Children & Young People’s Residential Practitioners
Salary: £27,400 to £29,000 pa + benefits (based on a 36-hr working week)
Location: Working exclusively at our all-female Children’s Home, Yvonne House, SW8 (Zone 2)
Hours: Full-time, shift work
The setting is an all-female Children’s Home for 13-to-17-year-olds.
Ideal candidates will join a strong team of Practitioners who put love and kindness into everything they do.
We are passionate about learning and development and committed to providing an outstanding experience for all staff. After completing your probation, we’ll enrol you on a Diploma programme and give you the time, support and incentives to succeed.
Practitioners typically work at least two 12-hr shifts pw, one 8hr shift, and attend team meetings, training, and group thinking space on Fridays from 9.30am to 12.30pm. The total number of working hours is 36 hrs pw. 4hrs per week are allocated to self-study to support the successful completion of your probation and, once enrolled, the Children and Young People’s Practitioner Diploma (Level 4).

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Health Information to join us to provide strategic oversight and management of Cancer Research UK's (CRUK) health information to the public, covering cancer prevention, screening and diagnosis. The team is one of a number at CRUK that reviews and synthesises evidence, differing in terms of their audience focus and/or topic focus. The successful candidate will need to work closely with their peers to ensure that CRUK has the maximum impact across all their audiences to improve cancer outcomes.
About the team
The Health Information team work to inform and engage the public with information on cancer prevention, early diagnosis and screening. We do this using evidence and look for opportunities to reach those who need it most. We use our knowledge and communications expertise to guide and shape activity across the charity including policy, partnerships and fundraising.
What will I be doing?
Oversee the provision of high quality, accessible and evidence-based health information including maintaining a good understanding of best practice
Provide strategic direction for CRUK's health information priority topics to maximise impact across public facing channels including but not limited to health marketing, communications and partnerships
Act as a senior subject matter expert on health information and use of evidence, advising senior internal and external stakeholders (Executive Board, other charities, researchers)
Act as a senior media spokesperson and provide expert sign-off for health information content used in a range of external channels (including press and policy influencing)
Provide functional leadership to the health information team, ensuring that their time is prioritised effectively to focus on the areas of greatest impact - including balancing proactive workload and support for other teams.
Responsible for managing the team budgets to ensure activity and services are delivered in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Build effective relationships with other evidence teams and policy to minimise duplication of effort, ensure consistency of messaging, and maximise our impact on a range of topics in support of CRUK and PIC's wider influencing and engagement strategy
What skills are we looking for?

The Diocese of Southwark is one of the 42 dioceses of the Church of England, created in 1905 from part of the ancient Diocese of Rochester. Working under the Bishop's Lead for Social and Racial Justice and the Diocesan Secretary, the Racial Justice Development Lead will promote and implement the Diocesan Anti-Racism Charter (ARC). Launched in March 2021, the ARC was introduced to actively counter, disrupt and oppose racial injustice. The role will focus on promotion, engagement, training, resources, research, and data monitoring, while addressing the needs of the wider Diocese and parishes.
Key responsibilities
- Advocate for racial justice within Diocesan structures, by promoting best practices in diversity, inclusion, and belonging with a biblical foundation.
- Provide support and advice to parishes, deaneries and clergy on implementing the Anti-Racism Charter and developing culturally appropriate worship and faith practices.
- Collaborate with parishes, schools and Area Racial Justice Groups to share experiences, support meetings, and coordinate events related to racial justice.
- Collect, analyse and report data on racial injustice, ensuring alignment with Diocesan and National Church Requirements, while staying informed on relevant trends.
Candidates will have a strong understanding of racial justice, anti-racism, equality, and inclusion, especially within a church context, and have proven ability to lead engagement/change programmes. The ideal candidate will be able to collaborate with diverse stakeholders from various disciplines and perspectives. Experience in organising medium to large events and a willingness to understand the structure and dynamics of the Church of England and its Dioceses is desirable. Collaboration is a core value for Diocesan staff and therefore you must be able to work as part of a team for this role.
The role may involve travel across the Diocese and requires flexibility, including occasional evening and weekend meetings.

Purpose
