We are seeking an experienced, passionate and creative Director of Strategic Communications. As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will help provide collective leadership, advice and challenge to UKCF, and take responsibility for leading the delivery of our internal and external communication functions. About the role
This is a new role that follows a decision to focus our new organisational strategy for 2024-2027 on growing our external influence and that of our network of 47 community foundations across the UK.
You will demonstrate generous leadership qualities and the ability to forge strong relationships and external partnerships, as we can have a far greater impact working with and through others. You will also encourage and facilitate collaborative and integrated work with colleagues within UKCF and across the community foundation network.

Purpose: To enhance UKCF's communications, brand and external influence in order to engage and inspire key audiences, thereby supporting the effectiveness of our business development, grant programmes and strategic delivery.
Key responsibilities:

Set out the strategic communications direction. You will play a crucial role in delivering our priorities of raising the profile of community foundations, promoting philanthropy and advocating on behalf of UK communities.

Understand the most effective ways to influence within the context we work and resources available – being flexible and responsive to a rapidly changing environment and understanding the changing needs of our partners.

Develop and oversee a cohesive and integrated strategic communications strategy and framework.

Elevate and enhance our brand, ensuring clear, consistent and impactful messaging that resonates with our diverse audiences and drives our organisational priorities.

Work closely with the interim Co-CEOs and Senior Management Team to develop and deliver the organisation’s external affairs strategy to extend our influence, public profile and achieve our policy and public affairs objectives.

Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the insights and learning from our members and our national grant programmes inform and drive our external communications outputs.

Work with our network to support and coordinate external messaging and communications that will amplify the broader network.

Work with MarComms leads across the UKCF member network to ensure the delivery of consistent, strategic coverage in earned media for community foundations and the impact of their work.
Internal strategic communications
Key responsibilities:

Line management of the Communications and Marketing Manager, as well as any other staff or contractors that are recruited on a temporary or permanent basis.

Manage UKCF’s communication and marketing budget, continuously seeking ways to improve efficiency and impact of investment.

Support a culture of continuous learning across UKCF, building confidence and skills in the team to effectively communicate our messages on external channels and to our members.

Contribute to the successful delivery of key events including biannual conferences, webinars and in-person policy and learning events, supporting the work of our Membership Team and Senior Management Team to engage our network and funders.

Ensure a high-quality delivery and consistency of communications and brand, reviewing and building out our brand resources for the UKCF team.

Communicate impact, learnings and outcomes of external relations and owned media activity to the Senior Management Team and Board as required.

We meet in person three times a year over a few days, visiting a different community foundation and region each time. Who you are: We are looking for dedicated, adaptable and empathic people with a background in providing high-quality emotional support and advocacy. Experience gained in the following kinds of roles tends to transfer well to the role of caseworker at Brake: police force, roles within the criminal justice system, family liaison officer, counsellor, experience in health and social care or previous caseworker experience in any area.
Specifically seeking candidates that have:
- A full clean UK driving licence, with your own vehicle and a willingness to use it for work purposes (travel expenses will be reimbursed)
- Ideally located in the Kent or Essex or surrounding area. You will support service users through their preferred communication method, which may be via Teams or telephone and there will be some face-to-face meetings with clients in their own home or safe meeting place
- Experience of frontline care for people in crisis with acute vulnerabilities and risks (desirable but not essential)
- Comprehensive understanding of the processes involved in the criminal justice system (desirable but not essential)
- Research and advocacy skills – you will reach out to other organisations to support your cases where required
- Significant resilience, and willingness to be professionally developed and clinically supervised

As Campaigns and Communications Manager you will be responsible for the strategic development and operational delivery of all PINF campaigns and communications. Acting as a key ambassador for PINF, you will support the Executive Director to develop and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders and to increase the profile of PINF and the indie news sector in the UK. You will work alongside the Executive Director and other staff to contribute to PINF's overall strategy and operational plan, and help to translate these into innovative campaigns and clear and compelling communications which support our overall vision.
You will have the following skills and attributes:

Advocacy. You should be able to develop and deliver an effective campaign, drawing on your excellent knowledge and understanding of the UK’s political framework to build effective working relationships with Ministers, MPs and Peers, members of the devolved administrations, civil servants and regulators.

Communications. You should be able to use your outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including copy-writing and public speaking, to draft and deliver compelling content including speeches, consultation responses, blog posts and comment pieces.

