About the role:

Based within Single Homeless Project's (SHP) Islington Complex Needs Accommodation Service, you will work closely with the Regional Services Manager and a multi-disciplinary team to deliver intensive, person-centred support to clients at our Ashley Road project. This is a high-impact role, designed to support individuals with multiple and complex needs, including mental and physical health challenges, substance use, and a history of offending. You will support and empower our clients as they move from crisis towards stability, independence, and meaningful engagement in the community.

As a Project Worker, you will have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of some of the most marginalised people in our society. You will play a vital role in helping clients sustain accommodation, access services, and develop the skills and confidence needed to take control of their lives. You will work in close partnership with external agencies and professionals to deliver coordinated support, while also playing a key part in preventing homelessness and promoting long-term inclusion. The working rota for this post is Monday - Friday, with no weekend shifts. The rota will consist of a mixture of earlies (8am - 3.30pm) & lates (3pm - 10.30pm).

• Ability to manage a caseload and deliver positive outcomes utilising your knowledge of the health, social care and criminal justice sector.

Purpose of the role

At NEON we believe that organising is crucial if we’re to build the power we need to win a new economy and deepen cross-community solidarity at a time of political polarisation. A central part of our new strategy - and this role -  is to support movement organisations and organisers to build their capacity to do what we call Transformative Organising - where we transform the conditions we live in, transform ourselves and transform who has power in society. We use a combination of trainings, 1-2-1 mentoring and strategic partnerships with movement organisations to give organisers the tools, skills and confidence they need to build a base with those at the sharp end of the crisis, develop politically conscious leaders, and plan strategic & escalating campaigns that win. You’ll work with our Head of Organising and colleagues in the Movement Building Hub to scale up this offer over the coming years, with a particular focus on the housing, climate and migration movements, as well as supporting movements to tackle a rising far-right. 

What you will be doing

1. Deliver organising trainings to social movement organisers and campaigners, using content from our Transformative Organising programme and working closely with our Head of Organising and NEON trainers. These will be a mix of shorter workshops and multi-day trainings, blending in-person and online delivery, and you will be supported to experiment with different delivery models to meet movement needs. 

2. Work in partnership with organisers, organisations and coalitions to build their organising capacity over the long-term, through ongoing mentoring and hands-on support and training.

3. Conduct extensive 1-2-1s with movement organisers, to strengthen relationships, explore opportunities for collaboration and understand movement needs. 

4. Support the development of a network of UK-based organisers, and create spaces for collective learning and ensure NEON’s organising offer meets the needs of organisers on the ground.

5. Work with the Head of Organising to periodically review and update NEON’s Transformative Organising content, staying responsive to movement needs and incorporating the latest organising practices and tools. 

6. Organise public events on organising topics, including webinars and workshops, bringing together organisers from across social movements

7. Contribute to the Movement Building Hub’s wider work, including the organising components of our Worker-led Transition programme and our work to build the strategic capacity of movement leaders and organisations. This role will also contribute to cross-organisational work in NEON’s key focus areas (migration, housing, climate, and tackling the rise of the far-right), as well as projects to support the development of NEON’s internal culture. 

Who you are

This isn’t a tick box exercise and we don’t expect you to meet all of the criteria - it’s more to give both us and you an overall sense of the role, and how the skills and experience you have might map onto it. 

We’re looking for someone with a: 

1. Proven track record of using organising tools and approaches to plan and deliver successful campaigns, with at least 3-5 years of experience. This might include doing base-building, conducting outreach, mapping, organising mass meetings and actions, or integrating political education into campaign planning 

2. Ability to deliver a strategic and escalating organising plan in a fast moving  and politically complex environment 

3. Experience of delivering trainings, including to those at the sharp end of injustice, with a passion for being and developing as a trainer

4. Understanding of UK social movements, their strengths and weaknesses, and opportunities for NEON to provide support 

5. Good communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and sensitively, and work effectively with a range of movement organisations and individuals, including those directly impacted by injustice and oppression

6. Excellent planning skills to ensure projects are designed delivered to a high standard

7. Ability to work independently and flexibly in a dynamic organisation

8. Willingness to occasionally work unsociable hours (always repaid with TOIL)

9. Proven understanding of anti-oppression work and commitment to tackling all institutional forms of oppression, bigotry and exclusion

10. An affinity with NEON’s aims, objectives and organisational values of solidarity, generosity and respect.

Parish Finance Administrator - Job Description

Main Duties

Financial Management

• Liaise with and provide financial information to the Diocesan Finance team as required.
• Prepare and manage the parish budget for approval by the Parish Priest and Finance Committee.
• Prepare quarterly accounts and reports for Finance Committee meetings and attend these meetings.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including income, expenditure, and bank reconciliation using the approved Diocesan Finance System (currently XERO).
• Oversee the collection, counting, and banking of offertory and other parish income, ensuring proper procedures are followed.
• Raise and process invoices, payments, and reimbursements in a timely and accurate manner.
• Prepare monthly and annual financial reports for the Parish Priest and Finance Committee, ensuring transparency and compliance with diocesan requirements.
• Support the Parish Priest in fundraising and stewardship initiatives, including second collections, campaigns, and appeals.
• Promote and ensure the routine availability of digital giving platforms for donors, including online and planned giving routes.
• Ensure compliance with diocesan policies for clergy payments and oversee the monthly processing of income and expenses.
• Supervise Parish counting and collection teams, assisting with bank deposits where necessary.
• Ensure compliance with Gift Aid regulations, supporting the Parish Gift Aid Coordinator in fulfilling this role.

