Community Fundraising Officer

About MEWSo: Middle Eastern Women and Society Organisation (MEWSo) is a women's charity run by and for women from ethnic minority communities. Job Overview: MEWSo is seeking a dynamic and experienced Fundraising Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the fundraising strategy and generate over £200,000 annual income for the organisation. The ideal candidate will have a good background in fundraising, excellent communication skills, and a passion for our mission.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
· Working with the Executive Director, ensure an effective fundraising strategy consistent with MEWSo’s business plan for sustaining the Advice Department and project activities in Islington, Westminster and pan-London
· Research and identify potential donors and their priorities
· Write fundraising applications and budgets and/or tender documents
· Proactively seek funding opportunities and maintain a pipeline of different sources of funding, including one year and multi-year grants from trusts and foundations
· Engage the Chair and Board Members in pursuing fundraising opportunities.
· Assisting in the search for opportunities for tendering, contracts and grant applications to funders and donors
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date information on all submissions, grant-funded projects and donors
· Produce regular fundraising activity reports to track and monitor progress
· Be the first point of contact for trustees, staff and partners for all fundraising queries
· Attend fundraising events when needed
Skills/experience:
Essential:
1. Excellent understanding of the funding landscape
2. Track record in building successful donor portfolio (trust and foundations)
3. Experience of developing new funding applications from scratch
4. Experience of involving and empowering disadvantaged individuals and groups
5. Experience of liaising with statutory providers and voluntary organisations
6. Experience in building partnership work with sister organisations, ideally from the VAWG sector
7. Excellent knowledge of issues and challenges to women experiencing domestic abuse, including especially harmful practices
8. Good IT skills, MS office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point,

The Design Studio Assistant will support the delivery of material and assets that will help to raise the profile and brand awareness of Independent Age among our key audiences, as well as help us to reach new people.
You should understand design and production best practice, processes and techniques across both online and offline formats. You will be working directly with printers so should have knowledge of print materials. You will have excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure to prioritise, deliver, manage, and coordinate several projects and activities simultaneously to tight timescales. You should also have experience of providing administrative support.

The Editorial Assistant - EJN will assist the EJN Senior Editor and Content Officer at Internews' Earth Journalism Network (EJN), a global network working with journalists and media outlets in virtually every region of the world to improve the quality of climate and environmental reporting.
The Editorial Assistant will assist with the production, tracking, and distribution of EJN content, maintaining the EJN website and providing editorial support to EJN program staff across regions. DAY-TO-DAY TASKS will include:
- As directed, research and write project updates and impact stories and assist with the product of newsletters, resources and reports.

About the role
SolarAid are looking for an individual with experience of fundraising who can proactively engage, build relationships and provide high levels of stewardship to a variety of supporters, alongside increasing awareness of our work.
You will play a vital role in driving all supporter activities, such as direct mail Supporter appeals, our regular giving programme and supporting community groups and individuals with their fundraising.
Your focus will be to support all activities across Individual Giving, assisting in identifying, developing and supporting fundraising opportunities to maximise activity and income, alongside helping to create and maintain meaningful supporter journeys that strengthen the relationship between supporters and SolarAid.
You will be hands-on with assisting the Supporter Engagement Manager in leading on all direct marketing campaigns, ensuring that the process is managed effectively from start to finish. - Play a key role in achieving agreed income targets and helping to increase year-on-year.

About You

They are at a very exciting time in their development and have created a new role of Director of Fundraising & Communications to help them on their journey. This a new role that will play a crucial part in shaping the future of the charity as well as securing the resources to deliver sustainable growth in the work and impact of the charity.
Going forward their work will be delivered though a distinctive and coherent Community Hub model, which will be holistic, person-centred, integrated, joined-up, and promote a partnership approach. They also purchased The Vassall Centre in 2021, with long term plans to redevelop the site for community benefit.
In the short term they plan to relaunch the Vassall Centre as a standout, accessible, and affordable workspace venue for charitable organisations. Their community Hubs will include directly delivered Bristol Charities programmes/projects, services delivered by local partners, and services delivered by their strategic partners. They are also looking to increase the number of housing units they manage, either through development of their existing sites, through acquisition of new sites or through partnership working with other local housing providers, and any new Housing Schemes will incorporate the new Hub model.
Bristol Charities now need to recruit an experienced, passionate, and entrepreneurial fundraising professional; someone who is capable of not only overseeing a small but growing communications function, but who also recognises the importance of aligning fundraising and communications strategies and activity.
With this role, there will be the opportunity to build a fundraising function from scratch and lead on the fundraising and communications strategy for the charity, at a time of exciting change. We’re thrilled to be working with Herts Young Homelessness to recruit an Individual Giving Officer to join their small, dedicated team.
Herts Young Homelessness works with 16–24-year-olds who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness and those whose families are at risk of relationship breakdown. Their services empower young people to deal with the difficult situations in their lives, giving them the ability and confidence to 'do it themselves' and ultimately find stability.
The postholder will manage a portfolio of individual donors, providing excellent stewardship through meaningful engagement and thoughtful communications. You’ll work closely with the Head of Fundraising and Communications and the Events Officer to achieve a team target of £453,000.
To succeed in the role of Individual Giving Officer, you will need:
- An understanding of support acquisition and retention, supporter journey development and motivations for giving
- Experience of using a CRM database to support relationship management
- Understanding of developing fundraising or communication initiatives or campaigns

Job Description
The Director of Finance role is essential in maintaining the charity's fiscal health, supporting income generation, and managing financial risks. It will provide strategic support to the Executive Leadership Team and strategic direction and oversight to a large and diverse finance team, ensuring robust financial management, proactive financial planning and commercial decision support.
This role is one of the Senior Leaders of the Business Services Directorate, which includes essential support functions such as finance, HR operations, technology, data, property, procurement, audit & assurance, legal, and company secretary. The Director of Finance reports directly to the Corporate Director of Business Services, who also serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
The Director of Finance will lead a team of approximately 70 finance colleagues and manage an expenditure budget of up to £35 million.
The key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing financial strategies to support the charity's goals, ensuring the charity's funds deliver the most positive impact for children and young people.
- Supporting and driving income growth and commercial decision making in the business development, retail and fundraising teams.
- Leading and mentoring the finance team, ensuring they provide high-quality financial data and support.
- Managing the charity's reserves, investments, and treasury functions.
- Overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
- Maintaining the highest standards of financial control and compliance.
The Successful Applicant
Experience in a voluntary or public sector environment is not necessarily required. Alignment with the charity's mission and values, a strong track record and a commercial outlook is more important.
Education/Knowledge
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent) with significant financial and management accounting knowledge and an robust understanding of financial control frameworks and cash flow and treasury management.
Experience
- Experience of operating at a senior level in large complex organisations with geographically spread operational delivery models.
- Proven experience in a group accounting structure and of project management.
- Experience of engaging and influencing a range of stakeholders, including at Board level, with complex information in a clear, simple and straightforward manner which enables and empowers them to act accordingly.
- Proven track record of successful leadership, making complex decisions and recommendations and acting as a champion of change.
- Experience of collaboration and engagement with non-finance managers, including those from other specialisms, to deliver organisational and operational objectives.
- Significant experience of using financial systems and technology to drive change and efficiency. Microsoft D365 experience advantageous. Other standard package, experience (particularly Excel) also expected.
- Demonstrable ability to plan and organise high volume workloads and conflicting scheduling and client priorities for the department ensuring timely achievement of deadlines.

This is a hybrid working role and requires attendance on average once per week at Barnardo's offices, either in Euston or at a Regional Office (this may vary week to week).