The role
Global Greengrants Fund UK is looking to hire an energetic and passionate individual who will play a key role in establishing and developing Global Greengrants Fund UK’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) work. The new role of MEAL Officer will undertake high-quality data management and analysis to produce key learnings on the outcomes of GGF’s grantmaking and other programmatic activity, as well as leading system improvements to our evolving monitoring, evaluation and learning framework in collaboration with global colleagues. They will be providing support to the emerging global learning function, and the role will support the delivery of learning activities across our network to develop clear briefs, learnings and findings that can be used by other functions, including the Communications and Philanthropic Partnerships teams, to strengthen the organisation’s external and internal engagement and knowledge sharing activities. This will include developing appropriate methodologies and tools to collate, validate, summarise, analyse and report on key trends within our grantmaking using and improving on a range of data sources including grantee application forms and reports. Working as part of the UK Programme Support function and reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, the post holder will also collaborate closely with colleagues across the global organisation Global Greengrants Fund, particularly within the Programmes, Communications, and Learning teams towards realising organisational aims.
The candidate profile
The successful applicant will have significant relevant experience in a similar role in a charitable, environmental, development, and/or grant-making organisation. They will be an experienced, senior-level specialist with a strong track record in data collection, monitoring and analysis, with good working knowledge of a range of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, tools and systems, and in using this information to evaluate and recommend adaptations, and in reporting. Higher-level qualifications/certification in a relevant field, post-graduate qualification would be a distinct advantage, particularly in the social sciences and/or use of mixed method approaches. They will have demonstrated experience authoring MEAL related reports, either organisational reports or academic publications; demonstrated ability to coordinate and improve the process of data collection, analysis and reporting and demonstrated experience in managing datasets, databases, programming, and other analysis software. They will have excellent written and verbal communication skills; and be confident in engaging a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including at senior levels. They have exceptional organisational and research abilities, with strong attention to detail and accuracy, including analysing large amounts of information from disparate sources. They should have excellent interpersonal understanding, relationship building, and interpersonal skills to build strong alliances with diverse constituencies. They also thrive in a virtual environment and are motivated to take on challenges and collaboratively find innovative and creative solutions.

This is a new and exciting role to support the ongoing growth and development of the Men’s Sheds movement and specifically the work of the UK Men’s Sheds Association (UKMSA) made possible through long term support from a funder.
Having celebrated ten years of UKMSA in 2023, we are now looking forward to the next ten years with an ambitious target and programme to support and facilitate the growth of the Men’s Shed movement and the health and vitality of Sheds, together with campaigning for happier and healthier men with programmes to improve wellbeing, reduce loneliness, anxiety, depression and ultimately save lives.
We are a small team, and the Head of Operations will be required to deliver against their own agreed targets, as well as supervise the work of others. The Head of Operations will be a member of the organisation’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and have day to day line management responsibility for five staff or contractors.
We are the support body for Men’s Sheds across the UK. We work hard to inspire and support the development of Men's Sheds.

the3million is looking for a new Community Organiser to help us build the power of EU citizens in the UK and of their non-EU family members, working alongside two other Organisers in our team and the members of our EU Citizens’ Campaigns Network
Since Brexit, EU citizens in the UK and their family members have been brought under the Hostile Environment. the3million has been providing information to EU citizens and has continuously advocated for a fairer immigration system, especially in making the EU Settlement Scheme more accessible to all.
We provide a platform for EU citizens to become politically active and use their voices to advocate for themselves. The Community Organiser will be part of a team to create opportunities for EU citizens to have increased capacity to engage in activism and lead the change they want to see in the UK, their home.
This role is at an officer level and suitable for people who are looking for their first paid role in Organising, but have had some grassroots experience, even if on an informal or voluntary basis. You can expect to be mentored by an experienced Community Organiser and thereby learn a lot while on the job. More experienced candidates are also welcome to apply.We are currently in the process of applying for funding to extend this role. If we are successful, the contract will be extended by 2 years and we will work with the successful Organiser on a progression route, reviewing the job holder’s salary level after they have been in the role for 6 months.
Position type: Part time, between 3 to 4 days a week, depending on the successful candidate’s preference
Duration: 4 months (September - December 2024) with possibility of a 2 year extension from January 2025, subject to funding
Salary: £30,000-32,000, depending on experience, with possibility of salary increase subject to funding and successful probation period
Location: Remote, must be UK based. Regular travel across the country to meet local community groups. All travel expenses covered.

We are the leading organisation representing EU citizens and their non-EU family members in the UK. Our vision is a world where our communities can thrive, reach their potential and have an equal voice in UK society.
Our work ranges from monitoring the implementation of the UK-EU Withdrawal Agreement, advocating for the integration of EU citizens throughout all sections of society, informing people of their rights, promoting access to justice, and giving EU citizens a voice in British society to change the narrative on migration as a whole.

