As part of this data strategy project, the Data Analyst will join the IT team to play a vital role in providing actionable insights derived from data to enhance decision-making. By utilising accurate and timely data, the Data Analyst will help leadership make informed decisions, reducing reliance on intuition and guesswork, and ensuring that our strategy and aims are grounded in data-driven insights.
Through the analysis of operational data, the Data Analyst will identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement, enabling St Mungo’s to streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance performance. Other key responsibilities will include:
- Translate technical data into actionable insights and prepare reports summarizing key findings and recommendations.
- Create Power BI dashboards to present complex data in a clear format for diverse stakeholders.
- Build and maintain data pipelines and models to ensure accurate, efficient data across systems.
- Collaborate with analysts, DBAs, and stakeholders to align data-driven insights with business goals.
- Develop processes to capture analysis requirements, define objectives, and assess data sources.
- Support data quality and compliance through validation and audit reporting.
- Recommend improvements for business processes and data workflows to optimise performance.
- Drive continuous improvement by adopting new tools, industry trends, and best practices.
About you
We think this role will suit someone who can utilise their communication skills alongside data analyst experience to help improve a data driven culture across the organisation. If you see yourself in this role, you should demonstrate the below:
- Experience of working in a Data Analyst or similar post with proven skills in the use of structured query language (SQL) for querying and manipulating data stored in databases, leveraging advanced MS SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation.
- Expertise in data analysis using Power BI, and experience with Python programming language.
- Experience in data visualisation to deliver actionable insights and statistical models to represent data trends, forecasts, and relationships.
- Knowledge and experience of ETL processing; extracting data from various sources, cleaning, transforming it into a usable format, and loading it into analysis tools.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across different teams and levels of the organisation, and to translate complex data for a variety of people including non-technical stakeholders.
In this role you will be required to work flexibly for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in Tower Hill, London. This allows for training, in person collaboration, team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities. We support a flexible approach to work with opportunities for agile working for the rest of your week; from home, or other St Mungo’s London or regional locations.

Location

Role Purpose:
The Royal Foundation is seeking an exceptional Project Analyst to play a vital role in shaping and delivering high impact strategic initiatives across Homewards’ priority thematic areas: homes; funding and finance; employment; and data. You’ll be at the heart of ensuring Homewards achieves lasting impact and shaping exciting and ground-breaking new partnerships.
Reporting into the Senior Project Manager and working closely with colleagues across the programme, the Project Analyst for Strategic Delivery is a key role as we deliver ambitious cross-location initiatives that prevent and end homelessness. You will be based within the core Homewards team but will work closely with other Foundation teams and external delivery partners.

Key Accountabilities, but not limited to:
· Conduct interviews, desktop research and literary reviews on interventions across homelessness prevention (data, housing, finance and employment) to inform Homewards strategic initiatives
· Analyse quantitative and qualitative information to assess the effectiveness of initiatives and, where relevant, develop light touch Theory of Change frameworks to guide approaches
· Investigate international best practices for potential adaptation in Homewards locations

This is a key role within the Engagement Directorate at Blind Veterans UK as we are working through a new strategy which ensures we become data and insight led and put our audiences at the centre of all our communication. This presents an excellent opportunity for you to help revolutionise how Blind Veterans UK conducts data selections and to play a key role in producing actionable insights as we seek to increase the sophistication of our marketing activity and deliver an excellent supporter experience.
You will be responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of complex database extracts from Raiser’s Edge using FastStats, ensuring all data selections are delivered to a high standard for communications to Blind Veteran UK supporters. This includes ensuring data selections are scheduled, developed, tested and checked, and delivered in accordance with the agreed brief and deadlines. The critical element to this role is developing a campaign planning process that embeds a test and learn culture and drives innovation and improvement in our communications.
You will work with the Insight Manager and wider Engagement (fundraising and Comms & Marketing) Team to implement journeys and automations to improve second gift rates and drive sustainable income.
As well as leading on data selections, you will manage the insight planning and request project boards, working with the Insight Manager to respond to both ad-hoc insight requests and longer term insight projects.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role - what you'll be doing:
- Lead on data selections. Responsible for ensuring all data selections are produced in an accurate, consistent and timely fashion, in accordance with agreed data selection briefs and deadlines.
- Manage the scheduling of delivering data selections to ensure there is clarity on what data selections are upcoming, to manage any potential clashes and to plan and prioritise the workload.
- Develop an excellent process and structure for delivering data selections that guarantees their consistency and accuracy.
- Work with stakeholders to ensure data selection briefs are completed correctly, definitions are clarified, and the final selection meets the criteria outlined in the brief.
