Growing Hope is a charity providing free therapy for children and young people with additional needs in partnership with local churches across the UK. We aim to grow hope for children, hope for families and hope in Jesus.

Growing Hope was founded in December 2017 and has a vision to see 20 clinics set up across the UK by 2030. We have three clinics, King’s Cross, Brockley and High Wycombe, and we are currently setting up a forth clinic in Redbridge. Each clinic is a local CIO which runs in partnership with Growing Hope and the local church. We have worked with over 700 children, young people, parents, carers and siblings since we launched. As a national charity Growing Hope has trained over 1000 professionals & parents. We are continuing to expand, with the set-up of further local clinics on the horizon. 

Growing Hope seeks a highly-motivated and experienced Director of Growth who is passionate about our mission. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead and develop our Fundraising, Communications, Marketing and Clinic Growth functions. This will provide support for Growing Hope to continue making a tangible difference in the world and ensure the charity’s long-term sustainability and growth. This role will report to the CEO of the charity and will work closely as part of the Senior Leadership team. The Director of Growth will have oversight of Fundraising, Communications, Marketing and Clinic Growth within the charity. This will involve line management of the Fundraising Manager who oversees a small team including a Communications Officer (1.0FTE), Design and Campaigns Officer (0.6FTE) and Supporter Engagement Officer (0.6FTE). The charity has a vision to champion accessibility UK wide and to set up twenty clinics in partnership with local churches by 2030, there’s a current pipeline in progress to achieve this. As the charity grows we want to ensure that we have strong financial strategy and growth plans which enable us to achieve our vision. As a small charity, the role will require balancing practical tasks with strategic planning and management. The role will be based in King’s Cross with occasional events outside of the office. We envisage the focus of the role to be split with a 40% focus on income generation, 20% on Clinic Growth and 20% on brand, marketing and PR, all aspects of the role will include leadership and management.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 
Duties and responsibilities will be discussed and developed as the charity continues to grow, but will include: 

Leadership and Management:

• Working as part of the Senior Leadership team to strategically support the running of the charity.
• Providing line management for the Fundraising Manager, Executive Assistant and other potential members of the team as the charity grows. 
• Leading and participating in prayer and worship with the team in line with Growing Hope’s Christian values.
• Ownership of income raising of £710,000 for the national charity with a view to growth each year. In addition to this an income of approximately £100,000 for each local clinic and ensuring that income targets are met across the national and local charities.

Fundraising Strategy & Finance: 

• Lead the development and execution of long-term financial plans in close alignment with the charity’s strategic goals from a Fundraising perspective.
• Reporting monthly to the Growing Hope senior team and trustee board on income, forecasts and plans to hit income targets. 
• Manging the fundraising, marketing and communications budget lines.
• Oversee the process of forecasting and planning income for analysis of the leadership team and Board of Trustees.
• Support fundraising strategy development and long term planning for growth.
• Explore and implement strategies for ensuring best use of charitable funds, and maintaining financial sustainability.
• Explore and implement innovative strategies to ensure that Growing Hope are raising funds as effectively as possible at both a national and a local level.

Marketing and Communication: 

• Overseeing and developing Marketing and Communication strategy across the charity, including PR development, socials and internal and external communications. 
• Oversight of projects and campaigns running across Growing Hope.
• Promoting the Growing Hope brand both internally and externally. 
• Developing strategies to support staff with understanding and working to the Growing Hope values.
• Oversight of marketing and advertising on behalf of the charity. 
• Analysing key marketing performance metrics and using tracking tools to provide market research, forecasts, competitive analyses, campaign results, and consumer trends to formulate actionable insights for the marketing team. 
• Formulating unique insights to understand the stakeholders from a marketing perspective. 
• Using marketing insights to contribute towards the overall business strategy.

Clinic Growth:

• Supporting the Senior Leadership Team with strategic oversight of the clinic growth process and the vision for twenty clinics by 2030. 
• Ensuring good reach of services across the UK.
• Exploring potential partnership for impact across the UK and beyond. 

General: 

• Sending letters and emails and making phone calls as required.
• Logging all actions on Salesforce database.
• Maintain data protection & confidentiality in line with Growing Hope’s policy.

Person Specification 
The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in working in the charity sector, an interest in additional needs and inclusion are highly desirable. 

