What the job involves

This is an exciting new role within our Integrated Marketing and Media department, managing a talented Media and PR team, creating impactful moments that inspire action and drive change for men.

You’ll be responsible for developing our media and PR approach, ensuring prioritisation to deliver our Communications strategy and campaign objectives. You’ll contribute to future planning, crisis planning, and measuring impact by tracking and evaluating our PR results.

You’ll work with our paid media agency to maximise our media partnerships, ensuring all our work delivers for men. You’ll work alongside our creative content team to help men affected by prostate cancer share their stories and build strong relationships with our spokespeople and key stakeholders.

We’re looking for a dedicated Case Officer to manage casework and provide direct support, advice, and guidance to beneficiaries on a wide range of issues including health, social care, employment, benefits, statutory support, and housing.

In this role, you will assess the needs of beneficiaries and collaborate with regional specialist teams and external service providers to ensure that support is delivered in an integrated and effective way. Additionally, you will work closely with the Casework Services Manager and Head of Welfare to identify and address local beneficiary needs, helping shape the commissioning of specialist services. Building strong connections with local organizations to reach beneficiaries in the community will also be a key part of your work.

The role is primarily homebased with will have regular travel around the London region for internal meetings and visiting beneficiaries, therefore you will need to live in a location that allows reasonable travel around this area.

There will also be occasional travel nationally to attend training / meetings.

Job Purpose

This position will lead the established department/s in order to deliver on key priority areas of the Strategic Plan in the areas of: breeding for unfavorable environments, breeding for favorable environments, quantitative genetics and biometrics (related to plant breeding), seed and delivery systems, and germplasm evaluation, host plant resistance, and including market access and nutrition traits and abiotic stress tolerance. The position will have a key role in strengthening the Institute’s role as a key provider of dynamic and innovative pre-breeding and breeding research outcomes leveraging IRRI’s scientific expertise, international convening role, trusted advisor status, and extensive partnerships network. This position provides the overall leadership for accelerating the development of new rice varieties and hybrids in all major rice-growing environments, with a particular emphasis on targeted product development pipelines that, based on clear product profiles, utilize molecular breeding approaches and distributed germplasm evaluation networks to maximize genetic gains. New breeding systems and tools have been put in place in the Rice Breeding Innovation department, however further innovative and cost-effective tools and breeding systems will need to be identified, developed and implemented to achieve the goals of making the IRRI breeding program the pre-eminent public sector cereal breeding program globally.

The Rice Breeding Innovations Research Director is responsible for assuring success in a global context, while focusing on South Asia, Southeast Asia and Eastern and Southern Africa. The position also requires an understanding of breeding information management systems, intellectual property, and an ability to work with the private sector with the assistance of business development specialists. In addition to being a recognized international expert in the field, the successful applicant will have the leadership and change management experience, standing and personal qualities required to provide inspirational leadership to a group of Research Unit Leaders, and provide strategic guidance in research innovations, partnerships and delivery of programs and projects. Department Leaders have a critical role in shaping IRRI’s research for development agenda by bringing together discipline based teams organized through Research units with cross-institutional functions, in order to ensure both the research and delivery imperatives of IRRI are met.

This position will be based at the IRRI Headquarters, Los Baños, Philippines and is open for international applications.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary and cross-functional groups to ensure that the Department and Research Unit goals and priorities are aligned with IRRI’s overall strategy, priorities, target goals, and values
• Contribute collaboratively to the Institute-wide research management team reporting to the Deputy Director General for Research in order to ensure cross-disciplinary, cross site, and cross functional collaboration across all of IRRI

Qualifications

• PhD degree and subsequent experience in plant breeding

Your role:
As the Communications Manager, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering the charity’s communications strategy to raise awareness, increase engagement, and grow support for our vital work. You will manage all external communications across multiple platforms, including social media, website, email marketing, and events, ensuring a consistent and compelling brand voice. You will work closely with the Individual Giving Manager and Challenge Events Officer to drive impactful campaigns. About us  

Alder Hey Children’s Charity raises vital funds to help make Alder Hey Children’s Hospital a truly world-class, patient-friendly hospital for the 450,000 patients and families we care for every year.  

The charity helps to fund a range of activities and projects that are designed to enhance and improve the lives of our amazing young patients. This includes the funding of specialist medical equipment to ensure our brilliant surgeons and clinical staff have the most up to date and cutting edge technology available and funding hi-tech distraction equipment designed and proven to reduce pain and anxiety in our patients. We also fund a range of programmes and special projects such as our ward musicians, our on-site magician and the play specialists we have on every ward.  

We have recently closed our Surgical Neonatal Appeal, having successfully raised our £3m target towards a brand new, state of the art Surgical Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the hospital. This year we will be fundraising towards a new Same Day Emergency Care Centre, providing an unrivalled experience for our patients and their families.  

