An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Community Organising team to work across the Local Activism team to support Activism Representatives, Local Groups, and Regional Networks across the UK.
Local groups are a vital part of Amnesty International UK's movement. Made up of dedicated members and individuals, they volunteer to promote Amnesty's work in their local areas. These groups have formal structures with appointed roles such as Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer, and undertake a broad range of activities, including raising awareness about human rights issues, advocating for individual cases, and fundraising. Currently, there are 120 affiliated local groups across the UK, each operating in its local town or city. Recently, some local groups have formed regional networks which cover wider areas. These groups function across the 13 Amnesty regions, each represented by an Activism Representative elected by local groups to support their activities. While local groups primarily work within their areas, they also participate in regional and national events, such as the Annual General Meeting and National Conference (Human Rights Festival).
About the role
This role is in the Local Activism Team which is responsible for enabling and empowering more people and partners in communities throughout the UK to use their skills, connections, knowledge and passion to campaign together for positive human rights change. The role report to a Senior Community Organiser.
The Local Groups Administrator is accountable for:
- Monitoring & Evaluating local group and network campaign activities, analysing impact, and reporting progress, including through yearly surveys.
- Coordinating Check-ins via phone or in-person with local groups and regional networks.
- System Updates: Reviewing and updating internal systems to ensure local groups and regional networks have resources to campaign effectively.
- Training & Guides: Developing and delivering training sessions, guides, and planning packs to equip activists.
It also supports regional and local activist teams to build and diversify the Amnesty movement in and with their communities.

Purpose of your Job:
This is an exciting new role at Centre 33 and will play a key role to support the advancement and successful implementation of an operational plan to fundraise across Corporate and Community opportunities.
We would like to hear from ambitious fundraisers who have experience in these income streams, maybe as a team member, who is looking for the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge further within Centre 33’s growing Fundraising department. The role holder will work closely with the Development & Partnerships Lead and Director of Development & Partnerships to help create an operational plan and will then have ownership of delivering the plan and the associated income target. This will include identifying opportunities, creating cases for support, and arranging engaging and productive events for existing and potential partners. There will also be the opportunity to feed into the Communications team on external campaigns that the charity develops to build awareness and showcase Centre 33’s amazing work, including an upcoming capital appeal. You will also work closely with the Operations and Finance teams to understand the charity’s services and funding needs, and to ensure timely sharing of programme information to facilitate funding applications and reporting to existing grant holders. You will support the Development & Partnerships Lead and other team members with Trust and Foundation applications and other fundraising activities as required.
You will be confident establishing new and growing existing meaningful relationships and will maintain clear records of progress in our CRM (Donorfy). Working with colleagues across the organisation, you will prepare high-quality communications, proposals and pitches which demonstrate our deep understanding of young people’s needs and help us to successfully meet our fundraising goals.

OVERVIEW
Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service (Rising Sun) is an independent charity in Kent working to prevent domestic abuse and improve the lives of survivors and their children suffering from its effects. We have an ambitious vision for a world in which women and children live free from actual or threatened domestic abuse and all forms of violence.
Our team provide a range of services to adults and children who’ve experienced domestic abuse. We understand the impact of domestic abuse on survivors and so we listen to individual needs and respond in a trauma informed way. We provide one-to-one support and also deliver therapeutically informed group programmes to help survivors to recognise healthy/unhealthy behaviours in relationships and to understand the impact of domestic abuse. Bringing survivors together validates experiences and enables them to draw strength from one another.
As a Rising Sun Administrator you will be a key member of our frontline team working alongside specialist domestic abuse workers and providing essential support as a valued member of the team.
You will be involved in a range of tasks that contribute to the smooth running of our services, including processing incoming referrals and answering our main office phoneline, dealing with referral queries as well as supporting survivors to access support. You will also be involved in coordinating our group programmes for survivors, and our One Stop Shop drop ins.
As the first point of contact for both professionals and survivors you will be instrumental in ensuring they feel heard and supported, through your empathetic and understanding response.
In addition to day to day administrative tasks you will have the opportunity to attend training and learn about our domestic abuse services and the Rising Sun Framework which underpins everything we do. There are also regular team meetings and activities to promote wellbeing which are a great way to get to know your amazing colleagues.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Admin Tasks
- Process incoming referrals to our services
- Liaise with referrers and team members as required and respond to queries efficiently
- Coordinate participants and materials for survivor group programmes and team training sessions
- Coordinate the rota for One Stop Shop drop-ins
- Respond to enquiries received via our phone or admin email account
- Work as part of a team to ensure the phone line is answered at times advertised on our website and coordinate call-backs to survivors from DA workers if needed
- Provide one-off/short term support to survivors calling the phone line, such as listening, information about available services, basic safety planning, completing a referral form
- Input information to spreadsheets and our case management system
- Develop our administrative processes to improve effectiveness