Governance and Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all diocesan policies.
• Maintain an asset register and full inventory, ensuring appropriate insurance coverage for parish properties and equipment.
• Notify the Estates Department regarding insurance-related matters.

Volunteer Coordination

• Experience using data tools, such as Google Analytics for reporting and identifying actionable insights.
• Excellent copywriting, editorial and proofreading skills.
• Experience in writing for the web or digital channels and creating content tailored to a variety of audiences.

Job Description

The Head of Management Accounting will:

• Lead financial management and reporting for Districts/Departments, ensuring timely and accurate financial information for the Senior Command Team and Business Executive Leaders including revenue, grants, and capital income/expenditure.
• Produce and monitor budgets in line with Force timetables, providing assurance to the Senior Command Team and Business Executive Leaders on financial integrity.
• Strategic lead on the delivery of financial management, financial reporting and financial advice to the Districts/Departments budget holders and providing financial information to Senior Command Team and aligning financial decisions with the Force's goals and addressing financial risks.
• Responsible for all aspects of producing accurate and timely financial information for budget monitoring and budget setting in line with the Force's periodic timetable. Working closely with the Head of Finance and Chief Finance Officer to provide assurance to the to the Senior Command Team regarding the integrity of the Finance's finance position
• Driving efficiency's across with the team through ensuring that the line management responsibility model based on one to four/five ratio is fully embedded within the Finance Officers.
• Drive efficiency's by embedding a 1:4/5 line management ratio within Finance Officers, standardising procedures, and reducing reporting variability.
• Lead annual budget planning, working with senior leaders to ensure resource allocation aligns with strategic priorities.
• Challenge and support senior leaders to improve financial plans and achieve value for money.
• Implement performance frameworks, reviewing KPIs, and driving continuous improvement across the finance team.
• Manage the Management Accounting Team and Capital Accountant, prioritising tasks and fostering staff development.
• Promote teamwork and strong communication within the Finance team and with the Financial Accounting Team.
• Develop financial training for staff and senior leaders, improving financial literacy across the Force.
• Drive continuous improvement in financial management policies, procedures, and internal audit processes.
• Provide strategic financial support for key meetings, financial statements, and HMICFRS inspections.
• Oversee financial management of Grants, ensuring compliance with procedures and financial instructions.
• Lead bench-marking and networking to report financial data and identify efficiency's.
• Support financial management systems development, acting as the SME for the Oracle ERP system.
• Deputise for the Head of Finance on specialism areas and other duties as required.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Head of Management Accounting will be/have:

• Qualified Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (C.C.A.B.) or CIMA accountant.
• Significant experience in management accounting and strategic financial planning and working with a finance business partnering model to deliver the outcomes.
• Up to date with current accounting issues.
• Understand personal and professional strengths and development needs and be able to evidence the steps taken to enhance your continuing professional development.
• Ability to interpret complex or detailed legislation, policy or strategy documents to identify financial implications and provide insightful financial advice.
• Strong commercial acumen with the desire to help drive business performance and show the wider business how finance can add value on a day-to-day basis.
• Experience of advising, challenging, and negotiating with senior officers, managers, and budget holders in a confident manner.
• Ability to use a range of communication and influencing techniques to successfully negotiate,collaborate or effect change in relation to matters of a specialist / technical nature.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of building robust working relationships and establishing personal credibility with senior officers, managers, and budget holders.
• Demonstrate IT literacy including advanced Excel, with extensive experience of large, complex ERP systems.
• Open to change, intellectually curious and able to challenge existing thinking to initiate and embrace innovation.
• Excellent analytical skills and a creative approach to problem solving.
• Experience of leading and managing a team of professional staff in a highly pressurised environment.
• Ability to contribute to financial governance, compliance, scrutiny matters.

Key Tasks

We are looking to hire a confident and politically astute public affairs and communications professional to help drive our UK strategy at the intersection of law, climate, nature, and corporate accountability. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Head of UK and CEO, to shape clear and compelling policy strategies, and engage directly with UK policymakers and the media, connecting our mission to the heart of UK politics.

Meet your Manager

In this role, you will be managed by Andrea Lee, who joined ClientEarth in 2013 and is based in the UK. She has over ten years’ experience of working on sustainability projects and campaigns across the voluntary and public sectors in the UK, Spain and the USA. She first worked on the Healthy Air London community engagement project and now coordinates the national Healthy Air Campaign. Before joining ClientEarth, Andrea worked on sustainable transport behaviour change projects funded by Transport for London, and later at national charity Living Streets.

Main Duties

• Support the Head of UK to develop and implement a UK public affairs and communications plan to meet the strategic needs of the organisation across climate, nature, corporate accountability, the rule of law, and in partnership with communications, digital and programmes teams. 
• Proactively stay abreast of political and media developments and any relevant priority policy developments in the UK and manage reactions to political developments.
• Monitor relevant developments in the UK Parliament, in line with the agreed UK strategy and coordinate and track engagement.
• Develop communications plans for CEO profile on priority communications and policy issues, working with colleagues across the communications team to do so.
• Support senior leaders in the UK to build and maintain relationships in line with the strategic needs of ClientEarth, and in line with the agreed priorities, including with elected officials, political advisers, journalists, civil servants, local leaders and their advisers and other public bodies.
