About the Role

• The Connection Community is a place where people can gain respite from street homelessness, engage in group and coproduction activities, develop social inclusion and reduce isolation and have their needs met by a committed and dedicated multi-disciplinary team.
• You will be joining a dynamic and creative team, focused on building trust through relationships.
• You will support the team to identify, engage and provide harm minimisation to our clients whilst promoting a sense of belonging, and working with clients to support them on their journey towards a place to call home.
• Together we are piloting a new approach to working with people experiencing homelessness in Westminster facing multiple exclusion. We are creating a psychologically-informed environment, adopting a trauma-informed model with direct support from a team of specialist NHS psychologists.
• You will have experience in delivering a psychologically, gender and culturally informed service to people who are experiencing street homelessness.  You will be both strength-based and solution-focused, developing and enhancing the service with a commitment to embedding coproduction.

The role is a key part of the Doctors of the World (DOTW) UK Policy and Advocacy team, contributing to the implementation of our three-year strategy and maximising the impact of our policy and advocacy function. The team focuses on influencing UK health and migration policy, improving access to NHS services for minoritised communities and populations and strengthening the right to health in the UK.

The post holder will play a critical role in ensuring DOTW UK’s advocacy and influencing work is informed by our service users’ experiences and seeks to bring about the changes they want to see. To this end, the role will lead work with DOTWs expert by experience group, liaising and coordinating different engagement activities, identifying co-production opportunities and supporting members of the group to meaningfully participate in the organisation’s advocacy work and drive change.

Barnardo's Adoption Midlands and South West

2 Social Worker vacancies (could consider full time or part time working) to cover work across our region which includes East & West Midlands, South West and Thames Valley.  Work is allocated near to workers home address where possible but willingness to travel is a key feature of this position. These will be hybrid posts and the postholders will be required to travel regularly to an office locations either in Tickenham (near Clevedon) or Halesowen.  

Development of Service
This is a service that currently works in adoption and adoption support and covers the Midlands region (West and East Midlands) and the South West region (including the Thames Valley area).  

Objectives of Service - Adoption
The primary aim of the Service is to provide the highest quality of adoption placement and adoption support services.

Our objectives include:-

To recruit, assess and approve a diverse range of adoptive families to meet the needs of waiting children.

To carefully match the needs of waiting children with the skills of the prospective adopters.

To ensure all Barnardo's adopters have access to training, guidance and support when they require it.

To work directly with adoptive families in need of therapeutic support and with the Services Therapeutic Team to help build and maintain family relationships.

A commitment to listen to our children, young people, adopters and stakeholders to enable us to progress on our journey of continuous learning and improvement.

Initial Specific Responsibilities 

As a Social Worker in the team you will be involved in all aspects of the adoption process. You will work as part of a committed Team with a mixture of face to face and virtual work.

You will receive regular supervision by a manager in the Service and you will work closely with the other Social Workers, support workers, therapists, and administrators.

Social Workers are involved in the recruitment and taking initial enquiries on a duty system. Then undertaking Initial visits and AAR assessments, these comprehensive reports are then presented to Panel.

The Social Worker will work with the support worker in the Team with Family Finding, and liaise regularly with adopters who are looking for a match nationwide. The Social Worker will attend Exchange days, Profiling meeting, Activity Days and DVD meetings nationwide to discuss potential matches with Social Workers from other Regional Adoption Agencies (RAA), and support Barnardo's adopters at these events.

The Social Worker will prepare adopters for visits from RAA's regarding potential matches. If a match is identified the Social Worker will accompany the adopters to the meetings in the child's Local Authority to meet foster carers, medical advisor, schools and nurseries (this can happen anywhere in the country and may be face to face or virtual dependent on circumstances and the Local Authority involved). The Social Worker will prepare paperwork for Matching Panel and attend with adopters.

The Social Worker will support the adopters in introductions, and visit regularly until the Adoption Order is granted and beyond if required. 

The Social Worker will assist in arranging therapeutic input and applications to the Adoption Support Fund.

