Surviving Economic Abuse (SEA) is the only UK charity dedicated to raising awareness of economic abuse and transforming responses to it. Our vision is a world in which all women and girls are economically equal and live their lives free of abuse and exploitation.
Economic abuse is a form of coercive and controlling behaviour: 95% of women who experience domestic abuse will experience economic abuse. It limits their choices and ability to access safety.
We work in partnership to ensure women have access to and control over their own economic resources. We focus on four strategic priorities: public education and awareness-raising; transforming professional responses; ensuring systems do not inadvertently facilitate economic abuse; and influencing policy.
Our work is led by victim-survivors of economic abuse (Experts by Experience). Their lived experience and knowledge shapes everything we do. We are always learning, and we share our expertise via a national working group and an international network of practitioners, researchers and policymakers.
Founded in 2017, we are purposeful and agile in approach. We led the successful call to recognise and define economic abuse within the UK Parliament’s Domestic Abuse Bill. This has created a framework and momentum for change. Our aim now is to ensure that policy and practice recognises economic abuse so that victim-survivors are supported to achieve economic justice and abusers are held accountable for their behaviour.
About the Compass Project
The Compass Project Coordinator will work as part of an exciting new partnership between Surviving Economic Abuse (SEA), Living Without Abuse (LWA) and RISE (Refuge, Information, Support & Education). The Compass Project seeks to develop best practice responses to economic abuse within the coordinated community response by working with local professionals to help them understand and respond to economic abuse.
About the Compass Project Coordinator role
The Compass Project Coordinator will work to:
- Act as a point of contact for stakeholders across the Project areas (Brighton & Hove, Leicester, Rutland and Leicestershire), coordinating stakeholder engagement and access to training and resources.
- Work closely with the Interim Women’s Sector Manager to coordinate and implement the Compass Project in pilot sites.
The Compass Project Coordinator will:
1. Collaborate with Compass Project Partners to:
- Support the coordination of training and dissemination of resources to professionals across the two pilot sites.
- Identify and engage with local lived experience groups and women with experience of economic abuse, ensuring inclusion of women from minoritised groups, to inform and guide our work.
- Develop and maintain key working relationships and partnerships with various stakeholders and partners across the two local sites including the facilitation of links with money and debt advice services, and local financial services.
- Support the collection of qualitative and quantitative data from the network for the purpose of project and external evaluation.
2. Facilitating access to economic abuse training and resources:
- Develop and deliver tailored training sessions on economic abuse to enable frontline workers to recognise and respond to economic abuse.
- Work with Compass Project Partners to integrate relevant economic abuse content into existing resources.
- Implement data collection processes to support the evaluation of the project.
- Ensure effective communication with the project group and coordination of activities across the two pilot sites. Promote and facilitate SEA’s established routes to support for survivors and professionals.
- Attend local VAWG/DA Network meetings in a consultative capacity as an expert for economic abuse.
- Work with the communications teams across project partners to effectively promote the project.
- Facilitate referrals for women to the Domestic and Financial Abuse Team at Lloyds Banking Group and other banks/building societies we have direct links into.
3. General Duties and Responsibilities
- As part of the Specialist Team at SEA, manage the info@ email account on a designated day.
- Represent SEA in training and presentation requests.
- Contribute to evaluation reports and presentations as required for the Compass Project.
- To contribute to the promotion of SEA and its work and uphold its behaviours and values.
- To participate and contribute to team meetings and organisational development.
- To engage in learning and take responsibility for continuous personal development.
- To comply with SEA and MAP’s policies and procedures and legal requirements, such as provisions set out in the GDPR, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and Equality Act 2010.
Person specification
We are looking for a domestic abuse and/or frontline community professional with an interest in developing expertise around economic abuse. In order to apply, you should have the following skills and experience:
Essential knowledge/skills/experience
- Knowledge and experience of supporting and working with victim-survivors of domestic abuse. Frontline experience of working with victim-survivors would be an advantage.
- An understanding of the coordinated community response to domestic abuse and commitment to all aspects of partnership working to improve the response.
- A strong and demonstrable interest in economic abuse.
- Experience of developing and delivering training face to face and online.
- Strong communication and engagement skills.
- Experience of safeguarding and managing risk.
- Experience of working in partnership and managing relationships with voluntary and statutory sector agencies to enable their full participation in the partnership.
- Demonstratable experience of implementing project delivery plans with a range of stakeholders, and reporting on progress and risk management.
- Ability to produce high quality documents and maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills including the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and on own initiative.

