About the role
Through community development we work in close collaboration with our respective Parkinson’s communities to bring change on the issues that matter most to people affected by Parkinson’s - whether directly or with their friends, family and carers.
You’ll provide high quality support to the communities of people affected by Parkinson’s in Scotland.
This role is being advertised as full time (35 hours per week) but we are willing to consider applications from candidates who wish to work 28 hours per week.
What you’ll do:
- Provide first point of contact for new people affected by Parkinson’s wanting to engage with our community facing work in Scotland
- Promote and market activities in local areas to ensure our community are aware of all the offers available to support them
- Support the development of new activities with our community both locally and nationally in Scotland, by establishing contact with other organisations and individuals in Scotland
- Organise online and in-person, internal and external meetings and events, including booking venues and refreshments, assisting with the production of materials, fulfilling mailings and taking bookings for our community development work across Scotland
- Develop efficient processes and systems that support the running of all of our community-facing work in Scotland
What you’ll bring:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate when required at all levels internally and externally
- Ability to work co-productively with people living with Parkinson’s and those affected by it
- Excellent administration and support skills, including note-taking, presentation preparation and a positive, assertive and resilient approach to prioritising and juggling varying pressures and conflicting priorities
- Experience in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously that meet business requirements

Aquarius is a charity that helps people and communities overcome the harm caused by alcohol, drugs and gambling. We are part of ‘One Recovery Buckinghamshire’ (ORB), a partnership between Inclusion (MPFT NHS Trust), Aquarius, ADFAM and Build on Belief providing support for alcohol and drug issues across Buckinghamshire. We are looking for a Complex Needs Practitioner (Family Practitioner) to join our team in High Wycombe.
The purpose of the role is to engage people who are affected by someone’s substance use in a variety of interventions, using a person-centred approach, empowering them to reduce risk, increase resilience and achieve positive outcomes.
All Complex Needs Practitioners (Family Practitioners) work flexibly across the community and within our multi-agency partnership settings. The caseload will include a mixture of community and multi-agency referral pathways including health and social care. You will join our caring multi-disciplinary teams, to help empower you to provide quality psychosocial interventions to our diverse client groups. Complex Need Practitioners (Family Practitioner) will work with support, training and recognised best practice family interventions, in collaboration with our partners ADFAM.
A core part of the role will be working with people to address holistic support needs across all aspects of the person’s substance use and wellbeing. This could include diverse work related to physical & emotional wellbeing, knowledge and understanding of drugs / alcohol / treatment, relationship with substance user, relationships with family and friends, meaningful activity, self-care and goal setting.
An energetic and confident self-starter, you have experience in Family/Carer work or a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, DipSW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies). Alternatively, we’ll consider candidates with experience of working in family support or the substance misuse field with a commitment to complete NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care. Experience of liaising with voluntary and statutory agencies and health professionals and engaging effectively with clients in a variety of settings is essential. You’ll also need a flexible approach, excellent record keeping and report writing skills and a willingness to work flexibly across the community and within our multi-agency partnership settings, on an outreach basis, with a central hub base at our head office.
This is a permanent full-time role requiring the post holder to work 37 hours per week.

About the role:
As Vision Rehabilitation Specialist, you will identify, deliver and evaluate professional rehabilitation interventions to vision impaired people to enhance their skills and confidence to maximise their independence.
You will provide a person-centred outcome-focussed approach to rehabilitation; supporting people to identify measurable outcomes, carry out assessments and develop a plan that will support each person to achieve their outcomes and meet their needs, reducing risks and lessening the impact of their VI.
The Vision Rehabilitation Specialist will work collaboratively with other services within the organisation to ensure individuals are receiving support whilst waiting for assessment and rehabilitation.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Triage – To carry out an initial conversation, in line with the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act, to identify further actions, and risk factors, refer and signpost to the organisation’s wider services and other organisations to meet the individuals’ desired outcomes.
- Assessment - To undertake specialist VI assessments with the person to identify their needs and aspirations to promote independent living.
- Plan – To agree a plan with the person about how their needs can be met, through other services, equipment and rehabilitation.
- Rehabilitation and service provision – To implement, evaluate and review rehabilitative services to the vision-impaired person aimed at maximising and maintaining independence, safety, dignity, and choice. Rehabilitation may include, but not be restricted to:
- Daily Living Skills – to include the teaching of new skills or adapted practice for all aspects of daily living, home management, employment and leisure.
- Communication Skills – to include all forms of access to communication including but not limited to print, Braille, Moon, audio description, ICT, telephones, Deafblind manual and block alphabet.
- Mobility training – To develop planned programmes of training to develop independence in indoor and outdoor mobility environments, including training in guiding skills, pre-cane, long cane, orientation (including specialist equipment) and route planning techniques.
- Low vision - To provide training/therapy in coordination with local NHS low vision services that help individuals make the best use of functional vision.
- Risk –To identify, assess and mitigate risk throughout the rehabilitation provision.
- To work with vision-impaired people who have additional complex needs.
- To assess and recommend minor works of adaptation and liaise with all relevant parties in line with appropriate budgets and policies.
- To provide statistical information to feed into quarterly contract monitoring reports.
- To enable the Local Authority to maintain their Partially Sighted/Sight Impaired and Blind/Severely Sight Impaired Registers.
Key skills required for this role:
- Foundation Degree in Rehabilitation Studies (Visual Impairment) or equivalent.
- Ability to develop clear plans and communicate these to service users and other staff.
- Recognised rehabilitation work qualification (or currently working towards it)
- Proven experience in performing rehabilitation assessments with visually impaired people and providing mobility, communication and daily living skills training.
- Working knowledge of good practice relating to safeguarding.
- Ability to deliver training/advice sessions to individuals or groups of service users, carers and other organisations.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, including lone worker policies.
- Ability to travel and work in all areas of Flintshire and Wrexham.
- Strong personal organisation/time management.
- Proven track record of maintaining and updating personal records for clients.