**Duties and responsibilities **
1. Co-lead the3million’s “EU Citizens’ Campaigns Network”

Working with the Community Organiser - Campaigns to recruit more members of the EU Citizens’ Campaigns Network by regularly reaching out to relevant communities and booking 1-1 meetings with key community leaders;

Working with the Community Organiser - Campaigns to support and guide our existing Network members made up of over 40 community leaders who have a variety of backgrounds and levels of experience in campaigning, developing their confidence and ability to become effective change-makers and encouraging them to take coordinated, strategic actions to advance our campaigns;

Co-facilitate monthly Network meetings: setting agendas, facilitating Breakout rooms, taking minutes and following up with Network members on their agreed actions;

Support the3million’s campaigns by supporting our Head of Policy and Advocacy on our MP-facing work in Parliament and our Communications Manager to ensure that our campaigns are featured on our social media, newsletters and clearly communicated to key stakeholders such as partner organisations in the migration sector and to key community leaders on the ground
2. Relationship-building and in-person workshops

Rolling out a series of “listening sessions” and “Know Your Rights” workshops with community groups across the country: liaising with relevant community leaders to visit them and their communities, this may include working on Saturdays (and taking time off in lieu during the week) and running in-person sessions. You will receive guidance on the format from the Community Organiser - Campaigns but will be the main person delivering such sessions on the ground.
3. Professional learning and development
- Taking a proactive approach to your learning and development towards becoming a confident and versatile Community Organiser and Campaigns specialist, you will have regular check-ins with your line manager (Community Organiser - Political Campaigns) and engage in an ongoing process of evaluation, thereby reflecting on the work you are carrying out to draw out learning and being willing to stretch yourself. Depending on your current level of experience as an Organiser, you may be set assignments such as reading recommended articles/books, listening to relevant podcasts, attending specific training sessions, etc.

WHAT WE DO
Young people from lower income families are 40% less likely to go to University than wealthier peers (Dept for Education, 2020) which can have a lifelong impact on earning potential. Covid-19 has deepened inequalities (Social Mobility Foundation, 2022) and negatively impacted on young people's wellbeing (GirlGuiding, 2020). We believe that no girls should have their futures limited by their gender, sex, ethnicity, background, or parental income and they should be supported to realise their ambitions, to discover their self-worth, and to develop their capacity to shape their world and their futures.
We work in communities of least advantage across England to deliver two core programmes to achieve this vision. Through our mentoring programme we connect 14-19 year old girls with a mentor and a wider network of role models who are women and deliver opportunities which help them to build life skills and nurture their ambitions. Based on the idea that 'you can't be what you can't see', our mentors often help girls to broaden their horizons and create a more positive vision of their futures. THE ROLE
Purpose: To manage the effective implementation of programme delivery and development of Merseyside, Tyne and Wear, and Tees Valley Regions. This role will work with staff, schools and corporate partners to ensure that we deliver impact for the girls and young women we serve.
Manage The Girls’ Network mentoring (and other) programmes in your region:
Partnership development:
- Develop effective partnerships with new schools, recruiting them into The Girls’ Network’s programme to enable your team to meet regional targets. Maintaining relationships for successful renewals.
- Collaborate with fundraising colleagues during the engagement process of new corporate partners, to ensure regional targets and needs are met e.g. income, mentor numbers, programme content.
- Oversee delivery of mentor opportunities for the region’s corporate partnerships, ensuring Memorandum of Understanding are met, referring any issues of concern to the Fundraising team for support and guidance.
- Provide relevant information to fundraising and Monitoring Evaluation Research and Learning colleagues on any Tier 1 partners in the region, to enable production of evaluation reports
- Lead on delivery of the region’s awareness events, acting as the key contact person.
- Collaborate with the Fundraising & Communications team on key campaigns, e.g. International Womens’ Day, to reach key audiences and help build awareness and support income generation.
Mentor Community Development:
- Work with programme colleagues and the fundraising team to identify regional mentoring needs and coordinate the implementation of a mentor recruitment and engagement plan in your region, ensuring your region has an appropriate amount of mentors to run programmes.
- Lead on the implementation and delivery of the region’s events, acting as the key contact person.
Safeguarding support and leadership:
- Provide day-to-day safeguarding support for the Programme team in the North of the country – escalating issues to the Safeguarding lead where appropriate.
- Provide feedback on key safeguarding risks or issues, and needs for development or training to the Safeguarding Lead
Monitoring and evaluation:
- Oversee the collection of regional data and ensure that your staff keep Salesforce up to date with mentee, mentor, schools and partners relationships to effectively track the progress, and impact of mentoring relationships.
- Periodically evaluate and report on the progress and impact of The Girls’ Network initiatives in the region.
- Hold overall responsibility for regional targets, reporting to Senior Leadership Team.
- Manage and allocate the budget for the mentoring programme in the region, to cover workshops, celebration events, travel etc
Line Management of region’s Network Managers:
- Manage Network Managers in the region, through regular 1:1s and accountability of reporting.
- Support the wellbeing and professional development of your regional team.
- Cover or support with programme delivery when needed.
Grow our network in your region:
- Identify opportunities for growth in North region and work with Senior Leadership Team to develop regional strategy
- Advocate and promote The Girls’ Network at every opportunity to raise awareness of the charity and encourage community members to become mentors
Programme Leadership within The Girls’ Network Team:
Learning & Development
- Provide shadowing opportunities to Network Managers in other regions.
- As agreed with the Co-Executive Director - Programmes (Interim), travel to other regions to provide targeted training to other Network Managers.
- Coordinate Network Managers’ induction and recruitment.
- Contribute to The Girls’ Network culture of shared learning
Responsibility for an additional workstream:
- Each senior network manager is responsible for progressing aspects of programme workstream to timelines agreed with the accountable member of Senior Leadership Team. These may vary with need over time. Workstream to be agreed with Line Manager, but may include worksteams such as:
- Programme Process and Resource Development
- Safeguarding
- Sales Development etc