  

About the role:  

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy corporate partnerships team. The postholder will work closely with the Corporate Partnerships Manager and wider Charity team to deliver the corporate strategy.  

  

Areas of support include management of incoming enquiries, team support for events, administration tasks for the team and supporting corporate partners.   

Key Responsibilities will include:  

• Income Generation & Stewardship  

• Provide administrative support for the Corporate Partnerships Team including  

• processing and sending out of personalised thank you letters  

• dealing with incoming enquiries in conjunction with our operations team  

• securing auction/raffle prizes  

• ensuring the charity’s supporter database is kept accurate and up to date  

• Help ensure relevant pages on the charity’s website are kept up-to-date and work with the wider team to enhance those pages.  

• Support the development and enhancement of supporter journeys.  

• Co-ordinate diaries and facilitating the organisation of meetings and events.  

• Supporting the team with events such as Dragon Boat festival, Golf Day and Christmas Light Switch On and hospital tours for donors/potential donors.  

• Support in the development of marketing assets both digital and non-digital. This could include including copywriting, editing, and proofreading.  

• Monitor marketing resources, such as leaflets, to ensure stock levels are maintained.  

• Some management of low value corporate partnerships as agreed with the Corporate Partnerships Manager.   

• Assist with the arrangements to ensure that all donors receive outstanding stewardship to establish long term commitment to the Charity.  

• Attend presentations and charity days to speak about the charity from time to time.  

• Undertake other duties which may be designated from time to time by the Senior Team to achieve the Charity’s objectives, including representing the department on occasions, functions and events as required.  

• Be an outstanding advocate for Alder Hey Children’s Charity in line with the core values of the organisation.  

• Be an active and supportive member of the Alder Hey Children’s Charity team, contributing to the team’s development and working collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers. Attend and support on events run by the fundraising teams where required.  

• Gain and maintain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the charity’s work, priorities and future plans and act as a spokesperson for the Charity when required, including representing at external events as appropriate.  

• Any other reasonable duties as required by your line manager.

*The charity is currently conducting a four-day working week trial, due to end on 31st March 2025. This means that, for example, staff previously working 37.5 hours a week are now working 30 hours a week to enable a four-day working week. The trial is monitoring the benefits of a four-day working week against productivity. We are confident that by embracing a more flexible and balanced approach to work, we can continue to create a thriving and fulfilling work environment while driving growth and success for our charity. Next steps will be agreed before the 31st March 2025, based on an assessment of the trial period; the four-day working week trial may be ended, extended or adopted permanently.  

This fixed term contract is for 14 months at 28.13 hours per week. As part of our 4-day working week trial (working week Monday to Thursday) working hours required will be 22.5 hours per week if you opt to sign up to the trial and its associated conditions. If the trial was to end after 31st March 2025, the working hours required would return to the contracted weekly hours for this role of 28.13 hours per week. As part of our staff charter, we have a flexible working policy and can consider accommodating a flexible working pattern such as school working hours if requested.

We will count on you to develop and maintain relationships with referral agencies, including police, treatment provider and Liaison and Diversion, and to deliver a holistic support service working, providing a practical service that will include social and housing support, education, training and employment options, benefits work, and debt advice.

Citizens Advice Hounslow is a well-established charity operating in the London Borough of Hounslow, supporting over 15,000 clients a year. Working in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, we have a new exciting opportunity for an experienced welfare benefits adviser to support to people affected by cancer and those who care for them. 

Role purpose:

• The Lead Welfare Benefits Adviser will lead and work with a team of advisers to provide welfare benefits advice, advocacy and casework for people living with cancer, their families and carers.
• The post holder will undertake casework to challenge benefit decisions including appeals, acting on behalf of clients where appropriate.
• The post holder will supervise and support the team of advisers to ensure their advice and information is effective and that clients’ incomes are maximised through benefits, grants, etc.

Training

Successful post holders who are new to cancer, will be provided with Macmillan specific welfare benefits community of practice and learning opportunities once in post.

Delivery locations

A key aspect of the project is to deliver an outreach service at the West Middlesex Hospital, our offices in Hounslow and the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, with regular sessions to be covered by the team of advisers. Clients will also be seen in person at appointments at our offices, while telephone advice and video appointments can be done working remotely.

Main Responsibilities

• To provide welfare benefits advice and casework to people living with cancer, their families, and carers.
• Assist clients to challenge benefits decisions, including appeals.
• Liaise and negotiate with other statutory and voluntary organisations to progress the client’s case and ensure they receive all assistance available.
• Achieve good outcomes for clients through advocacy and negotiation.
• Lead and support a small team of advisers to ensure they work effectively
• Maintain detailed electronic case records and other data for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval and statistical monitoring and report preparation.
• Make internal referrals or signpost clients as appropriate for specialist help with issues that fall outside the remit of the Macmillan service, including housing, debt, and employment.

