Gingerbread is the charity for single parents. We challenge discrimination, and campaign against the inequalities single parents face. We are seeking a Treasurer to join our Board. This is an exciting opportunity to join a passionate and inclusive organisation making a real difference to single-parent families across England and Wales.
What will you be doing?
Our Board combines their skills and experience to provide stewardship to Gingerbread and its staff.
The role of Treasurer is to enable the board to maintain an overview of Gingerbread’s affairs, ensure its financial viability and ensure that proper financial records and procedures are maintained.
Trustees generally meet for full Board meetings a minimum of five times a year. Each of these meetings is two hours long. Trustees would need to allow for preparation time ahead of these meetings. We estimate there would be 2 hours of work a month outside of Board meetings.
What are we looking for?
The Treasurer should have the following qualities:
· A commitment to Gingerbread’s work and mission
· Financial qualifications and experience
· Some experience of charity finance, fundraising and pension schemes
· The skills to analyse proposals and examine their financial consequences
· Being prepared to make unpopular recommendations to the board
· A willingness to be available to staff and trustees for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis

ARTHOUSE Unlimited is seeking a dedicated Finance Trustee to join our small but passionate team of five and help make a meaningful difference to the lives of our beneficiaries.
The charity, based in Godalming in Surrey, runs supported art sessions six days a week (morning and afternoon). The current program serves 50 beneficiaries, who create artwork used on a variety of products sold to over 600 business to business clients, including multiple gift outlets. In addition to selling designs and individual finished artwork, we also supply and dispatch company gifting, sell directly to customers through our retail website and work with established brands such as LUSH, Heals, Urban Outfitters, Waterstones. We are looking to increase our board of Trustees with an individual who has financial expertise to guide us through the next stage of our growth and development.
The Trustees meet approximately 10 times a year, either in person in Godalming or online. We are a hands-on team, and all Trustees actively support the organisation, working closely with our small professional team.

Would you like play an important role in supporting our Executive to continuously improve our organisation, to navigate the current financial climate and challenges in higher education, and to maintain excellent services to students (our members)?
Worcester Students’ Union (WSU) is a registered charity (number 1145192) and a membership organisation, with its primary object being the advancement of education of students at the University of Worcester. The Union aims to achieve this through:
- representing students’ interests and welfare
- being the recognised representative channel between students, the University, and external stakeholders, and by
- providing social, cultural, sporting and recreational activities for students.
WSU is an unincorporated company with a Board of Trustees comprising of three Officer Trustees (the Full-time, elected Officers), up to four Student Trustees, and up to four Lay Trustees. The Board is responsible for the oversight of the Union’s governance, strategy, and financial sustainability. The post of Lay Trustee has a 3-year term and post holders may serve a maximum of two terms, either consecutively or non-consecutively.

This is a very important time for WSU as we manage the challenges posed by the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and the well-documented difficulties being experienced by higher education providers. We must support the needs of a diverse and ever-changing student body across multiple campuses, with less resource and pressure to diversify income streams.
Students’ Unions are unique organisations where change is the norm and where students are at the heart of strategy and decision-making. They deliver a wide range of services in a passionate, cost-effective, and professional way and are necessarily responsible, vibrant, and fast-paced. Becoming a Trustee of a Union is an excellent way of providing support and guidance whilst gaining personal knowledge and satisfaction. We have an excellent Board and currently have a vacancy for a Trustee with experience of charity/organisational senior management (Director/CEO etc.) and/or business development.
There are 5 full Board meetings per year and, also, 5 meetings of the two Sub Committees of the Board. We estimate that time to attend meetings (we ask that Lay Trustees sit on one Sub Committee), as well as time to prepare and read papers and liaise with the Chief Executive, totals between 20 to 25 hours per year. Meetings are on-line and so we welcome applications from further afield.

