding and Welfare Leads (DSWL), ensuring all England Women's Development Team events and camps have a Designated Lead deployed to the event. Be the primary point of contact to support the DSWL in their roles during deployment.
• Provide coverage as a DSWL for those camps & events where a DSWL may become unavailable, sometimes at short notice.
• Carry out Safeguarding Plans and Risk Assessment for England Women's camps and events and provide support to the pre-event recce process, where necessary.
• Provide advice and guidance to England Women's Teams with regards to safeguarding matters, including with regards to understanding and compliance with England Women's Safeguarding Policies and Safer Working Practice Guidance.
• Deliver safeguarding briefings, training and workshops to staff, players and parents/carers across England Women's Development Teams, via both in person and virtual classroom mechanisms. Refine associated contextualised resources to support understanding and learning.
• Attend relevant pre-event planning and Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, including tournament working groups, providing safeguarding input to these processes.
• Cover the Safeguarding Duty Line (out of hours phone support) for England teams, in the absence of the Senior Safeguarding Manager.
• Support the Senior Safeguarding Manager in ensuring that all safeguarding/welfare concerns and incidents are responded to, reported and recorded using internal FA processes and systems. Support and advise colleagues on safeguarding matters and incidents.
• Support colleagues to understand their safeguarding responsibilities and ensure practice matters are raised and addressed as appropriate, escalating serious concerns in a timely manner e.g., allegation involving a member of staff, in line with FA Policy and Procedures.
• Be a point of contact for Clubs and other organisations across the player pathway, including Education Providers, to discuss matters which relate to the individual needs or safeguarding requirements of players. Work with Team Operations and the Player Education and Lifestyle Lead, with regards to liaison with players parents/carers regards safeguarding needs/requirements, including managing matters relating to child protection plans, education, health & care plans (EHCP's) and that welfare and behaviour management needs are supported, with joined-up plans in place for event delivery.
• Review post camp/event reports from DSWL's, highlighting areas of good practice, ensuring development areas are identified with clear actions, and agree follow up on those actions with the Senior Safeguarding Manager and Women's Technical colleagues.
• Support the recruitment, induction, onboarding and retention of DSWL's, ensuring they are supported in their role and are orientated to their responsibilities.
• Support the Senior Safeguarding Manager in completing a programme of camp and event Quality Assurance Visits, this will at times, involve travel both within the UK and abroad, for extended periods of time.
• Contribute to the wider work of the Strategic Safeguarding Team, including revising resources, attending/contributing to meetings, supporting safeguarding planning and risk assessments for events and complaint management as required.
• Executes additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing can be maintained.
• As part of The FA's commitment to ensuring a safe environment for everyone in football, every employee will be required to complete a DBS check. The level of the check required will be based on the activity of the specific job role and in line with legislation and government guidance.

What Will You Need?

Essential for the role:

Knowledge

• A professional safeguarding qualification and/or significant relevant experience in a safeguarding / welfare role in education, youth work or similar environment.
• Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding legislation, policy and implementation.
• Understanding of current issues that impact on the development of elite young players/athletes, particularly females in these environments.
• Sound working knowledge of data protection, information sharing and confidentiality, principles and practice.
• Sound knowledge of equality legislation and inclusive practices as they relate to safeguarding and additional vulnerability.

Experience

• Experience of implementing safeguarding policy and safer working practice guidance.
• Experience of making referrals to statutory organisations.
• Experience of risk and crisis management.
• Experience of delivering safeguarding training and CPD in sport environments.
• Experience of managing others, particularly those who have been in child facing roles.
• Experience in collaborating effectively within a multi-disciplinary setting.

Technical Skills

• Ability to deliver engaging safeguarding briefings, training and workshops to a wide range of staff and players in a way that is accessible and age appropriate.

• Excellent communication, management, presentation, and facilitation skills.
• Willingness to work flexibly, sometimes with extensive travel with national teams for extended durations.

Beneficial to have:

Knowledge

• An understanding of case management processes and the role of a Designated Safeguarding Lead in these processes.
• Understanding of women's football, professional game academies, and player pathway, and international travel involving elite teams.

Experience

• Experience of running residential activities with young people.
• Experience of working in a safeguarding role or player wellbeing role in an elite sport pathway or environment, with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Experience of differentiating learning materials and using a blended approach to learning.
• Experience of delivering safeguarding awareness learning opportunities with young people.

Technical Skills

• Completion of the FA Safeguarding Children Course or similar sports-related training.

A full driving licence will be required.

Surviving Economic Abuse (SEA) is the only UK charity dedicated to raising awareness of economic abuse and transforming responses to it. Our vision is a world in which all women and girls are economically equal and live their lives free of abuse and exploitation.

Economic abuse is a form of coercive and controlling behaviour: 95% of women who experience domestic abuse will experience economic abuse. It limits their choices and ability to access safety.

About the Compass Project

The Compass Project Coordinator will work as part of an exciting new partnership between Surviving Economic Abuse (SEA), Living Without Abuse (LWA) and RISE (Refuge, Information, Support & Education). The Compass Project seeks to develop best practice responses to economic abuse within the coordinated community response by working with local professionals to help them understand and respond to economic abuse.

About the Compass Project Coordinator role

The Compass Project Coordinator will work to:

• Act as a point of contact for stakeholders across the Project areas (Brighton & Hove, Leicester, Rutland and Leicestershire), coordinating stakeholder engagement and access to training and resources. 
• Work closely with the Interim Women’s Sector Manager to coordinate and implement the Compass Project in pilot sites.

