Purpose of the role:
The purpose of the role is focused on generating and developing monthly management accounts information and providing insight and direction to the Director General and Leadership Team. Reporting directly to the ‘Head of Finance and Organisation Development’, the Management Accountant will play a key role across the business in improving data capture and improving reporting across the team. This role will be on a part time basis of 2 days a week.
This role will suit someone who is looking to join a small, dynamic and growing organisation to help streamline our management reporting processes to provide timely and accurate financial management information. Systems experience with ‘Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central’ accounting package would be an added advantage.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
·Preparing monthly management accounts, including comparatives to budgets, trends and forecasts
·Compiling Balance sheet reconciliations
·Facilitating use of Power BI to generate Management accounts pack
·Preparing quarterly Project ‘Income and Expenditure’ reports for Project Managers
·Preparing interim/final financial Project reports for submission to Funders
·Preparing quarterly VAT returns
·Providing accurate and timely financial information to support the organisational financial strategy and decision- making process
·Ensuring all transactions are recorded, filed and reported correctly
·Streamlining and improving accounting systems, controls and process environment
·Reviewing and updating current suite of organisational policies
·Preparing annual budget
·Preparing supporting schedules for Annual audit and working with external Accountants to assist in the preparation of annual financial statements

Sightsavers is looking for a Group Accounting Manager - a new role within our expanding team to ensure our compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
Salary: £48,901 - £57,531
Location: UK remote - with occasional travel to Haywards Heath, West Sussex when required
Contract: Permanent
Hours: This is a full-time role with flexibility around hours worked, mostly remote working and we are also open to discuss a job-share arrangement
We are looking for an experienced Group Accounting Manager to join our supportive and proactive Group Finance Team. The Group Accounting Manager will ensure compliance with FRS, Charity SORP and other statutory/ regulatory requirements and provide robust accounting advice to internal stakeholders. Key duties will include:
- ensuring and updating new accounting standards
- collaborating with the Governance and Compliance team
- preparing and reviewing FRS and UKGAAP reporting and technical accounting papers
- advising stakeholders in relation to technical accounting issues
- liaising with auditors on technical accounting issues
- interpreting and implementing new FRS developments/ standards
- providing internal and ad-hoc training and advice on technical accounting
- supporting the Group Accounting and Reporting Manager
- liaison with the Governance and Compliance team

You will be flexible with the ability to manage change. To succeed in this role you will need:
- ACCA accounting qualification, or equivalent (essential)
- proven technical knowledge of IFRS accounting standards (essential)
- Charities SORPs gained within an international charity (essential)
- strong technical accounting and writing skills (essential)
- management experience (essential)
- experience of leading on audits and/ or liaising with auditors (essential)
- solid communication skills and executive presence
- outstanding analytical skills (financial modelling)
- the ability to efficiently give priority to activities and carry out regular functions with little or no supervision
- project management and leadership skills
- experience of working in an environment with remote stakeholders
- the ability to make limited trips to the organisation's Country Offices if required