ESSENTIAL
This role has an Occupational Requirement to be a Christian, as permitted under Schedule 9, Part 1, of the Equality Act 2010. 

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Experience in fundraising and strategically achieving income targets. 
• Experience in marketing and communication. 
• Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably in a charity or non-profit setting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement.

The role

The Customer Support Executive role is responsible for assisting both internal and external stakeholders through out every action taken. This role is required to have in depth knowledge of all FareShare Go, and FareShare Uk’s policies and procedures, our various systems and platforms, excellent communication and analytical skills and a can-do attitude. The Customer Support Executive is the face of FareShare to our partner organisations, answering inbound queries to identify not only the issue but the root cause of the problem, and are responsible for seeing this through until the underlying cause has either been resolved or escalated to a stakeholder to investigate. This role goes beyond looking at these issues on a case-by-case basis, being responsible for highlighting trends across the issues that come across the support teams' desk to identify overarching themes and suggesting improvements to address these. Relationship management underpins every action carried out throughout the day, be it customer, stakeholder, or colleague facing to ensure that we are providing the best possible service we can. This can take many forms, from complaint handling with our customers when there is a retailer issue, expectation management when there is a customer misunderstanding, conflict resolution between our customers and/or retailers, to ensuring that all our records are detailed, up to date and inclusive of all information needed for our colleagues to carry out their role. This team sets the standard for customer support for FareShare, acting as brand ambassadors whilst advocating for our charities and retailers alike to ensure that we achieve our mission of ensuring that suitable food reaches our communities by supporting our community partners who tackle the causes behind the symptoms of food poverty in the United Kingdom. 

Main areas of responsibility

Resolving support issues

• Working with our charities to maintain seamless high quality support, including solving issues as they arise, and escalating to appropriate stakeholders.

Charity compliance

• Managing all charity compliance workstreams for one of four FSGo Regions through effective reporting, analysis, communication and intervention with charities to achieve agreed KPIs

 Effective use of CRM

• Understanding and using a Customer Relationship Management system to support all charities, by maintaining up to date records on all charities and scheduled donations. 

 Supporting regional teams

• Working closely with our regional field teams to transition charities from initial to ongoing support, supporting their engagement and retention work with collecting charities.

 Stakeholder support

• Make charity eligibility assessments and understand their need and capacity for surplus food, in order to maximise the volume of food donated.

JOB PURPOSE

The Head of Resource Mobilisation is a crucial role within Start Network. You will hold responsibility for setting and driving the income generation strategy, in collaboration with the Director of Business Development, for all of our global initiatives, particularly the Global Start Fund, Start Ready, our Innovation initiatives and our hubs. You will work closely with the Director of Business Development and relevant team heads to ensure financial stability for the organisation, and be responsible for overseeing all fundraising activities for our global programmes. This is a role for an ambitious and bold fundraising leader who has significant experience in securing large seven and ideally eight figure grants.

A large part of this role will focus on maintaining relations with governments, private foundations, corporate partners and making sure we maximise current donors for the benefit of the overall strategy. An exciting upcoming opportunity within this role will securing a new eight figure business case from FCDO in 2025. Beyond this, diversifying our donor base is also critical, so experience in securing new donors from scratch, particularly trusts and foundations and corporates (at the seven-figure level) will be paramount, so bringing a creative take to this area of work will be important. 

Start Network’s programmes are innovative, impactful, unique and life-changing for vulnerable communities around the world. You and your team will need to convince donors to support our vision and provide them a refreshing and engaging experience. We will also look to this role to develop with key allies in our members and the sector to build relationships and influence how funding flows to the people affected by humanitarian crises.

You will have a passion for locally led action and will be able to speak eloquently around this point, as well as influence donors to change and flex their ways of working to shift power and resources to the front lines to enable locally led decision making and action.

Finally this role, will be a key driver in maintaining cooperative and fruitful relationships with our existing donor base.

