We are especially interested in people whose childhood experiences - of life on a low income, of migration, of being in a racialised community, of the care system, of being LGBT+ or in an LGBT+ family or living with (or with someone with) a disability - help us to see things we might otherwise miss. Whatever your story is we want to hear it because we know that different voices, ideas, perspectives and knowledge, working together will enable us to better the lives of children around the world. This is the reason why we are all here.

Background
Every three minutes someone in the UK develops dementia: a progressive and complex condition that can be devastating for the whole family. One in two of us will be affected by dementia in our lifetime – either by caring for someone with the condition, developing it ourselves, or both.
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nursing charity that is there for the whole family. Our specialist nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, provide free, expert advice, support and understanding to help families care for their loved one. Every day, Admiral Nurses help families up and down the country to have the best life possible, for as long as possible.
Purpose of the job/about the role
Dementia UK has entered into an exciting three-year corporate partnership with a national partner to bring face-to-face Admiral Nursing to the high street at locations across the UK.
You will be working within a defined area within one of the following regions, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, England (Northern, Central, South-West, South-East, and London).
As part of the national Clinics Programme Team, you will provide in-person biopsychosocial support and advice, sharing your specialist dementia nursing expertise to help families manage the complexities of the condition. Your focus will be on supporting family carers, people affected by dementia, and professionals who require specialist dementia guidance in areas of the UK where Admiral Nurse services are currently unavailable, bringing a much-needed service directly to local communities. Throughout your work, you will consistently promote Admiral Nursing and a family-centred approach to dementia care.
You will receive full support with your continuous professional development from the Admiral Nurse Academy.
As this unique nursing role offers you the opportunity to travel within your defined region, which may include some overnight stays, flexibility will be essential. When not delivering face-to-face clinics, you will work from home, which may include providing support on our Admiral Nurse Helpline.
To apply, you must be a registered nurse with the NMC, have significant experience in dementia care, and demonstrate a history of supporting people with dementia and their families and carers.
This is a truly exciting and varied role where your expertise will have a genuine impact on people in need of support that would otherwise not be available in their locality. Join us in making a difference to the lives of those affected by dementia and helping ensure no one faces dementia alone.
Our culture
In addition to a competitive salary and a generous benefits package, we truly value our people. It’s important for us to create a working environment that looks after our workforce to achieve their full potential. You will become part of a diverse and dedicated team who are supported to use and develop their skills. We recognise and value the key role you will play in delivering our strategic plans for the benefit of those living with dementia.
Our staff have a voice. Representatives from different roles and levels across the organisation positively contribute and lead on our working groups around health and wellbeing, menopause, and equality, diversity and inclusion.
Dementia UK is proud to welcome everyone, we aim for a truly inclusive culture with talented, diverse teams that represent a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We celebrate difference and individuality and encourage everyone to join us and be their whole selves always.
Poverty is not God's plan. You are.
As Tearfund's Internal Communications and Engagement Officer you will play a critical role in inspiring, connecting and informing almost 1,000 staff across the globe to work towards our mission: to see people freed from poverty, living transformed lives and reaching their God-given potential.
We are a small, friendly and creative team with a passion for a fairer and more just world.
You will be working on our weekly publication, on live events, on standalone communication campaigns, on video and podcast editing, proofreading, corporate communications and plenty more.
Interested? Here is what we are after
- You are an excellent writer using plain English as our primary working language.
- You have a nose for a good story and know how to source it and tell it.
- You can spot a typo at 100 paces.
- You can run an internal communications campaign from start to finish, using insight, creativity and analytics.

We are delighted to be recruiting for a Director to lead Respond, in our final year in our current strategy. This is also a new role, developed within the context of change following an in-principle agreement that Respond will join the Bild Group of charities in 2024.
Respond is entering its thirty fourth year as a charity and has grown from a small London based charity to a medium sized national charity in recent years. Our mission is to reduce the impact of trauma in the lives of people with learning disabilities and autistic people, by developing trusting relationships, through psychotherapeutically informed services.
As Director you will be the clinical and safeguarding lead across Bild group and will lead Respond to fulfil its mission of reducing the impact of trauma in the lives of people with learning disabilities, autistic people and their families. You will champion our highly regarded trauma informed advocacy and psychotherapy services and ensure appropriate clinical governance processes are in place. You will also work in collaboration with Bild to continue to develop the Respond branded training and consultation service and develop key stakeholder relationships within the sector, enhancing Responds reputation, encouraging partnership working and supporting the diversification of income generation.
It is an exciting time to join Respond as we join Bild group of charities. We recognise that this is a specialist leadership role for someone who is passionate about reducing the impact of trauma in the lives of autistic people and people with learning disabilities and their families.
Therefore, this new role may attract candidates with a variety of skills and experiences, and we’re keen to encourage diversity, inclusion and authenticity across Respond in line with our ongoing work within our EDI action plan. You may be just the right candidate. We really look forward to hearing from you.

Each is an independent charity with their own governance arrangements, who share a number of back-office functions including communications, admin, HR and IT.
Collectively, the Bild Group work with people with lived experience to promote best practice, improve lives, champion human rights and build a more inclusive society that empowers and enables people to thrive.
Further information about Respond
An important part of our work at Respond is working in a trauma-informed way. What this means for us is that we hold in mind the impact of trauma at all levels of the organisation, and all staff take part in reflective practice.
We provide a range of trauma-informed services for children, young people, adults and professionals. These include psychotherapy, advocacy, campaigning, training and other support services. The work we do is generally long term in recognition of research that clients with autism and learning disabilities who have experienced abuse and trauma take longer to process their trauma and to recover.
We are keen to encourage applications from a diverse range of candidates including people with lived experience, who are both interested in working in partnership to provide support, as well as supporting people with learning disabilities and autistic people who have experienced trauma.
We are committed to the furthering of human rights, equality, and positive social change through our therapeutic and advocacy work and are committed to anti-racism and other forms of anti-discriminatory practice. We recognise that we need to continually keep this as a focus in our work and as an integral part of our organisational strategy.
We celebrate diversity as an employer and as a provider of services to people who often experience multiple discriminations because of (but not limited to) being autistic or having a learning disability and experiences of trauma.

We have a bold plan for the next five years, and need someone who can support the team to deliver in line with our values.
As a member of the leadership team, you’ll secure funding for and lead delivery of our own research projects, and research projects with the transport industry, academia, charities and other organisations. This isn’t about gathering yet more evidence – it’s about responding to the lived experience of our diverse community and using research and training to drive change.
Recent projects including collaborating with Sustrans on the Disabled Citizens Inquiry into Walking and Wheeling, facilitating product testing by disabled people of an external organisation’s app for planning barrier-free walking, wheeling and cycling routes, and grant-funded research into removing barriers to accessing transport concessionary schemes. You’ll also lead and develop our Disability Equality Training offering – disabled-led training sessions for transport practitioners that lead to a culture change in the sector.
This is a new role, and the post holder will have opportunities to shape the scope and ways of working of the role – and the wider organisation – to aid delivery of the strategy. As a result, please note that the role is not limited to the elements included here, and has potential to evolve.
We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of disability or chronic illness.