Switchboard’s listening service caters to all LGBTQIA+ communities in the UK. This is a safe space for anyone to discuss anything, including sexuality, gender identity, sexual health, and emotional well-being. Handling over 17,000 conversations each year, their services continue to be in high demand, with their network of volunteers offering a vital service to people across the country in times of need, but also providing incredible insights into the issues that impact the LGBTQIA+ community the most.
Having been largely volunteer-resourced for most of its history, Switchboard has recognised that the charity has outgrown the ability to remain entirely volunteer-led and has sponsored a cultural shift within the organisation. Since 2021 they have been on a journey to establish a staff team and are now looking to introduce this new role as they grow throughout 2024 to a team of 11.
The Head of Operations will work as part of the Senior Leadership Team and will support the development and implementation of the organisation’s strategy and operational plan to support longer-term evolution and growth of the organisation and its services. This will involve focus on the organisations IT and technical infrastructure with oversight on other business and governance functions including Finance, HR, and Facilities. About the role
Sightsavers’ work in the field of education is driven by the principle of inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all. We are looking for a Global Technical Lead – Inclusive Education to provide technical leadership and expertise in inclusive education to guide the development and delivery of specific initiatives and programmes.
As the Global Technical Lead for Inclusive Education, you will support Sightsavers to promote inclusive education for children, youth, and adults with disabilities in education systems in West Africa, East, Central and Southern Africa (ECSA), and South Asia. Working across multiple countries, you will ensure that disability inclusion is at the centre of conceptualisation, design and implementation of Sightsavers’ projects.
Strong communication skills in English and French are essential for this role, as is the availability to travel 12-16 weeks a year, nationally and internationally.

We are looking for a skilled communicator with the ability to build strong working relationships across different departments and work collaboratively as a member of our cross-functional teams. To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A Postgraduate qualification (minimum Master’s) or equivalent experience in a relevant field, e.g. education, special needs education; disability, international development
- Business to fluent French language skills
- A proven record of leading, developing and implementing programmes in inclusive education in lower income countries.
- Experience of working with national governments and international institutions such as Global Partnership for Education, UN agencies, bilateral agencies as well as non-state actors to contribute to education system transformation.
- Knowledge of current developments, issues and best practice in inclusive education to effectively address the barriers to education for children with disabilities

Lepra is dedicated to addressing leprosy and lymphatic filariasis (LF) and their consequences through direct support, advocacy, and the promotion of inclusive communities. We work in Bangladesh and in India, through our sister organisation, LEPRA Society. We have just finalised our new Global Strategy for 2024-30, which will guide us in our efforts to accelerate progress towards global targets for leprosy and LF, and towards our vision of a world free from leprosy and LF.
Background & Context to the Consultancy
Our new Global Strategy introduces some new approaches and priorities to our work, including: our first ever global Theory of Change (ToC), the most detailed Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) approach ever, and a sub-strategy dedicated to research, innovation and technology: the Global Research, Innovation and Technology Strategy (GRITS). With the finalisation of the new strategy, and as part of our ongoing commitment to improving our impact and efficiency, we are now seeking a consultant to provide specialised research support and technical advice.
Purpose & Objectives of the Consultancy
The primary objectives of this consultancy are to lead the transitional phase of the GRITS, creating a detailed operational plan for its implementation; support the management of the existing research portfolio ensuring technical soundness, budget adherence and timely delivery; establish a sustainable pathway for research expertise to be led by in-country professionals.
Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for the following key areas over a six-month period:
Strategy Transition Leadership
- Lead the transitional phase of the GRITS.
- Identify and address any gaps or challenges in the current strategy.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth transition.
Operational Plan Management
- Develop a comprehensive operational plan for the rollout of the strategy.
- Establish the initial GRITS processes including the Go no Go; steering group established and functioning.

Support Existing Research Profile
- Review and support ongoing research projects.

Pathway to Sustainability

Stakeholder Engagement

Working across third sector organisations you will build and maintain relationships to input to policy and influencing, both as SWA as well as jointly with others. You will maintain good working relationships with civil servants, challenging ideas and find solutions where necessary.
The role includes inputting to and submitting consultation responses, researching and writing briefings, preparing for SWA to providence evidence in parliament, keep our communications team up to date with policy inputs and changes, and input to good practice stemming from policy changes. All of these roles, requiring great working relationships across the organisation, but especially with Membership and Training.
We’re looking for someone with experience in a similar role, with specific knowledge of the Scottish policy landscape and the potential that offers. We’re looking for someone who can work across domestic abuse related topics – examples including economic abuse, child contact, the welfare system. We ask that you re a self-starter, ready to apply these skills creatively to meet our strategic priorities. Excellent written and verbal communications skills go without saying: you’ll be skilled in the ability to engage confidently with a range of different audiences, and be adept at writing to suit them, working alongside colleagues across SWA and our members across the country.