About the role

Christian Aid's Campaign and UK Advocacy division exists to support Christian Aid's mission by making change happen through influencing people in power; engaging, inspiring and equipping people to make their voice heard; and working with allies and champions in the church, Parliament and beyond.

This role exists to influence members of the UK Parliament and other political targets to help advance our policy, advocacy and campaigning on climate and economic justice, and crisis contexts - currently with a particular focus on Gaza and the wider Occupied Palestinian Territory. About the role

From local and national support services to green spaces, sports clubs, museums and the arts, voluntary organisations and volunteers are a vital part of communities across the country. The Senior Practical Support Officer role is key to the delivery of NCVO’s support for small charities. ShareAction’s Financial Sector Research (FSR) team researches a variety of sectors’ performance and publishes regular rankings and analysis, as well as engaging with each surveyed institution and providing them with detailed recommendations for improvement. The FSR team also supports other campaign teams within ShareAction by providing relevant data and increasingly aims to share more data externally, too.

What you’ll do

The Senior Research Officer will contribute to this research, collecting information from institutions and databases, analysing quantitative and qualitative data, producing engaging content, and translating this analysis into actionable steps for institutions in our reports.

The focus of this role is to support the production and publication of our survey of the European banking sector. In this role, you will work closely with colleagues in both the Financial Sector Research and the Banking Standards teams to:

• Develop a methodology that is consistent with other financial sector benchmarks published by ShareAction, reflects recent market developments, draws on internal and external subject matter expertise, and reflects our campaign priorities.
• Collect, audit and analyse data regarding banks’ climate and sustainability strategies.
• Produce accurate and engaging written reports and data visualisations summarising the key findings of the research and drafting credible and persuasive recommendations.
• Support the presentation of the survey’s findings to banks, investors, funders, and the media.
• Contribute to responses to external consultations from regulators, policymakers, and other NGOs and support data sharing with external partners as appropriate.

The survey and benchmark of the European banking sector will be led by the Banking Programme team, with support from the Financial Sector Research team. This role will sit within the Financial Sector Research team, to benefit from the experience and processes already established for ShareAction’s asset management and insurance benchmarks. While you will focus on the survey of the European banking sector, there will be an opportunity to contribute to and learn about the other financial sector benchmarks as part of this role.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

• Analysing quantitative and qualitative data and writing reports on banks’ responsible finance performance.

As a Research Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our banking survey. Through your work, you will have the opportunity to influence the banking sector’s approach to sustainability by highlighting areas of improvement and leading practices among Europe’s largest banks. In close collaboration with colleagues in the Banking Standards and Financial Sector Research teams, you will:

• Lead survey development: Oversee all aspects of our banking survey, from designing methodology and collecting and analysing data to producing engaging written outputs and data visualisations that summarise key findings. You will coordinate the project from start to finish and liaise with multiple stakeholders, ensuring that surveys remain consistent with other ShareAction benchmarks and align with our campaign priorities.
• Conduct thematic research: Undertake research and engage with internal and external subject matter experts to inform positions on themes covered in banking surveys, ensuring that surveys are based on robust criteria and reflect the latest market developments.
• Engage with key stakeholders: Design engaging presentations and present survey findings and recommendations to banks, investors, and other stakeholders. You will act as an internal and external spokesperson for the banking survey, with the support of the Communications team and members of the Banking team. Additionally, you will contribute to external consultations and coordinate data-sharing initiatives with partners.
• Contribute to monitoring, evaluation and learning: Support the development and implementation of a monitoring, evaluation, and learning strategy for our banking surveys to continuously enhance their impact, relevance, and delivery process.
• Support funding and resource development: Assist with funding bids to secure resources for the survey’s continued growth and impact. You will also be responsible for hiring and managing additional researchers when necessary.

What you’ll bring to the team

• Passionate about climate change, sustainability, and/or the role of the financial system in addressing these issues.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with a proven ability to manage competing demands while meeting deadlines.
• Experience in project management, including task delegation and consideration of project team workload.
• Excellent analytical skills with a proven ability to analyse complex quantitative and qualitative data, produce detailed reports, and summarise findings.
• Proven ability to manage relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office with a proven ability to manage data, produce research insights, and create data visualisations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to convey complex information to a wide variety of audiences.
• A great team player.

It would also be great – but not essential – if you have:

• Experience in conducting surveys and/or carrying out qualitative or quantitative research on financial institutions.
• Strong understanding of climate change, biodiversity, human rights, and/or public health.
• Strong understanding of how private commercial banks operate and the products and services they offer to corporate and retail clients.
• Experience integrating innovative tools into research processes, particularly AI tools.
• Experience with the Salesforce CRM system.
• Experience developing and/or managing databases using Excel or other applications.

We are currently formalising our hybrid working policy. However, the Banking team meets in the office every Tuesday as we find this helps with team bonding and productivity. We expect candidates based in London to come into the office at least once a week every Tuesday and candidates based outside of London to come into the office at least twice a month on a Tuesday.