About the organisation:

Offering a wide variety of services for vision-impaired people across Cheshire, Halton and North Wales, including counselling, digital skills, financial wellbeing and benefits advice, home visiting, community outreach, and peer support. You will be responsible for the financial management and strategic financial overview of the Charity. You will contribute to the corporate needs and development of the charity, with advice and input grounded in sound financial strategy and legal principles. You will maintain effective management systems and controls to safeguard the financial integrity of the charity and ensure that all departments are promptly and accurately informed about their financial performance and fulfil the role of Company Secretary.
Key projects you can expect to work on this year include investment in the future growth of the charity; and the procurement of new central systems software including finance software fit for a growing charity.

You will have:
- Worked as a Finance Director in a similar size and/or larger organisation.
- Experience of strategic financial planning including budget cashflow preparation and offering support to non-financial staff with budgetary responsibility.

- Qualified chartered accountant or management accountant (FCA, ACCA, CIMA etc).
- Proficiency in the use of finance software systems and related software.
- Knowledge of charity accounting standards, best practice financial management and key issues facing the sector i.e., SORP

About The Role

Your new role
To provide support to the Assistant Registrar and team in enabling them to make informed decisions regarding applications to the register and following the Registrar's decision to assist in the management of the Registrar's appeal process.
Case management of registration applications
- Manage a caseload of registration applications. Gather evidence in order to ensure the Registrar is able to make informed judgements and decisions.
- Evaluate whether applications for renewal or readmission satisfy the post-registration education and practice standards.
- Assess information provided by the applicants and from other relevant sources.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the management of cases is supported by the appropriate expert advice, including the police service and medical professionals and employers.
- Act as the contact point for the applicants, responding to their queries and proactively updating them on the progress of their cases.
- Investigate any issues that may affect the Registrar's judgement on registration applications. Issues of whether the applicant is safe and effective to practise, whether they hold approved qualifications and whether they satisfy the prescribed standards of continual professional development.
- Quality assure each case prior to presentation to the Registrar, ensuring all relevant information is presented.
- Prepare reports and present cases to the Registrar for decision and offer advice on cases when required.
- Minute meetings to ensure decisions are accurately recorded and updated. Relay these decisions to applicants in line with SOP.
Case management of Registration appeals
- Manage a caseload of appeals ensuring that cases are created appropriately and managed in line with standard operating procedures
- Act as the contact point for the appellants, responding to their queries and proactively updating them on the progress of their cases.
- Engage with all stakeholders, including witnesses, employers and other organisations as required. Write witness statements and take evidence from witnesses.
- Liaise with members of registration and legal advisors to ensure that appeals are managed through investigation within the agreed timescales and KPI's.
- Record the outcome of appeal hearings and meetings, updating the in-house and other data recording systems.

- Casework management, able to organise, prioritise and respond flexibly to changing demands. Able to work proactively to deliver against targets and tight deadlines.

About the role:
This hybrid role is based in Brighton & Hove, which includes a combination of home and office-based working. You will meet regularly with young clients throughout Brighton & Hove at safe locations of their choosing.
As a Children and Young Person's Housing IDVA you will:
Empower young survivors and support them to identify features and dynamics of domestic abuse
Work with young survivors aged 16-25 years, with a particular focus on cases where housing, homelessness and risk of tenancy breakdown is a factor
Hold a caseload of varying complexity, prioritising high risk cases
Conduct comprehensive needs and risk assessments
Participate in the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC), acting as the voice of the young person and delivering on actions agreed
Attend multi-disciplinary meetings, including child protection, child in need and others
Use a person-centred, survivor-focused approach, being mindful of the effects of trauma and additional barriers to accessing safe accommodation that children and young people may experience
Take the lead on the development of responses to the needs of at-risk young survivors with a housing need, and the development of relationships and referral pathways with partner agencies in this area
Assist in delivering training, and provide workshops, consultancy and advice to other agencies as required
You will need:
An understanding of the issues faced by young survivors experiencing domestic abuse
A good understanding of housing legislation and accommodation options for young people experiencing housing insecurity, including social housing, private rented, and emergency placement