About the Role
KHULA Education is seeking an experienced and dynamic fundraising leader to lead KHULA’s fundraising and communication efforts in the UK and South Africa. The postholder will join us at an exciting time and help us to continue our growth trajectory which has seen our annual budget increase from £250,000 to £1 million in the past several years. Supported by the South Africa based CEO, and working closely with the UK Board of Trustees, the postholder will be joined by a new Fundraising Officer who you will line manage.
We’re looking for an entrepreneurial individual with strategic vision who will play an active part in developing KHULA’s future fundraising strategy. 70% of the role is focused on fundraising directly for our work, 30% on managing KHULA’s communications including donor newsletters and social media content (this may evolve with the recruitment of an Officer).
Key Responsibilities
- Steward, retain and grow the support of our existing donor portfolio: KHULA has an existing portfolio of donors including trusts, foundations, corporates, major donors, individual and regular givers, the majority of whom are based in the UK or South Africa. The post holder is responsible for managing these relationships, including bespoke reporting for trusts and major donors, leading donor meetings and involving our Board and CEO as appropriate.
- Donor prospecting and new business: researching and generating new donor leads as well as acting on opportunities provided by our Board and others, converting prospects into supporters of our programmes.
- External communications: creating our quarterly e-newsletter to a database of ~2,000 supporters, managing our social media channels and the Annual Report, in addition to other ad hoc external communications.
- Fundraising innovation: leading on innovation in our fundraising approach, including creative campaigns to increase donations/recruit lapsed donors, developing products and offerings whilst considering cost effectiveness and ROI. Of particular interest is how to harness the giving potential of guests who are exposed to KHULA Education’s work when they visit Fugitives’ Drift Lodge in Rorke’s Drift.
- Financial management and admin: maintaining our donor database, working with the CEO to prepare our annual budget and fundraising forecasts.
Person Specification
Ideally you’ll have held a role with a similar scope of responsibilities around fundraising and communications, however you don’t need to have held a director level role before. Experience in a smaller charity and team is beneficial as you’ll need to be comfortable with both the strategic development side and inputting into wider planning, as well as being a leader who is willing to role up your sleeves and ‘do’.
We are particularly interested to hear from candidates who demonstrate most/all of the following attributes:
- A proven track record of personally delivering income of at least £1 million per year, including new business
- Experience in a fundraising leadership role and confidence in working alongside and advising at board level
- Experience in successfully fundraising from trusts, foundations, major donors and corporates, with experience in other areas (events, legacies etc.) also welcome
- Excellent proposal and donor communication writing skills (written samples of previous work will be requested)
- Self-motivated and able to work autonomously with a largely virtual team
- Comfortable acting in the capacity of charity ambassador, establishing new relationships and identifying new funding opportunities
- Ability to travel to occasional donor and board meetings (x3 per year), in/around London and annual trip to South Africa for 1-2 weeks.

The service supports 15 women with/out children in self contained units. The aim of the service is to support women to rebuild their lives following a period of abuse, preparing them to move on within a 6-month period to an accommodation type of their choice either in or out of borough.
We are looking to recruit a part time, enthusiastic and energetic customer focused support worker to join our service and dynamic team. Support workers deliver support along side the in house Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to address the safety of victims, survivors at high risk of harm and to equip women with the tools to move on within the allocated period.
The role requires some flexibility as the post holder will work shifts on 20 hours shared rota which includes weekend's shifts and out of hours on call rota.

What you'll do:
Undertake key-working responsibilities for a caseload assigned by the service Manager
To empower and support women and children in the refuge to keep safe and move on successfully with their lives
Complete DASH Risk Assessments, conduct comprehensive and regular customer risk assessments to ensure their safety and wellbeing
Create support/action plans for providing appropriate services based on the assessment and reflecting the services and resources available
Provide practical assistance to support customers to work towards the goals in their support plan (e.g. supporting benefits applications, attending medical appointments and appointments with external agencies
Develop and maintain links with all key agencies and service providers in the local community
Liaise with external agencies such as the Police, MARAC, Social Services and GPs
Help customers to integrate into their local area and access local educational, social, wellbeing and community activities, resources and opportunities
Monitor rent account, encourage and enable tenants to pay their rent and to ensure that rent accounts are managed effectively in conjunction with the Housing Management team
Manage customer referrals, completing Dash Risk Assessments and obtaining and maintaining all relevant paperwork
