We sort out problems together, for good, by providing free, independent, confidential and impartial advice across all areas of social welfare law, and through using the experience of our clients to bring about positive change through research and campaigns.
Citizens Advice Southwark has been awarded funding by City Bridge Foundation to provide a welfare benefits advice service for Southwark residents and we are now seeking to recruit a full time welfare benefits caseworker.
The caseworker will be based between our two main offices in Peckham and Walworth and will assist with raising awareness and completing benefit claims, advocating on behalf of clients and submitting reviews and appeals. The caseworker will also train a team of volunteers to increase capacity and expertise and will act in a consultancy role for generalist advisers and frontline workers in other agencies in the borough.
To be successful you will need:
- At least one year’s full time (or part time equivalent) paid or unpaid recent experience of advice work.
- An in-depth knowledge of welfare benefits including those related to disability and sickness.
- To understand, empathise with and be committed to the Service’s aims, principles and equal opportunities policies

About you
As our Fundraising Executive – Face to Face you will play a pivotal role in our fundraising strategy. Role Overview
We are looking for a talented fundraiser to join our small and supportive team. The Fundraising Officer (Trusts & Foundations & Events) is a new role to our charity and will play a key part in supporting our future plans.

Following their sons’ diagnosis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), Emily Reuben and Alex Johnson founded Duchenne UK in 2012. We are an ambitious, dynamic and impactful charity.
DMD is a devastating progressive condition diagnosed in early childhood which causes all the muscles in the body to gradually weaken. There are currently only very limited treatment options for DMD, so Emily and Alex set up Duchenne UK to change this.
Since 2012, we have raised more than £27 million to end the devastating impact of DMD. We fund ground-breaking scientific research to find effective treatments. We’ve developed the infrastructure of DMD clinical trial delivery in the UK. We engage industry and regulators to accelerate access to treatments. And we’re here to support every family affected and ensure that they receive the best possible care. We aim not only to improve quality of live but stop the disease in its tracks. We’re doing it faster too, because this generation of patients can’t wait.
Alex and Emily were awarded OBEs in The King’s Birthday Honours List in 2023 in recognition of their services to charity and to people living with DMD. They, and the dedicated and effective team they have built at Duchenne UK, are now at the forefront of this work in the UK.

Job Description
This role plays a key part in advancing the fundraising of Duchenne UK to enable more investment into research, advancing treatments and supporting the DMD community. Momentum Children’s Charity’s fundraising team is highly ambitious, driven by our goal to help families of seriously ill children in London, Surrey and Sussex to keep moving forward. But with our expansion in hospital partnership geography, and aspiration to provide support to more families in the future, the expansion of this income stream will be key to this growth.

About Women in Prison
Women in Prison is a national, women-led, feminist organisation. We deliver front line support to women harmed by the criminal justice system, through our work in prisons, in the community and ‘through the prison gate’ as they resettle back into their communities.