As a member of the Registration Advisory Panel, you will provide input on the service user experience of the wider psychological workforce. The Registration Advisory Panel are responsible for strategic oversight of the Wider Psychological Workforce Register and reports directly into the Board of Trustees. Introduction to African Adventures Foundation
African Adventures Foundation is a registered charity set up in 2013 to provide support to 34 schools in developing areas of Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar.
These schools provide education, health and food security, and social support to young people whose access to these basic services would otherwise be very limited. African Adventures Foundation helps by funding food security programmes, the construction of important school facilities, and hygiene projects that will benefit children’s health and education.
Our mission is to provide more children with a quality education and better opportunities in life.
All trustees are responsible for governing a charitable company and directing its management and operation. They must also ensure that the trust complies with all legal and statutory requirements.
Trustee Responsibilities:
The role of a Governance & Delivery Trustee is to ensure the Foundation complies with its charity obligations, maximise impact through effective in country project delivery, and bring valuable insight into the specific cultural and operational context of working in Africa.
We are looking for two Trustees to bring specific expertise to the overall Trustee Board alongside the Chair, Fundraising, and Treasurer Trustee positions.
Governance (role specific)
● Understand and represent the needs of the charity’s governing framework on behalf of the Chair and board.

● Support and provide advice on AAF’s purpose, vision, goals, and activities while working alongside the trustee Board, founder, and African Adventures personnel.
● Approve operational strategies and policies and monitor and evaluate their implementation, adding to overall good charity governance.
● Support broad decision-making, risk management, and charity planning through a range of platforms and processes.
● Keep abreast of changes in AAF’s operating environment through your external experience.
● Be fully prepared to attend, participate and contribute in Board meetings and Trustee events.
● Act as AAF ambassador applying your skills, experience and knowledge in a range of scenarios including government, fundraising and networking events.

Terms of appointment

Time commitment (estimated at one day every month)
● Attending quarterly Trustee Board meetings. Currently, these are alternating between online and in-person at HQ near Southampton, UK.
● Flexibility to respond swiftly to the occasional ad hoc issue and Trustee comms
● Attending occasion workshops and fundraising & networking events as per availability.

About the role
British Scouting Overseas wishes to appoint two trustees, to serve for an initial term of three years, starting in September 2025. Our trustee board provides collective leadership and oversight of the charity, and supports our volunteers who deliver our programme to young people around the world.
The Trustee Board’s role is to support our volunteer line managers, through the Area Lead Volunteer and Area Chair, so that they can be as successful as possible in their role of supporting leadership teams to deliver our programme.

About British Scouting Overseas (BSO)
BSO is a part of the UK Scout Association with headquarters in Gilwell Park, London. BSO members have access to the same resources, support and programme as UK based Scout groups. BSO exists to support British families living overseas in the provision of a UK Scouting programme to expatriate British children and to several British Overseas Territories.
We aim to ensure that all our members have the opportunity to feel and experience high quality UK Scouting whilst providing support and advice to adult members no matter where they are in the world. BSO undertakes Scouting activities in a safe and secure environment with flexibility to adapt to both local customs and guidelines set out within The Scout Association's policies and rules.
BSO operates 57 Scout Groups, 22 Explorer Units and 3 Scout Networks, with an impressive 2,997 young people supported by 936 adult volunteer leaders across 30 countries around the world.
Whilst most adult volunteer members are delivering programme activities with our young people, many volunteers are also based in the UK offering support, training, mentoring, governance and resources in a variety of different roles from trustee to marketing and event support to skills assessors.