Overall, this role will suit a positive, high performing leader, who has great self-leadership skills in order to manage and enable our talented resource mobilisation team to reach new heights.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Retain and maximise current donors

• Maintain the overall donor portfolio for global initiatives and maximising key strategic donors

• Ensure that Start Network meets the needs and expectations of current donors

• Oversee the development of quality donor reports

• Support finance and grant management to report effectively to large strategic donors

• Develop exciting new pitches for current donors, making sure we engage them across a range of initiatives

• Lead on the development of a new eight figure FCDO business case, together with the institutional funding team and other Heads across the organisation as required

• Work with the Director of Business Development to position Start Network strategically in global funding discussions

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL

• Substantial experience as a senior fundraising manager/head, directly responsible for managing strategic donor relations

• Demonstrated experience in securing and maintaining significant 7 figure grants

• Demonstrate ability to manage a growing, dynamic and complex donor portfolio

• Excellent networks with strong relationship-building skills and the confidence to work with people at all levels of seniority

• Proven ability to drive a strategic agenda, and the ability to apply this to Start Network

• Experience with institutional donors, corporate donors, trust and foundations

• Experience in diversifying income and securing donors from scratch (particularly with trusts and foundations and corporate donors)

• Excellent knowledge of the aid sector and trends in global philanthropy

DIRECTOR OF FINANCE (Full time or part time)

For more than 80 years, Fire Fighters Charity has stood side-by-side with the UK’s fire and rescue services community, as a trusted source of support through tough times, an independent shoulder to lean on and an enabler for positive health and wellbeing change.

While their core ethos remains the same today as it was when they were founded in 1943 – to help members of the fire and rescue services community to live healthier and happier lives – the organisation has evolved over the decades.

Today they support over 10,000 people a year. Through delivery of specialist residential programmes from three dedicated centres, online consultations through digital platforms, and by operating within local communities and working hand-in-glove with fire and rescue services, they deliver a range of high-quality health and wellbeing services.

With this solid foundation, they are ambitious to grow their reach and deepen their impact, through their new strategic plan 2024/25 – 2026/27 and beyond. Over the next few years, they are focused on further developing and improving services, increasing and diversifying income, building further engagement, relationships and partnerships, and improving ways of working.

The new Director of Finance will be joining Fire Fighters Charity during an important time of transition, reporting to the newly appointed Chief Executive. You will be a member of a collaborative and developing senior leadership team in a strategically focused role which includes working closely with the Board of Trustees, a committed and long-serving Finance team, colleagues across the organisation and external partners. Your commercial acumen, strategic and risk-based approach and inclusive leadership style will be a hugely important part of our success.

Key elements of the role will include:

• Play a significant role in the overall leadership and management of the charity 
• Provide strong strategic professional leadership for all aspects of financial management for the charity and its related entities
• Provide expert strategic advice and financial modelling to inform our funding model, financial planning and key contracts and partnerships
• Lead the development and implementation of the organisational financial strategy and plan and ensure targeted engagement with key internal and external stakeholders
• Lead organisational management of risk

The Campaigns Assistant position represents a rare opportunity to work both within and beyond Parliament to build power for greater democracy and a just transition to a post carbon, wellbeing-based society.

The CA will spend 3 days a week with Clive Lewis MP, supporting digital communications for his climate campaigns, and 2 days on climate and democracy campaigns at Compass.

This role was born from the recognition that the gap between parliamentary and civil society campaigns weakens our movements and undermines the alliances we need to build long term power.

We are looking for someone who is passionate, committed and keen to learn and is comfortable working in a small and lively team that spans Compass and Clive’s office.

This role involves:

• Creating digital communications materials for climate justice campaigns, to build the movement for a just transition and bolder climate action for Clive Lewis MP
• Boosting Compass’ campaigns, with a particular focus on creative digital communications, social media and crafting powerful stories about democratic cooperation
• Engaging and growing our supporter base to maximise our impact through email messaging, graphics and social
• Connecting parliamentary activity with grassroots campaigning, linking between communicable activities and work happening in place on the ground

Experience, qualifications and knowledge

• Relevant experience in the political campaigning sector – whether in a not-for-profit, trade union, political party, student union, charity, NGO or grassroots organisation
• Digital campaign communications: you may have written copy for a petition, designed social media graphics to raise the profile of a campaign or put together an email journey to turn people out to an event.
• Experience working on campaigns or projects with tight deadlines: you can manage your own time, prioritise effectively and keep to realistic timetables
• A grasp of the mechanisms of a campaign and good knowledge of the digital tools for the job, such as email tools, graphics programmes and social media. Knowledge of HTML is a plus.
• Experience of supporting people to take action through effective communication and helping build the capacity of a supporter community.
• Digital content creation and graphic design skills desirable but not essential
• An understanding of the UK progressive political scene and support for the aims, vision and values of Clive Lewis MP and Compass.

