This key role sits within a specialised unit that fosters collaboration with a diverse range of private and public investors to channel capital into innovative financial solutions backed by Shell Foundation.

Reporting to the Head of Financial Solutions, the Financial Solutions Associate will enhance the capacity of the team, supporting Shell Foundation's investments in vehicles that direct capital toward solutions benefiting underserved populations and key customer groups. This role will play a crucial part in managing portfolio reporting and analysis for internal purposes, including Board and Senior Management reviews, as well as for external stakeholders and funding partners. A significant responsibility will be the development of a new Financial Solutions portfolio dashboard and improved management tools aligned with strategic reporting goals. Additionally, the Associate will work alongside the team to scope, identify, and assess new investment opportunities in financial intermediaries, with a strong focus on climate finance and innovative financial vehicles.

We are seeking an experienced financial analyst with commercial acumen and a deep interest in impact investing. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in venture capital, impact investing, or experience in management consulting or accounting. A strong background in financial and business analysis, portfolio management, and structuring innovative financial products -particularly blended finance vehicles - is essential. Experience in investing in businesses or funds in Africa or India that serve low-income customers, along with knowledge of climate or gender finance, would be an asset.

Your new role

• Cash management - monitor daily cash balances and cash flow projections to support operational needs.
• Banking relationships - cultivate and maintain strong relationships with banking partners, serving as the main point of contact for treasury-related matters. Coordinate bank account opening, closing, and management.
• Cash forecasting - develop and maintain cash forecasting models to accurately predict short-term and long-term cash requirements. Analyse cash flow trends, variances and risks.
• Financial reporting - prepare regular reports on cash positions, liquidity metrics, and financial performance for senior management and external stakeholders. Assist in the preparation of cash flow statements and other treasury-related disclosures for financial reporting processes.
• Risk management - identify, assess, and manage financial risks, including currency risk, interest rate risk and counterparty risk. Develop and implement hedging strategies to mitigate exposure to financial risks and safeguard the institute's assets.

What you'll need to succeed

• Professional certification such as Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) is desirable.
• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is essential.
• 3+ years of experience within a treasury, cash management, or financial analysis roles is essential. Preferably within a global organisation or within the not-for-profit sector.
• Strong understanding of financial principles, banking operations and cash flow management.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Experience with the financial system Workday is preferred.

Key Details

Salary: £37,400 per annum with generous benefits including 25 days annual holiday plus public holidays, enhanced pension contribution, private medical health insurance, life assurance, and flexible/hybrid working.

Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to present complex financial data to diverse audiences to ensure the organisation's financial sustainability. Experience in the charity sector and in developing financial strategy is essential for this role.
