Finance Manager required for an independent regulator who offer fantastic benefits such as 32 days holiday and highly flexible work pattern - either fully remote or 1 day per week in their central London office!

It's a great role that focuses on management accounting and business partnering activities, across 4 key directorates, managing a small team of one.

Key areas of responsibility will include;

• Leading on management accounting activities, with a particular focus on forecasting and risk. Undertaking an initial review of all budget heads, highlighting major variances, and ensuring no mis- postings have arisen
• Collect and collate commentaries from budget holders for the preparation of a monthly finance report for the management board, to include a commentary on cash and outstanding debtors and creditors
• Supporting budget managers, develop relationships and provide an effective business partnering service, responding promptly to queries
• Training budget holders on relevant financial matters and processes
• Develop systems and processes, enhancing the management accounts with meaningful and informative narratives on financial information for budget holders
• Develop/maintain the cashflow model ensuring projections are accurate
• Oversight of fee invoices ensuring payment received within established credit terms
• Update the fixed asset register on a monthly basis
• Line management of Finance Officer
• Adhoc project work for Head of Finance and Governance and the Director of Resources

In order to be successful in the role, we are looking for a qualified accountant or actively studying towards a financial qualification. You will be confident in preparing management accounts and working with budget holders to highlight risk/opportunities. Be proactive, able to identify and put forward ideas for improvements to systems.

Furthermore, you will have excellent communication skills, and be able to develop strong relationships with your budget holders.

About the role

Main Responsibilities 

Strategy and Planning

Working with the Chief Executive and Development and Communications Committee to set and lead on the development of NCO’s development strategy, setting fundraising targets in line with strategic objectives.

Oversee all fundraising activity and report to the Chief Executive, NCO Board and Finance Committee on progress towards income targets.

As a member of the Senior Management Team, represent the Development function to ensure full account is taken of development potential whilst contributing towards the leadership and strategic direction of NCO.

Individual Giving

Lead on re-establishing NCO’s Individual Giving programme, drawing on the potential pipeline of current stakeholders (eg parents and alumni) and delegating to/working with the Development Team in its successful delivery.

Lead on new mid/major donor giving and relationships including legacies, personally managing a portfolio of prospects and donors.

Support the Development team to lead in the delivery of NCO’s annual giving programmes, ie Friends and Patrons.

Lead on individual campaigns, working collaboratively with the Development team to maximise opportunities to engage with new supporters through events and matched funding initiatives (eg The Big Give).

Work with the Chief Executive and other senior staff to ensure the continued engagement and support of the NCO Board.

Trusts and Foundations

Lead on fundraising from Trusts & Foundations and other grant giving bodies (excluding statutory funding).

Research and cultivate existing and new funders, working with the Chief Executive, Board and the Development Team to initiate new partnerships and maintaining systems to ensure that those partnerships are successfully managed and sustained.

Prepare compelling major grant applications to secure new funding with sound attention to detail, and work with colleagues by leading and advising on other vital grant applications undertaken by members of the Development team, sharing best practice in fundraising to develop the organisation’s skills.

As part of the Development team, provide appropriate and timely monitoring information to trusts and foundations, as required by their conditions of support including, where appropriate, organising events and visits.

Corporate Fundraising

Lead the Development team on stewarding existing and cultivating new corporate sponsors and ensuring benefits and recognition are delivered across NCO’s marketing channels.

Statutory Funding

Support the Chief Executive and wider team to ensure that NCO fulfils its quarterly and annual reporting requirements to Arts Council England and the Department for Education and in the creation of new funding applications including as part of the next ACE Investment Review.

(NB: The day to day management and reporting requirements of NCO’s NPO and DfE grants will be managed by a newly appointed Business Administrator and overseen by the Chief Executive).

Organisation and Management

Line manage NCO’s Development Manager through individual objective setting and performance management, regular 1:1 meetings and identification of training needs.

Empower the Development team by ensuring they have regular opportunities to develop their skills and experience across different areas of fundraising and through training whilst supporting them wholeheartedly in their professional development.

Inspire and lead the Development team, and set an example, on the application, implementation and adherence to all NCO policies and procedures.

Support the Development team to lead on the development of NCO’s CRM System (Beacon) in specific relation to its fundraising functions, in line with the Data Protection Act.

Maximise the potential of Gift Aid from all donations, supporting the Development team to ensure all donations and payments received are appropriately logged, accompanied by appropriate paperwork and in line with annual audit requirements and submitted in a timely manner.

Produce Development reports for quarterly Board and Finance Committee meetings, attending online and in person as required.

Undertake research and maintain a high level of knowledge about trusts, foundations, individuals, and statutory funding to inform planning.