The role is based in St Helens and the co-ordinator will be expected to work at sites across the town and the surrounding area. Job Description

 

Purpose of the Role

The Helpline Manager will manage and provide support and advice to a team of Helpline Support / Case Workers and Helpline volunteers who will be handling calls. The role will also include occasionally providing helpline cover during staff shortages. The helpline supports women on more than 45 different issues with the majority of call related to various forms of violence and abuse as well as mental health and wellbeing.

The Helpline Manager will be responsible in ensuring that the service continues to be culturally sensitive and be able to respond to a diverse population of women with complex needs. A significant part of the role will encompass managing staff / volunteer rotas, monitoring staff performance, identifying and managing safeguarding issues, ensuring that the helpline database is being maintained and providing helpline data to other staff. The role will also include attending external stakeholder meetings and raising awareness of the helpline service. The Helpline Manager will also have some involvement in other MWNUK projects, services and activities as required. The role requires a proactive, organised and practical approach to ensure MWNUK’s projects are delivered effectively and efficiently, providing high quality support and customer service across the organisation, both internally and externally.

 

Main responsibilities

· Supervising the Helpline team of 11 staff (however this is equivalent to 3 full time staff per day only) and ensuring there is sufficient helpline cover and monitoring their wellbeing.

· Recruiting and training helpline volunteers and staff with the support of senior management and ensuring their development needs are flagged up.

· Monitoring performance of helpline staff through monthly supervision meetings and annual appraisals.

· Identification, handling and recording of all safeguarding risks and issues for both children and adults, including in instances of domestic abuse, forced marriage, honour-based violence, sexual abuse, self-harm, isolation, housing, marriage and divorce etc.

· Reviewing helpline cases before they are closed ensuring the data has been properly recorded.

· Monitoring helpline data and identifying any trends and sharing them with senior management and the Advocacy Officer.

· Maintenance of accurate records, online databases, filing systems and computer files and gathering of statistics as required by the Operational Director and / or CEO and external evaluating consultant.

· Maintenance of all information in line with confidentiality and data protection policies while observing professional boundaries at all times.

· Holding monthly helpline team meetings and sharing learning as well as identifying and sharing interesting cases with senior management and the Advocacy Officer.

· Attending external meetings e.g. MARAC meetings, engaging with police and social services.

 

Other duties

· When required (i.e. when there are staff shortages) provide cover on the helpline and respond to phone calls, emails, texts and webchat in a faith and culturally sensitive manner.

· Keeping up to date with helpline issues such as forced marriages, domestic violence, honour-based violence, sexual violence, female genital mutilation, mental health, discrimination and women’s rights – including assisting with projects and services on these issues.

· Promoting the helpline’s services to a range of stakeholders.

· Occasionally (if required) delivering training workshops and leading discussions online and in schools, colleges, and community organisations on issues such as forced marriages, domestic violence, FGM, honour-based violence, child sexual exploitation etc.

· Carrying out duties to support to the Operational Director and / CEO.

· Attending training as required.

· Undertaking outreach work if required.

Person Specification

· Strong experience of dealing with minority ethnic women particularly from Muslim communities who have suffered domestic violence and other forms of abuse such as forced marriage, honour-based violence, sexual violence, mental health issues etc.

· Knowledge of key issues that will arise on the helpline such as domestic violence, forced marriage, honour-based violence, sexual violence, mental health, hate crime etc.

· Strong experience of identifying and handling safeguarding issues for both children and vulnerable adults.

· Experience of managing, supporting and supervising a small team.

· Second language such as Arabic, Bangla, Punjabi or Urdu.

· Excellent IT skills (word processing, databases, spread sheets and Outlook).

· Able to build relationships with whilst maintaining professional boundaries.

· Proactiveness, enthusiasm and commitment along with an honest and trustworthy approach to the role.

· High level of professionalism when dealing with internal and external stakeholders.

· Strong organisational and interpersonal skills with solid communication skills – written and verbal.

