We have a brand new Project Manager opportunity which is a full time, 12 month fixed term contract sat within our Funding Strategy, Communication and Impact Directorate, created to manage the development and implementation of our Evidence and Impact Strategy.

About the role

Our Surrey Volunteer Recruitment Manager (VRM), who must be based in or very close to Surrey, works closely with VRMs in Herts and London and our marketing team to promote the MCR programme to organisations and individuals.  The purpose is to recruit committed volunteers who will mentor a young person in their school for one hour a week during term time. Office based, hybrid, at least three days in our rural Ashford office

We are looking for an experienced professional to take a key role in our grant-making team as our second grants officer.  You will be comfortable analysing applications for funding and making informed recommendations, as well as a highly competent database user, comfortable with “super user” responsibilities. In addition, you will take a lead on data – reporting on, representing and interrogating our grant-making data. You will also be lead contact on a limited number of funds, so must be confident managing relationships with stakeholders. Purpose of the post
To lead the representation of the VCS Alliance, and wider Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector (VCSE), in strategic meetings across Bradford District and Craven (BD&C). Develop and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders operating at grassroots and strategic levels to ensure Health and Social Care services are being designed and commissioned with representation of the VCSE, in support of our Act as One partnership vision for people to be Happy and Healthy at Home.

Duties and Responsibilities
Key working relationships

• Form a robust network and collaborate with a wide range of partners, across the Act as One Partnership. Foster strong relationships through effective partnership working, ensuring mutual benefits and successful relationship management.
• Represent the VCSE sector in conversations on Urgent and Emergency Care, High Intensity Use, Intermediate Care, and other strategic meetings as required.
• Ensure that VCSE partners are well represented in all engagement with commissioners and to develop the reputation of the VCSE as partners.
• Actively support the transformation of Enhanced care in the community, intermediate care offer, to support people with the appropriate level of care support and interventions to maximise independence and wellbeing.
• Lead and champion VCSE / community led High Intensity Use approaches and methodology in secondary and primary care across BD&C

Operational

• Responsible for creating an innovative way of developing the reduction in high intensity use of Emergency Departments.
• Manage and facilitate discussions and advise delivery partners as to how best practice might be adopted for future development of services and oversee their delivery.
• Facilitate, coordinate, and chair multi-disciplinary meetings, including managing data flow, to ensure a person centred and holistic approach to care provision.
• Work closely with VCSE partners to facilitate and coordinate the co-design of highly personalised projects that support improved wellbeing and health outcomes, whilst reducing inappropriate contact with health care services and unscheduled care.
• Attend a range of system forums / steering groups that are in support of unmet social needs e.g. homelessness, Mental Health.
• Work with other VCS Alliance staff to ensure links to other relevant programmes across the system.
• Develop and operate monitoring processes that support learning and assess effectiveness of provision.
• Lead on a range of projects to ensure that the outcomes agreed are delivered on time, to quality standards and in a cost-effective manner, adjusting plans as required.
• Determine links to existing projects, identifying interdependencies across projects/functions, potential impacts on wider system/sector, resource requirements and building in contingency, as necessary.
• Work with finance team in preparation of budgets.
• Monitor finance expenditure and outputs relating to programme budget and report to Senior Leadership Team and Board as appropriate.

Information Management

• Present complex information and create briefs about projects in a way that make complex topics easier to understand and are appropriate for the audience.
• Coordinate and share learning of the work with the wider partnership to promote and ensure sustainability.
• Identify patterns, themes and ‘causal factors’ which trigger relapse behaviours in order to shape future commissioning of service and/or demand/capacity planning.
• Draft reports summarising status on issues, outcomes, and provide progress/highlight reports to ICB, including highlighting exceptions and risks ensuring mitigating action can be taken to keep programmes on track.
• Maintain a risk register and ensure actions are in place to mitigate unacceptable levels of risk.

Impact and Insight

• Plan, develop and evaluate methods and processes for gathering, analysing, interpreting, and presenting data and information.
• Collate as required, qualitative and quantitative information and lead appropriate analysis to develop robust business cases.

Special conditions
As part of this role, you will be required to work and travel across the Bradford District and Craven. While the VCS Alliance supports hybrid working, there is an expectation that you will be based at the office for at least two days per week.

Your role in our mission…
A new partnership has been established between Marie Curie, Macmillan and Race Equality First to launch the End of Life Transformation Programme (Wales). This project aims to fully map the current evidence and experiences of people who have multiple emergency admissions in the last twelve months of life. The project will move on to developing a comprehensive picture of current interventions in place to reduce emergency attendances and then explore the evidence and practical application in Wales of systems in other parts of the UK and Europe.

Working with partners in the health and care system, Cardiff University's Marie Curie Research Centre, policymakers and other key influencers, you will work as part of a team to set out a clear plan for delivering change both nationally and within public services in Wales. On completing the discovery phase of the project, you will work with partners to establish focused test and trial areas to deliver changes to the experiences of people with a terminal illness.

Financial Controller

BWCE is working to put people at the heart of the transition to net zero, placing ownership and control of energy in the hands of consumers via clean energy projects that actively involve and benefit local communities.

This is a nonprofit distributing Community Benefit Society (a form of co-operative). Since 2010 when it was set up, it has built 14.5 MW of community owned solar power systems and one small hydro scheme, enough power to meet the equivalent annual electricity demand of around 5,000 homes.

The Role

They are looking for a technically minded management accountant with an interest, or experience, in the renewable energy sector. This new post will take on a range of responsibilities within a successful and growing community business, including financial reporting, financial planning, debt financing and budget management. This is a critical role with the opportunity for progression within the organisation for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversight and checking of outsourced production of quarterly management accounts and monthly cashflow
• Supporting the MD on reporting to full board/Finance Sub-Committee meetings and to external grant funders/finance providers
• Leading budget setting process, monitoring against actual performance, identifying trends and recommending action where necessary
• Maintaining BWCE’s long term asset portfolio financial model, analysing and reporting on trends and recommending action where necessary
• Overseeing asset revaluations and the annual audit process
• Collaborating with and reporting to the Senior Management Team around establishing effective financial controls and processes including grant funding budget management systems
• Supporting/overseeing project managers with implementation of budget and WIP analysis processes
• Supporting the MD and the Senior Management Team with strategic financial decision making linked to:
  • business planning
  • fundraising including share/bond offers and senior debt
  • cashflow management
  • asset investment and revaluation

Skills and Qualifications

• Qualified or part qualified ACCA Advanced Diploma, CIMA or equivalent accountancy qualification
• At least 3-5 years proven experience as a finance professional
• Experience of preparing financial reports for senior staff
• Working knowledge of accounting standards and practices, VAT and HMRC regulations in England
• Ability to effectively use data to produce informative reports for use by others
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivation and initiative, ability to learn quickly and work with limited supervision.
• Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
• Good organisational and time management skills, with experience of working to tight deadlines and budgets