Represent NCO at conferences undertaking public and media presentations, attending conferences and events and lobbying forums as appropriate

About the role 

This is an exciting opportunity to work with Sustrans as part of the Fundraising and Supporter Engagement team as the E-Commerce Manager. 

In line with our ecommerce strategy, Sustrans has invested over the past years to increase sales through our e-commerce shop and now needs to find new approaches to maximise revenue. 

As the E-Commerce Manager, you will be responsible for maximising e-commerce revenue by optimising the martech stack, improving audience insights, product development/management and  promotion through digital and offline marketing channels.

Join a small commercial team with big ambitions for the public library sector. We are seeking a Commercial Manager to help us realise our plans to secure a menu of commercial contracts that all of our 175+ member library services can choose to benefit from, according to the skills and assets of their service, their focus and strategy and of course the needs of their communities.

Our Commercial Team

Currently we hold a single commercial contract worth around £3m per year delivered through 12 libraries. Our aim is to reach a point where we have a menu of commercial contracts that all of our 175+ member library services can choose to benefit from according to the skills and assets of their service, their focus and strategy and of course the needs of their communities.

In the current funding climate for local authorities and local government services, these contracts are not just about the income and the services they can provide, but about demonstrating nationally the power of the library sector, and how national services can be delivered locally through library services and the communities they serve.

This is a long term aim of ours – we are seeking to build the commercial team with this role and while it is initially a 12 month contract, our hope is that with the role in place we can generate the income to sustain and build on it.

Main purpose of role:

• Support the delivery of commercial projects across the library sector
• Lead the bidding process for new commercial projects

Frequent travel within the UK will be required for the role.

In this role you’ll be both strategic and hands-on, solely managing the financial controls for this small charity with a £350k annual turnover.  You will support the Director and senior management team through your management of financial processes, policy and planning.

This will include using accountancy software to process income and expenditure, producing management accounts for the senior management team and Board, and ensuring the charity reports to its key funders, including Arts Council England.

Who We're Looking For:

We are seeking an exceptional Director of Fundraising & Engagement who has:

• Proven track record of rapidly scaling organic fundraising income from £4-5 million to £10 million or beyond
• Extensive experience securing major gifts and managing high-value donor relationships
• Strong understanding of the UK charity sector and fundraising regulations
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience managing multiple direct reports
• Strategic thinking ability and the capacity to execute plans swiftly and effectively
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, motivate, and persuade donors and stakeholders
• Experience with digital fundraising techniques and CRM systems
• Proficiency in budget management, reporting, and forecasting

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Editorial Assistant - EJN will assist the EJN Senior Editor and Content Officer at Internews' Earth Journalism Network (EJN), a global network working with journalists and media outlets in virtually every region of the world to improve the quality of climate and environmental reporting. 

The Editorial Assistant will assist with the production, tracking, and distribution of EJN content, maintaining the EJN website and providing editorial support to EJN program staff across regions. The Editorial Assistant should have experience with research, writing and editing content in English, and content management. This position reports to the EJN Senior Editor and Content Officer. 

LOGISTICS

Internews has Headquarters offices in Arcata, CA, Washington, DC, and London, UK which support a hybrid workforce with staff working remotely, fully in-office, or partially remote. This is a remote-based role, and candidates based anywhere in the United States, United Kingdom, Thailand, or Kenya will be considered. Candidates must possess independent work authorization in their location that does not require sponsorship from Internews.

DAY-TO-DAY TASKS will include: 

• As directed, research and write project updates and impact stories and assist with the product of newsletters, resources and reports. 
• Assist with the distribution of content, primarily posting resources, project updates and stories on the EJN website. 
• Participate in screening applications for grant and training opportunities, reviewing submissions to ensure they meet specific criteria. 
• Assist with webinars, online courses and workshops, including providing technical support, organizing registration, and inviting speakers. 
• Assist the EJN Editor and web development team with coordinating improvements to the EJN website. 
• Support with data collection and database management, including data entry, organizing files and distributing surveys, and provide other administrative support as directed.
• Assist with social media activities such as engaging with EJN's Google group and WhatsApp group members, offering creative input and contributing to communications campaigns as needed.
• In all duties, uphold Internews' Core Values and demonstrate commitment to fostering a culture of belonging. 

QUALIFICATIONS WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required

• 3 years' prior relevant experience, including journalism experience; newsroom experience preferred. 
• Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken). 
• Strong writing skills; copyediting experience a significant asset. 
• Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., Drupal). 
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. 
• Interest in environmental and/or climate change issues. 
• Willingness to work with international colleagues in distant (and multiple) time zones. 
• Ability to work well with others, meet deadlines, and respond to changes in priorities. 

Preferred
