Your new role

• Reporting to the Management Accountant.
• Producing regular monthly journals, including intercompany recharges, accruals and prepayments etc.
• Assisting with the production of monthly management accounts/budget holder reports for designated departments.
• Undertaking preliminary variance analysis between budgets, forecasts and actuals and drafting variance commentary.
• Calculating, recording, monitoring and payment of grants.
• Investigating discrepancies and unexpected variances, making corrections if required.
• Undertaking ad-hoc analysis.
• Assisting in review and preparation of phased budgets, financial plans and forecasts and loading budgets and forecasts into SAP.

What you'll need to succeed

• Strong Excel skills and experience with manipulating large volumes of data.
• Experience of working in the finance function of a large organisation, including in a management accounting context.
• Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and basic accounting adjustments such as accruals, prepayments and fixed assets.
• Either part-qualified or looking to start studying.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to prioritise, remain calm under pressure, meet deadlines and have a flexible approach to work.

The Role

As a Strategy and Portfolio Office Administrator, you will ensure the smooth running of our strategy and portfolio operations as part of our SPO (Strategy and Portfolio Office).

Working closely with project and support teams and internal departments, you will maintain accurate records of our portfolio, ensuring risk registers and project data are up-to-date.

You will support governance meetings by preparing agendas, drafting minutes, and following up on actions.

We are a small, lively and expanding charity promoting the personal development of young people in partner schools, through challenging activities that they design, plan and finally undertake adult free. We invite students (usually in groups) to develop their own challenges, something they want to do but which is well outside their ‘comfort zones’ and to be responsible for every stage of them: we provide planning support, risk management, and expenses funding. Our award winners have climbed the highest UK peaks, cycled to Paris, performed plays at school, harnessed green power via a bike, among many other imaginative and ambitious projects.   

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an energetic, talented and reliable candidate to coordinate our schools’ outreach team, inspiring high-quality applications for funding from Year 12s. We are at an exciting stage of growth, now in 20% of London schools, so there is great scope to shape our strategic direction, including cultivating our alumni network of previous award winners.  We are looking for competent leader, ideally with experience of risk and physical challenge, and strong administrative skills, who is comfortable working with schools. He/she will be keen to work with a growing charity, and to support young people usually with a poverty of experience and opportunity.

The post is up to 4-5 days per week, based in Southwark, with frequent travel to schools across London. The salary is £30,000 – £35,000 pa pro rata depending on experience. Flexible working considered.

Sightsavers is looking for a Carbon Data Analyst to play a leading role in the carbon data activities of the organisation

Location: UK remote - with occasional travel to Haywards Heath, West Sussex when required

The Carbon Data Analyst will provide high quality carbon data and carbon reporting and is specifically responsible for ensuring Sightsavers is meeting regulatory and non-regulatory carbon data reporting requirements. The postholder will have opportunities to make improvements to processes and systems, and provide data and information to support the organisation's informed decision-making regarding carbon emissions.

You'll need to have good data analysis skills with the ability to ask questions and look for anomalies.

To succeed in this role you will also need:

• A good understanding of calculation techniques and environmental and carbon accounting and reporting standards
• Strong climate change knowledge
• Experience of improving carbon data capture processes/systems
• Membership of IEMA is desirable
• Knowledge of The Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting. Standard is desirable
• Experience of managing an EMS is desirable
• Experience of monitoring and target setting
• Willingness and desire to acquire knowledge and understanding of the practices across the countries in which we operate
• The ability to plan and work effectively as part of a team
• Awareness of the overseas development context gained preferably through working in the sector or overseas development would be useful
• The ability to communicate with people from other countries and cultures
• Strong analytical skills, preferably using Power Query
• Experience with Power BI would be an advantage

An exciting new role to work within the Project Management Office (PMO) team; the Project Support Coordinator will support the Project Manager and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in delivering a vast range of projects across the business. The role will include the maintaining project and programme documentation including project plans, risk and issue logs and reporting dashboards. 

You will be reporting to the Head of PMO. 

What you will do: 
 

Project/Programme Support: 

• To assist in the production and maintenance of project plans, risk registers, issues logs, lessons learnt reports and other project related documents. 

• To support all Programme Boards – including managing agendas and ensuring the actions, issues, risks and decisions are logged appropriately. 

• Co-ordinate short-term projects/campaigns with the support of a project manager. 

General PMO Support: 

• Develop a strong understanding of our project management tool (Smartsheets). 

• Fulfil requests from across the organisation to build sheets, forms and reports (using Smartsheets). 

• Organise, attend, and participate in supplier meetings where required. 

• Providing ad-hoc support to project managers and teams as required. 

About you: 

• Excellent communication and organisational skills and will involve liaising at all levels internally as well as working externally with external suppliers. 

• Strong analytical abilities – proficient in using tools to support delivery of effective processes, identifying the optimum way of implementing a solution. 

• An interest in project management. 

• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment. 

• Organised with good attention to detail. 

• Good team player, self-motivated and positive attitude. 

Key Skills & Experience: 

• At least 1 years’ experience in a project support management role and/or business-related experience with relevant qualifications.

• Ability to work to tight deadlines.

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join us in the brand new role of Governance and Executive Officer.

You will provide proactive and efficient secretariat and administrative support to the Executive and Non-Executive Teams, working closely with the Leadership Team to support the fulfilment of their day-to-day tasks and strategic objectives.

The role includes supporting and organising meetings and reports, and minuting of executive meetings. In addition to general PA and administrative duties, you will provide a cohesive secretariat function to support the smooth and efficient operation of the Mind THNR Board and its sub-committees.

You will work closely with the  Leadership Team to set agendas, monitor action logs, and provide a high level of support to the Board. You will share collective responsibility for supporting the delivery of business objectives, through active engagement and collaboration with colleagues at all levels in the organisation

This role is flexible in terms of days and hours, although you need to attend Board meetings in person, once a quarter in the evening and committee meetings, which are also in the evening, but on line, so three evening meetings a quarter. We are based in a beautiful office in Tower Hamlets, with lots of outside space and a café, so ideally you would be present in the office two or three days a week ( if full time).