The Social Worker will liaise with other professionals involved with the family and work closely with the placing RAA.

The Social Worker will be involved in supporting families with post adoption support and liaising with the therapists and arranging packages of support.

The Social Worker will attend support groups for the adopters and be involved with the preparation and ongoing training of adopters. This involves some weekend working.

Supplementary Information 

This post requires a professional Social Work Qualification (Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW or CSS) and Registration with Social Work England or the ability to register (or proof that they are about to gain registration).

The post holder will need to be able to work flexible hours (occasionally weekends and often evenings) and be prepared to travel when required and on occasion stay away overnight on a planned basis. There is an opportunity to take Time Offered in Lieu.

The Social Worker will need to be able to travel to meet the requirements of the post and have access to a suitable vehicle for use in work.

Social Workers will also need to participate in the “Helpline” rota Out of Hours. There is additional remuneration for providing this service.

Job Description

The Head of Finance Business Partnering will:

• Lead financial planning and the production of the Force's Medium-Term Resource Strategy and Capital Programme Plan, ensuring alignment with the Strategic Planning Cycle.
• Work closely with the Chief Finance Officer (CFO), Head of Finance, and Head of Management Accounting to ensure departmental strategies align with the Force's financial objectives.
• Provide insightful financial analysis, advice, and assurance to support senior decision-making on resource allocation and funding priorities.
• Ensure the Finance Business Partner (FBP) model is embedded in decision-making, driving the Centre of Excellence (COE) framework across projects, policies, capital, and Oracle systems.
• Collaborate with the CFO during the financial forecasting and strategic planning cycle to incorporate decisions into financial strategies.
• Contribute to the financial sections of the Force Management Statement, ensuring alignment with workforce planning and other Force areas.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Head of Finance Business Partnering will be/have:

• Qualified Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (C.C.A.B.) or CIMA accountant.
• Recent experience of working within a finance business partnering model or the ability to demonstrate an awareness of what is required to deliver the outcomes of the model.
• Understand personal and professional strengths and development needs and be able to evidence the steps taken to enhance your continuing professional development.
• Ability to interpret complex or detailed legislation, policy or strategy documents to identify financial implications and provide insightful financial advice.
• Strong commercial acumen with the desire to help drive business performance and show the wider business how finance can add value on a day-to-day basis.
• Experience of advising, challenging and negotiating with senior officers, managers and budget holders in a confident manner.
• Ability to use a range of communication and influencing techniques to successfully negotiate, collaborate or effect change in relation to matters of a specialist / technical nature.

About the Primary Science Teaching Trust (PSTT)

PSTT is a registered charity with a clear vision – we want to see excellent teaching of science in every primary classroom in the UK. We believe it is vital that children are engaged and inspired by science from an early age. We want to draw on their natural curiosity to help them explore, understand and ask questions about the world around them.

We’ve built a Primary Science Teacher College of over 200 outstanding teachers; each helping to shape and influence science teaching across the UK. We produce great resources that improve how science is taught and planned. We organise engaging professional learning events for teachers, and work with partner organisations to further enhance how science is taught. Our 2023-28 strategy is building on these strengths to reach more teachers across a more diverse range of schools.

We’re dedicating our most intensive efforts to areas of the UK requiring most development in primary science. Our Priority Areas initiative is being piloted in 30 schools, and in September 2025 we plan to launch this programme in a further 30 schools. Our Regional Mentors have worked with more than 3,000 schools across England, with exceptionally positive feedback.

Job summary

There are two parts to the Primary Science Mentor role. The majority of the role will focus on strengthening primary science teaching and leadership by leading our second Priority Areas initiative. Through their knowledge of and passion for primary science education, the successful candidate will inspire transformational change in schools taking part in this project. They will build close working relationships with participating schools and create a vibrant and exciting learning community based on mutual support and the sharing of expertise.

The remaining hours in the role will be as a Regional Mentor: joining PSTT’s growing team of primary science experts who provide bespoke support directly to individual schools, multi-academy trusts and other school groupings and organisations. This includes developing and delivering training in a variety of contexts, including online; working individually with Science Leaders; being a leading voice, expert and advocate for primary science (both regionally and nationally); and creating partnerships with other organisations that support science within the region.