The BSO Trustee Board
The Trustee Board’s role is to support our volunteer line managers, through the Area Lead Volunteer and Area Chair, so that they can do their role of supporting leadership teams to provide a great programme for young people.
The Trustee Board is responsible for supporting Scouting in BSO in the following areas:
- Following the rules of the organisation
- Insuring people, property and equipment
- Managing the money
- Fundraising, recruitment and any other support needed, so that Scouting can operate
- Providing Scouting safely
- Connecting Scouting with the local community and supporting it to grow
- Involving young people in decision making
- Meeting the requirements for the BSO Scout Council of the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (GDPR)
- Making decisions about opening, closing and merging of sections and units at the BSO Scout Council level
- Appointment of new volunteers at the BSO Scout Council level
What experience do I need to be a BSO trustee?
You may be of any nationality and live in any part of the world – the only condition is that you are willing and able to carry out the duties of a trustee.
The main requirement is a commitment to Scout values and willingness to do the best you can to help the Board carry out their role. It’s a bonus if you can bring some personal skills or experience in a particular area, such as any of the following:
- Administration and meeting management
- Data protection - policy and practice
- Development planning in a voluntary group
- Finance and budgeting - oversight
- Governance
- Media and public affairs
- Risk management - policy and practice
- Safety - policy and practice
The role of trustee is a volunteer one, but reasonable authorised expenses may be claimed.
Trustees serve for three years terms, up to a maximum of nine years, after which they must stand down.
Trustees may only be appointed if they are not disqualified under UK law from being a trustee of a registered charity. Successful candidates will be required to sign a statement confirming that they are not disqualified.
There is some mandatory online training for our trustees.
The Board meets four times a year, plus the annual general meeting. There are additional ad hoc meetings from time to time. Meetings are held online via Microsoft Teams.

BuDS’ visionary aim is to abolish disability by building a world which is Fair4All, free of the barriers which disable people.We are on an exciting journey to become a national charity, expanding our reach and impact across England. By 2025-26, this transformation will be complete, marked by a name change to ‘BuDS Disability Service’ and a shift to Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) status.
The role of Co-Secretary will be pivotal for the charity as it moves forward. We have decided to recruit Co-Secretaries because we recognise that the role will be easier to manage if divided between two individuals. The Co-Secretaries will be Trustees of BuDS and will need to embody our values and ethos.
What Does the Role Entail?
The role of Co-Secretary is expected to involve a time commitment of around 2.5-3 hours per week, a combined total of 5-6 hours between the two post-holders. BuDS works remotely and flexibly using Microsoft Teams, so much of the work can be done at your own pace at times which suit you best. Meetings are kept to a minimum as all the Trustees are busy people.
Working closely with the Co-Chairs and Co-Treasurers, and split between the two CoSecretaries, the four key responsibilities will be:
1.The running of the Trustee Board & its meetings
2.Arranging the Annual General Meeting and curating the Annual Report
3.Liaison with the Charity Commission
4.Supporting the move to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation
What Experience & Skills Are Needed?
These are the skills and experience we think are needed for this role, divided between the two Co-Secretaries. We are keen to develop people’s knowledge and skills through training and mentoring.

The Historic Towns and Villages Forum (HTVF) is seeking new trustees to help the Board make the most of a transformative stage in its history. HTVF became a registered charity in 2024, and over the last year has undertaken a review of its mission, vision and strategy, with two new Executive Co-Directors.
About us: The Historic Towns and Villages Forum (HTVF) is an independent charity with a mission to promote the prosperity, sustainability and heritage of historic cities, towns and villages for the benefit of all.

About Electrical Safety First
Electrical Safety First (ESF) is a campaigning charity that aims to reduce deaths and injuries caused by electricity in UK homes. We do this by working closely with Government, the electrical industry, manufacturers, retailers and consumer safety organisations to improve safety regulation and standards. We run media and digital campaigns to share advice and guidance with consumers that will help them to stay safe in their homes.
We campaign on issues that include electrical safety within housing standards, regulation of the sale of electrical goods on online marketplaces, and protecting people vulnerable to increased risk of electric shock and electrical fires.
We also consider the future safe use of electricity in the home as we transition to electrifying our heating and transport and making homes and appliances smarter.
We run an annual consumer survey that looks at general attitudes towards electrical safety, and we carry out research on specific areas of interest, including product safety, housing, electric vehicles and how we will use electricity in the future.
Our consumer campaigns, delivered through the media and online via our social media channels, aim to increase awareness of the dangers of electricity and encourage people to make simple changes that will help them stay safe in their homes.
We also publish reports on key electrical safety issues to provide evidence and recommendations for change and use our technical expertise to influence standards, regulations and legislation.
About the role
It’s a hugely exciting time to be involved with ESF, given the rise in electricity use as we transition to more electrification of our heating and transport. As the Government strives to achieve our net zero targets, our work has never been more important in protecting people and helping to make our increasingly electric world a safer place.