The Compass Project Coordinator will:

1. Collaborate with Compass Project Partners to:

• Support the coordination of training and dissemination of resources to professionals across the two pilot sites.
• Identify and engage with local lived experience groups and women with experience of economic abuse, ensuring inclusion of women from minoritised groups, to inform and guide our work.
• Develop and maintain key working relationships and partnerships with various stakeholders and partners across the two local sites including the facilitation of links with money and debt advice services, and local financial services.
• Support the collection of qualitative and quantitative data from the network for the purpose of project and external evaluation.

2. Facilitating access to economic abuse training and resources:

• Develop and deliver tailored training sessions on economic abuse to enable frontline workers to recognise and respond to economic abuse.
• Work with Compass Project Partners to integrate relevant economic abuse content into existing resources.
•  Implement data collection processes to support the evaluation of the project.
• Ensure effective communication with the project group and coordination of activities across the two pilot sites. Promote and facilitate SEA’s established routes to support for survivors and professionals.
• Attend local VAWG/DA Network meetings in a consultative capacity as an expert for economic abuse.
• Work with the communications teams across project partners to effectively promote the project.
• Facilitate referrals for women to the Domestic and Financial Abuse Team at Lloyds Banking Group and other banks/building societies we have direct links into.

3. General Duties and Responsibilities

•  Represent SEA in training and presentation requests.
• Contribute to evaluation reports and presentations as required for the Compass Project.

We are looking for a domestic abuse and/or frontline community professional with an interest in developing expertise around economic abuse. In order to apply, you should have the following skills and experience:

Essential knowledge/skills/experience

• Knowledge and experience of supporting and working with victim-survivors of domestic abuse. Frontline experience of working with victim-survivors would be an advantage.
• An understanding of the coordinated community response to domestic abuse and commitment to all aspects of partnership working to improve the response.
•  A strong and demonstrable interest in economic abuse.
• Experience of developing and delivering training face to face and online.
• Strong communication and engagement skills.
• Experience of safeguarding and managing risk.
• Experience of working in partnership and managing relationships with voluntary and statutory sector agencies to enable their full participation in the partnership.

The Organisation

West Mercia Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Centre (WMRSASC) has been supporting survivors of all types of sexual abuse and sexual violence for over 35 years and provides a range of services including advocacy, therapy, education and prevention work.
WMRSASC’s vision is to eliminate all forms of sexual violence and the harm they cause. Our mission is to enable those who have been silenced by rape, sexual abuse and exploitation to have a voice; and to make a difference by delivering the best specialist support and prevention services.

The Person

About this key role

Our successful candidate will assess referred clients, with reference to St Giles Trust assessment practices, offering support to up to 20 young people per year, who are identified by local partners as most at need of support.  You will produce support and risk management plans based on these assessments, plus deliver a holistic support service, working independently or with colleagues as the situation dictates, which will involve providing practical guidance on areas such social and housing support, education, training and employment options, and benefits work.

We will count on you to develop and maintain strong relationships with referral and partner agencies, including police, Youth Offending Teams, Probation, local authorities and social services, while closing cases efficiently and positively, identifying a survival plan for the client that will identify agencies that can be used for on-going support is also a key aspect of this role.

• To have worked on an offender-led support project, had personal experience of the criminal justice system, served a prison sentence, or still be serving a prison sentence in a prison within reach of Greater Manchester

The post holder is responsible for managing these relationships, including bespoke reporting for trusts and major donors, leading donor meetings and involving our Board and CEO as appropriate.
• Donor prospecting and new business: researching and generating new donor leads as well as acting on opportunities provided by our Board and others, converting prospects into supporters of our programmes.
• ​​External communications: creating our quarterly e-newsletter to a database of ~2,000 supporters, managing our social media channels and the Annual Report, in addition to other ad hoc external communications.
• Fundraising innovation: leading on innovation in our fundraising approach, including creative campaigns to increase donations/recruit lapsed donors, developing products and offerings whilst considering cost effectiveness and ROI. Of particular interest is how to harness the giving potential of guests who are exposed to KHULA Education’s work when they visit Fugitives’ Drift Lodge in Rorke’s Drift.
• Financial management and admin: maintaining our donor database, working with the CEO to prepare our annual budget and fundraising forecasts.

Person Specification

Ideally you’ll have held a role with a similar scope of responsibilities around fundraising and communications, however you don’t need to have held a director level role before. Experience in a smaller charity and team is beneficial as you’ll need to be comfortable with both the strategic development side and inputting into wider planning, as well as being a leader who is willing to role up your sleeves and ‘do’.

We are particularly interested to hear from candidates who demonstrate most/all of the following attributes:

• A proven track record of personally delivering income of at least £1 million per year, including new business
• Experience in a fundraising leadership role and confidence in working alongside and advising at board level
• Experience in successfully fundraising from trusts, foundations, major donors and corporates, with experience in other areas (events, legacies etc.) also welcome
• Excellent proposal and donor communication writing skills (written samples of previous work will be requested)
• Self-motivated and able to work autonomously with a largely virtual team
• Comfortable acting in the capacity of charity ambassador, establishing new relationships and identifying new funding opportunities
• Ability to travel to occasional donor and board meetings (x3 per year), in/around London and annual trip to South Africa for 1-2 weeks.
