We are excited to be seeking a talented and motivated individual to join Southampton Hospitals Charity as our Head of Grants and Programmes. This will be our first Head of Grants and Programme role and will provide the right candidate with a rare opportunity to implement and oversee the delivery of the Charity’s new £2.5 million dedicated grant programmes from pre to post award.
Covering four programmes (Patient Care, Research & Development, Clinical Innovation and Staff Education & Improvement), the post holder will be responsible for managing circa £2.5M of expenditure each year, ensuring they deliver impact for patients, staff and donors.
This role will be key, as we launch our ambitious new strategy to grow our reach and impact, and this opportunity offers the right candidate the chance to implement new ways of working as part of the management team and leading a committed team.
This role would also oversee the programmes delivered by the Charity, offering the opportunity to grow these areas of work and directly influence the impact on patients and difference we make.

Main Responsibilities:
Grant Management & Compliance

Oversee the delivery of the charity’s dedicated grant programmes from pre to post award: Patient Care, Research & Development, Clinical Innovation and Staff Education & Improvement. The post holder will be responsible for circa £2.5M expenditure per annum ensuring they deliver impact for patients, staff and donors (grant values typically range from £2K to <£0.5M)

Oversee the management of the charity's current grant portfolio; ensuring grants are delivered on time and in accordance with internal processes

Ensure compliance with financial obligations (inc. payments, reconciliations and audits) and regulatory obligations (inc. data management, grant award contracts, procurement)

Oversee the implementation and management of a Grants Advisory Committee
Relationship & Stakeholder Management

Build relationships with key stakeholders within UHS, including senior health professionals, executive team members, partners and beneficiaries

Act as primary liaison for the charity’s grant making responsibilities, ensuring alignment with charitable objectives and 2024-2027 strategic mission

Provide support to Director of Operations and Resources and the Senior Leadership Team, fostering a collaborative approach to grant programme delivery in tandem with fundraising, communication and art programme goals

We are hiring a Grassroots Development Officer at BVSC on a 2 year contract. Responsible to the Funding and Development Manager, the role of Grassroots Development Officer will be to support the growth and sustainability of small voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations in Bexley. This role is funded by the VCSE Capacity Building & Infrastructure Fund 2024/2025 through the South East London Integrated Care System (SEL ICS) and aims to enhance the effectiveness of smaller, often informal groups delivering services that are both ‘by and for’ their service users that are crucial in addressing local health and wellbeing needs for the ‘under-served’ but face significant challenges in visibility and support.
The Grassroots Development Officer will be responsible for providing a wide range of organisational development support services and activities to assist grassroots VCSE organisations to develop, thrive and remain sustainable. This role is particularly interested in working with groups who deliver services to young people, the elderly, minority ethnic (global majority) and migrant groups, those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and residents in the north of the borough (areas with high deprivation and a higher proportion of small groups).
You will be led by the VCSE sector within Bexley to ensure services are accessible, connected, consistent and to a high standard. Development work strives to build the capacity and capabilities of local groups, provide partnership/networking opportunities that enable them to carry out their own objectives effectively and offer high quality services. As a Research and Insight Analyst at the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC), you will be a key member of the Analysis and Insights (A&I) team, dedicated to empowering the NFCC and UK Fire and Rescue Services with actionable insights that drive informed decision-making. You will work collaboratively with a team of research and data analysis professionals to support the team's objectives and contribute to the wider goals of the NFCC.
Your role will involve using your skills to deliver valuable insights through effective information gathering, detailed analysis, and comprehensive reporting. You will work on both routine and ad-hoc projects, supporting the team in responding to major events within the fire and rescue sector.
Key responsibilities of a Research & Insight Analyst:
Following the processes and policies set out in the A&I team’s terms of reference document, to ensure high quality, consistent approaches to all work.
Designing and executing information gathering exercises, ensuring that they are clear, easy to understand and will yield the information required to produce the identified output.
Information gathering methods primarily include designing online survey tools and question sets but can also include workshops, interviews and focus groups.
Ensuring the validation and quality assurance of any information gathered to ensure that all insights gathered are accurate and statistically significant.
Interpreting findings and drawing meaningful conclusions using quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques.
Producing clear, concise and well-structured outputs, utilising visualisations to enhance understanding and engagement when presenting to stakeholders. These outputs could be developed using MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, PowerBI or similar.
Ensuring the Strategic Improvement Model (SIM) is kept up to date by reviewing and analysing reports about UK FRSs (from the inspectorate (HMICFRS), major inquiry reports, independently commissioned reports and other sources.
Supporting the work of the NFCC Organisational Learning team and ACER (Academic, Collaboration, Evaluation and Research) Group
Familiarity with research methodologies and outputs, such as literature reviews, and using them to identify trends, gaps, and best practices
Assisting as required when the A&I team is commissioned to support work related to major events or incidents
Assisting as required with team administrative duties
The successful candidate will have:
Experience working as a research analyst, or equivalent
Excellent qualitative research skills, including survey question design, and thematic analysis.
Excellent presentation skills with the ability to design and develop engaging outputs
Good numerical skills with the ability to spot trends and anomalies
Good MS Excel skills (including Pivot tables and charts, complex formatting and formulas)
Good communication and interpersonal skills to be able work within a team working solely from home

