About us
Who we are
Spires is an award-winning day centre that has been working with homeless and disadvantaged people in South London since 1990. We aim to be the best support we can be in helping people move from lives of distress, isolation and insecurity to a future of greater stability and hope.
We work with some of the most isolated and vulnerable in our society. The majority of our clients are homeless or have insecure accommodation, with many also facing complex issues such as long-term unemployment, poor mental and physical health, addiction and substance abuse, or they may be imprisoned by sex work.
With the help of a dedicated volunteer team, we provide a range of services including our Rough Sleeper Space every weekday morning; a twice-weekly Women’s Space; an Open Access Drop-in session, a full adult learning timetable offering free classes and workshops as well as an outreach service that supports people involved in sex work. We assess need, create bespoke support plans, provide ongoing key work and empower people to improve their circumstances. Last year we supported over 1100 people across all our services.
As well as a competitive salary, we offer a collaborative work environment; a generous annual leave allowance of 35 days including bank holidays and centre closure between Christmas and New Year, additional leave for long service; life and salary protection insurance; Employer pension contributions at 5% of annual salary.