A crucial part of the role is to ensure collection of appropriate data for both Priority Areas and Regional Mentor activities, so that we can evaluate our work against intended outcomes.

About the Youth Endowment Fund 

We’re here to prevent children from becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to change things.  

In recent years, violent crime involving children has increased. This is a tragedy. Every child is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them.

The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment that exists to reverse this trend. We will achieve this by finding out what works to prevent youth violence and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice. We do this by funding, evaluating and then spreading the very best work on reducing youth violence across England and Wales. 

Key Responsibilities 

Your focus will be to ensure that the office environment at YEF is a welcoming and inclusive one, being the first point of contact for new starters, employees and external stakeholders. You will be dedicated, in ensuring that the office environment is set up for employees to have a positive, collaborative and engaging experience while working from the office. Office Management 

Ensure the physical and virtual spaces in which we work at YEF are excellently managed and a welcoming place to work. This would include: 

• Being a strong and personable office lead. Be welcoming to colleagues new and old and make an ongoing effort to integrate them into the team. 

• Ensuring that the office space is well managed including well stocked office supplies and refreshments. 

• Leading monthly social team activities that foster a sense of belonging. 

• Ensuring we have the systems to make collaboration really easy, liaising directly with our IT supplier and pointing out areas of improvement or discussing how things can be done better. 

HR administration 

Help ensure that projects related to HR or supporting people are done brilliantly. This may require you getting stuck in with some administrative tasks or keeping track of who needs to do what by when. 

• Helping to organise the annual appraisal of staff (setting up and collecting in forms and making sure everyone knows what’s going on) so that everyone learns and develops. 

• Making sure the online system we use for employee records is up to date, well organised and that someone technical fixes things if needed.

• Ensuring that the policies we have (on things like pay, holidays, being in the office etc). are easy for staff to find and that someone is prompted to remind staff about them regularly. 

• Coming to know our staff policies inside out, so that staff can go to you to get a question answered. 

Help us recruit brilliant people by:

• Supporting the administration of the end-to-end recruitment process, such advertising jobs online, arranging interviews, managing candidate correspondences and the keeping up to date records. 

• Assisting in the first phase of CV reviews (spotting great people). 

• Organising and managing all new starter documentation, such as; right to work, references, issuing of an employee contract and DBS’s (where appropriate) 

• Ensuring new staff have the right equipment and IT on day one. Being the go-to person for their administrative questions. 

• Onboarding new team members on our office space and IT systems 

General administration 

Make sure some of most important meetings are incredibly effective. You’ll do this by 

• Organising those meetings (booking rooms, inviting people), taking great minutes, making sure we keep track of things we said we would do and saving the documents in the right place.

• Working really well with colleagues to organise documents and information for reports. 

• Supporting people, you work most closely with (the wider operations team) on some of the more important processes, including audits and document maintenance. 

Team Culture 

You will be passionate about supporting to maintain a strong values-led team culture and able to demonstrate what that means.

• Supporting our Culture Lead to prepare and deliver excellently planned and engaging quarterly team away days. This includes visiting event spaces, managing catering and providing excellent support on the day – including activities.

We're Hiring: Advocates - London Stalking Support Service, Stalking Threat Assessment Centre and National Advocacy
In partnership with MOPAC, this specialist role is your chance to support victims of stalking with expert advice and advocacy for London, all while hlping to shape a trauma-informed, survivor-led approach that leads the sector.  The Stalking Threat Assessment centre is a multi-agency partnership involving the Metropolitan Police, NHS mental health services and Probation services to effectively manage stalking perpetrators and support victims.  Advocates within this team are co-located within the STAC unit, minimum one day a week.

We are looking for a dedicated Advocacy Campaigns Manager to join our Advocacy team within Action Against Hunger UK's Operations department.  This is a great time to join our team as we broaden the reach of our public advocacy campaigns to a wider audience.