About the role
We are looking for an outstanding Senior Press Officer to work in our fast-paced press office, helping run it to the highest standard. RCS England is one of the most high-profile health commentators in the UK. You will regularly see us advocating for patients and the surgical workforce in the national press. Recent highlights include coverage of our workforce census in The Telegraph and The Independent. Our Faculty of Dental Surgery has also been very vocal about children’s oral health. Candidates should have experience of successfully pitching stories to national media, and know what makes a good health story. You will have a fluent writing style, and be confident working with senior stakeholders to brief them before interviews.
Responsibilities
- Handle incoming enquiries and provide accurate, timely and appropriate responses, briefing journalists in line with RCS England key messages and priorities.
- Participate in an out-of-hours rota for media enquiries. Time off in lieu is offered for significant out-of-office hours worked.
- Research, write and distribute press releases, features, letters and other editorial material.
- Draft articles, quotes and opinion pieces on behalf of RCS England spokespeople.
- Provide press office support to the Faculty of Dental Surgery and its Dean, as required.
- Brief the President, Council Members and senior managers on issues arising in the media.
- Act as the press lead for key projects such as RCS England guidance or campaigns. Devising and implementing communications plans, sharing project updates with the wider communications team, and maintaining a good understanding of surgical and wider health issues.
- Horizon scan for media opportunities and develop your own ideas for health coverage based on data, insights or RCS England priorities.
- Brief, support and prepare RCS England spokespeople for media interviews.
- Establish and maintain professional and trusted relationships with national and trade journalists.
- Represent the RCS England at internal and external meetings, and maintain professional relationships with press and communications leads at stakeholder organisations.
- Monitor daily media coverage relevant to surgery and the RCS England. This includes pulling together the team’s daily press cuts to be shared with Council members, Trustees, and key RCS England staff by 10am (subject to urgent media enquiries).
- Maintain and update the media sections of the RCS England website, working with the web team to develop rich digital content. Actively participate in developing our social media profile using Twitter, Facebook, and commissioning and editing relevant blogs.
- Produce evaluation reports of media coverage and communications activity.
- Undertake such duties appropriate to the grade, as required by your line manager.
About you
- Degree educated or proven extensive experience that can demonstrate the essential criteria below.
- At least two years’ experience of working in a press office.
- Experience of writing and editing for a variety of media including print and the internet.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint packages.
- Demonstrable experience of placing stories in the media.
- Rigour in researching and reviewing content: able to identify key points, summarise findings and report data and conclusions accurately.

We are looking for a Health Communications Specialist to develop engaging evidence-based information for the public and key professionals on cancer risk, prevention, early diagnosis and screening. Cancer Research UK is the most trusted provider of cancer information in the UK and you will be responsible for helping steer what we say and how we say it, ensuring our health information is evidence based, accessible and credible.
What will I be doing?
Developing a sound knowledge base of globally published key research on cancer risk, prevention, early diagnosis and screening. This will include regular monitoring of recently published papers as well as deep dives to help answer specific questions (this will include research funded by Cancer Research UK and others).
Taking the lead on critiquing epidemiological evidence for specific topic areas, including contributing to team discussions and written summaries for these topics.
Producing accurate, engaging and enabling content for the general public on cancer risk, prevention, early diagnosis and screening for our audiences through a range of channels. This includes leaflets, newsletters, webpages, digital articles and social media, with a focus on using these resources to tackle inequalities and barriers facing groups with the worst cancer outcomes.
Building relationships with stakeholders - guiding activity and delivering evidence-based, creative health-related content that meets user needs (e.g., for press / fundraising / policy / campaigns activity).

The Oasis Hub Waterloo team are currently looking for a Foodbank Trusts & Corporate Fundraiser to raise much-needed funds for our Waterloo Foodbank and other strategic partners.
The successful applicant would be responsible for writing funding bids for trusts, and also developing relationships with local businesses, to increase our unrestricted corporate income.
Some of the duties of this newly created role include:
· Research and identify potential short- and long-term funders from among grant making trusts and statutory bodies.