Essential skills, knowledge and attributes:

- You have line management experience
- You are flexible in your approach to working with a small organisation and understand the time and resources it takes to deliver
Desirable skills, knowledge and attributes:
- Have experience using a Customer Relationship Management system / Salesforce for tracking communications and income, and to create reports
- You have a high standard of computer literacy (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and are able to adapt quickly to new systems as required.
- You are proactive, solution focused and quick to learn
- You are able to plan and prioritise your own workload, supporting others to do the same
- You have experience of safeguarding young people.

The Interim Communications Director will play a pivotal role in developing and leading the communications strategy to strengthen Capitals Coalition’s positioning as a credible and trusted voice as we transition into our new strategic phase.
With a strong background in strategic communications you will work with the CEO, Executive and Leadership Teams, as well as a wide range of stakeholders to champion the Coalition’s brand and narrative for the new strategy. Managing a small communications function and leveraging our cutting-edge projects and networks, you will amplify the Coalition’s voice and inspire key audiences in business, finance and government.

What you will do

Develop - and oversee the implementation of - a new communications strategy and the positioning of the Capitals Coalition with external stakeholders. This includes bringing cohesion across initiatives, amplifying and promoting key outputs and targeting communications to achieve organizational goals.

Lead and develop a strong narrative for action that is supported by messaging and visual assets and ensure these are embedded across Capitals Coalition communications. This includes determining key audiences, messengers and moments, and identifying key indicators to track and monitor progress.

Develop, maintain, and disseminate strategic messaging that underpins both reactive and proactive communications tactics in line with strategic objectives and policy positioning.

Identify, foster and manage productive and impactful relationships with key communication and engagement stakeholders, including press contacts, communications specialists in partner organizations, and key partners for outputs and events.

Promote an innovative approach to communications using all media, staying abreast of advancements in the profession to ensure the Capitals Coalition can make best use of a mix of communication channels.

Drive creative insights and strategic thinking across the Capitals Coalition with respect to communications to maximize impact and reach.

Build relationships by representing the Coalition on external working groups, at events, and in the media as appropriate.

Support, prepare and coach staff, spokespeople and board members for media interviews and visits and provide guidance across the organization about dealing with the media.

What we’re looking for

12+ years of experience in strategic communications and/or PR and at least 5 years of experience managing others;

Experience developing and executing a communications strategy for a global organization, using knowledge of how communications supports the delivery of wider organizational goals;

Experience developing, supporting and executing advocacy campaigns;

Experience in economic transformation, new economics or sustainability fields including excellent understanding of economic transformation, sustainability and business issues and ability to anticipate and adapt messaging in relation to context and audience;

Ability to summarize and synthesize complex reports, findings and information to make them accessible for a diverse audience;

Knowledge of branding and design is an asset;

Proven leadership with seasoned judgment, the ability to make decisions, justify recommendations and be responsive, clear and firm with colleagues and partners;