You’ll handle the administration of grants, ensuring that student groups make the best use of available funding, and collaborate with internal teams, such as finance, to manage budgets and keep financial records up to date. You’ll be responsible for ensuring compliance with risk management and health and safety protocols for all group activities, including events and trips. You’ll also develop resources such as toolkits and guides to help student leaders navigate group management and event planning. In addition, you’ll work closely with other departments to support a range of exciting events across the Union.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need proven experience in delivering excellent customer service and providing support in a busy, fast-paced environment. You’ll have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with students and colleagues. Knowledge of risk management, compliance, and health and safety protocols is essential. You should be competent in using digital tools such as Microsoft Office, Teams, and expense management systems. The ability to manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining high standards of service will also be key.
The salary for this role is between £26,640 - £29,820. The position is permanent and full-time (35 hours per week), with hybrid working options available. The Head of Finance will lead the finance team, ensuring robust financial management and sustainability to support our charitable objectives. With responsibility for a team of five you will lead and provide statutory, financial and management accounting, including all financial planning and analysis, for the Football Foundation (Foundation) and the Premier League Stadium Fund.
The role:
- Develop and implement financial strategies that support the organisation’s visions e.g. treasury management, developing long term cashflow strategies to maximise returns to the organisation.
- Lead and work with the SMT, Management Group, PMO Lead, and Data & Insight team to create and maintain financial and cost models to support the development and finalisation of strategic plans, budgets, and forecasts, focusing on the relationship between services, resources, and productivity.
- Work with the CFO in preparing and presenting the consolidated budget and plan to the SMT and ARG Committee.
- Develop high level models to support strategic and operational decision making, e.g. assessment of financial sustainability of grant applications and monthly reporting to funders in line with contractual obligations.
- Continue the development and transitioning of the finance team from a mainly transactional team to a team providing forwarding looking information. Enhance collaborative decision making through improved business partnering and transparent reporting.
- Ensure all legal entities comply with relevant legislation and prepare statutory accounts, corporation tax, VAT, Charity Commission, and other statutory financial returns as appropriate.
- Lead and manage the finance team, motivating and developing them so that that they are clearly focused, competent, and work effectively and efficiently.

Essential criteria:

School Food Matters (SFM) exists to teach children about food and to improve children’s access to healthy, sustainable food during their time at school. We provide fully funded food education programmes to schools. Our experience delivering these programmes informs and strengthens our campaigns, bringing the voices of children, parents and teachers to government policy.
About Young Marketeers
Young Marketeers is our flagship food education programme which gives primary school children an opportunity to learn about food production, grow their own veg, and set up a stall at their local community market. The programme began in 2013 at London’s Borough Market. Now, thanks to the support of The National Lottery’s Community Fund, we are taking the programme to cities across England.
Job Purpose

Key Tasks include:
Staff management and training
- Provide support and training to a team of freelance Project Officers/Gardeners across the country