Location of Work: Flexible, this post holder can be based at home, our London office or a hybrid approach working from home with office visits as required, we continue to seek to enable flexible and remote working. The role may involve some irregular travel throughout England and Scotland.

Contract Type: Ideally full-time, 35 hours per week, although part time / flexible hours may be considered. The role may require occasional evening and weekend work.

Contract Length: Permanent

Salary: £50,500

 BACKGROUND

Magic Breakfast is a registered charity providing healthy breakfasts to children and young people in the UK who arrive at school too hungry to learn, and expert support to their schools. Over 200,000 children and young people are on roll at Primary, Secondary, ASL / Special Educational Needs Schools and Pupil Referral Units that the charity works with, in disadvantaged areas of Scotland and England. Providing breakfast ensures that children start their school day with the energy and nutrition they need to be able to make the most of their morning lessons.  Magic Breakfast also undertakes research, and campaigns for long-term solutions to end hunger as a barrier to learning.

JOB PURPOSE

Magic Breakfast’s mission is to end child morning hunger in the UK now and for good.  The biggest team within the Fundraising and Development department, Corporate Partnerships are responsible for building and unlocking multi-layered and mutually beneficial relationships that go beyond, and include, critical financial support.

The Head of Corporate Partnerships is responsible for leading, empowering and enabling a dynamic, growing and ambitious team to maximise the potential of both cash and gift-in-kind income streams. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic, mission-led focus and alignment across new partnership development and management whilst also playing a critical role as part of the wider Fundraising & Development leadership and Magic Breakfast core management group.

In recent years, our existing corporate fundraising programme has developed and grown and includes a volunteering programme that engages with over 200 volunteers a year. Our portfolio includes long-term strategic relationships with companies including Heinz, Amazon and New York Bakery Company as well as newer partnerships with companies such as Marriot Hotels. As the Head of the team, you will provide senior and strategic support to help deepen the impact of our many multi-faceted relationships whilst championing innovation and creativity throughout. You will also oversee the development of a targeted pipeline to ensure there are clear strategies for identification, cultivation, and stewardship and that partners are aligned with Magic Breakfast values and our Ethical Fundraising Policy.

To enable the success of the partnerships team, the successful candidate will work closely with other departments across the organisation to build effective relationships and identify and deliver opportunities for partners to deliver on and engage with our strategic objectives and campaigns.

As a member of the Senior Fundraising Leads and Core Management Group, the post holder will also show exceptional leadership, role model our core values, and support the development and delivery of the major giving and wider fundraising strategy, and the in-year management of our organisational objectives and KPIs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy and Leadership

• Support the development and delivery of a new Fundraising & Development strategy, identifying and contributing specifically to sustainable and ambitious growth from corporate partners in line with the charity’s financial ambitions and strategic objectives

• Lead in convening colleagues to ensure the organisation can make empowered decisions and continue to grow in an informed and sustainable manner.

Income Generation and Donor Stewardship

• Manage a high-performing corporate fundraising team, providing leadership and support to set and implement an effective corporate fundraising strategy raising £3,400,000 in cash and £1,500,000 from GIK in 2024/25 with a focus on multi-year investment.

• Increase cash and gift-in-kind income from corporate partners by:

• Building the capacity of the new business function to grow a robust and diverse multi-year pipeline of prospects and support them in on-boarding new high value partnerships

• Building the capacity of the account management function to effectively steward, uplift and retain our existing partners, maximising added value opportunities for mutual benefit.

Reporting, Budgets and Financial Management

• Manage all aspects of the Corporate Partnerships team budget.

• Lead on the data capture and reporting on all corporate management cash and gift income via our Salesforce data base, reporting as necessary on opportunities, risk and any changes to forecast or projected income received.

• Conduct effective annual planning and budgeting in close collaboration with colleagues from across the organisation, setting, measuring, and reporting against agreed budget, KPIs and objectives

Core Management Group

• Lead the Corporate Partnerships team in line with Magic Breakfast’s values, supporting and managing them in line with Magic Breakfast’s policies and procedures. 

• Develop the team’s collective capability through career development plans, which identify training opportunities (formal external training as well as via project allocation and involvement with external partners)

• Take an active role in setting, delivering, and evaluating progress against Corporate Partnerships team strategy and goals
