We have an exciting opportunity for a Signposting and Collection Session Coordinator as part of our Foodbank team. This new role will provide dedicated 1-2-1 support to people accessing the Foodbank, delivering Foodbank collection sessions and developing our remote and in-person signposting and support for those accessing the Foodbank. This is a fast-faced, person-centered role, having a direct impact on the lives of local people experiencing hardship

Key responsibilities of this role will be:

• Providing operational support to Foodbank collection centres in host venues across Lambeth and Croydon
• Providing and developing wraparound support to those accessing the Foodbank
• Delivering and developing in-person and remote signposting
• Working with volunteers, partner organisations and host venues to provide effective and efficient support through collection sessions and beyond

The successful post holder must have:

• Proven experience of working or volunteering within a not-for-profit organisation/other food bank
• Experience working with people with multiple and complex needs
• Excellent communication skills

Role Summary

The Challenge Events Officer will work closely with the Senior Community and Challenge Events Manager (SCCEM) and Engagement Assistant (EA) to deliver significant elements of the charity’s fundraising strategy, in particular our challenge events. St George’s Hospital Charity manages a portfolio of over 200 Special Purpose Funds (SPFs), with a total over £3.6m. These funds, comprising donor-gifted and community-fundraised income, are designated to support specific wards, departments, research areas, or staff and patient groups. Each SPF is overseen by designated Fund Advisors, comprising staff from St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (the Trust) and City, St George’s University of London, who hold delegated authority for expenditure approvals and funding applications. With over 350 Fund Advisors, effective stewardship is crucial.

We have developed a new organisational strategy focused on enhancing our impact through grant-making, and we are now in an exciting phase of implementation. The Grants Funds Manager will play a central role in delivering this strategy, specifically by implementing a more streamlined and impactful approach to working with Fund Advisors and managing our SPF portfolio. This role will be pivotal in facilitating the transition to a more efficient and effective model of SPF giving. The Grants Funds Manager will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of the SPF portfolio, stakeholder engagement, communications, marketing, and administration, requiring collaboration across the Charity, the Trust, and the University at all levels.

Our daily efforts significantly impact patients, their loved ones, and many dedicated healthcare professionals.

Presently, we contribute grants and generate funds of £2 million annually. With an ambitious goal, we aim to double both our yearly fundraising and grant allocations to reach £4 million within the coming years.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Purpose of the role

To support senior management, the board of trustees and the wider charity leadership team with the strategy implementation, the management and administration of the Charity’s SPFs. As a priority, in the next 12 months, this role is tasked to implement the SPF strategy which has been agreed by the Charity’s Board of Trustees. The strategy is to re-organise and restructure the shape of the SPF portfolio of funds to minimise administrative burden, maximise the charity’s flexibility in spending decisions and reflect the best possible structure of services in the hospital so that we can deliver our charitable purposes of advancing healthcare to maximum effect.

This is why we are looking for someone who has expertise in change management, stakeholder engagement and strategic communication who is able to understand Charity Commission guidance and apply it. These are the skills necessary to implement the SPF strategy.

The next stage of the strategy will require a very strong grasp of detail, strong and confident communication and organisational skills to ensure stakeholders understand planned changes, in order to secure their support for them.

Background to the role

This role was originally created to provide dedicated resource to optimise the efficiency of our SPF portfolio, and champion these SPFs both internally among the Charity’s staff and externally within the Trust and University.

This is a role which must operate at a micro and macro level, paying attention to the detail of management, administration and systems but also with the ability to think strategically and make recommendations to senior management and trustees. The successful candidate will be highly organised and outgoing and will be an excellent project manager, with lots of initiative and the ability to reach out to people to build strong relationships. 

You will be a key member of the Grants team and be managed by the Head of Grants, but you will also work closely with all charity teams given the nature of this all-encompassing role, including providing an important link between Grants and Fundraising because of the income raised into SPFs.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. 

Their vision is to find a cure for all types of brain tumours. To achieve their mission, they are looking for a Community Fundraiser who will proactively engage with supporters, community groups and volunteers across the West Midlands to join their team of 12 Community Fundraisers across the UK.

The Community Fundraiser (West Midlands) is responsible for providing support and guidance to fundraisers within their communities to achieve their ambitions and ultimately raise vital funds for Brain Tumour Research. This is achieved through a wide variety of activities such as helping supporters to make the most of their own fundraising, engaging participants with externally organised events such as the Great Birmingham Run, and encouraging communities to get involved in events organised by Brain Tumour Research such as Wear a Hat Day and Walk for Hope. The Community Fundraiser will be the face of Brain Tumour Research in the area, providing excellent stewardship to existing supporters, and building great relationships with new supporters.

This post has been vacant since Autumn, and as such needs a fundraiser with confidence and capability in fundraising to join the team, provide donor love to the loyal supporters in the area, and approach developing the areas potential with energy and enthusiasm. Make a Change 

Make a Change is a community-wide, early response approach to people using abusive behaviours (or who are concerned that they might be) towards a current or ex-partner. The model has been developed by Respect in partnership with Women’s Aid Federation England, drawing inspiration from their Change that Lasts approach. It includes three strands: expert support programme for perpetrators with parallel support for survivors, workforce development and community outreach.

Improving the safety, freedom and wellbeing of adult and child survivors of domestic abuse is a key outcome for our work with perpetrators.  The Make a Change model is a multi-partner project offering local areas a framework for delivering perpetrator work. This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring individual to develop their career in a charity that is passionate about families with young children. We're looking for someone who is a self-starter, well-organised and committed to the cause. In addition to providing administrative support to the organisation, you will be a natural communicator who is comfortable with using social and creative media, as well as basic IT systems. 

Home-Start Barnet delivers early intervention programmes to families with young children, who have multiple needs and are struggling to cope with the challenges they face. Our trained volunteers provide the emotional support needed to prevent crisis and the practical tools to empower parents and carers to give their children the best start in life.

Key responsibilities are to:

• Handle all incoming communications - phone, email and other communications
• Provide central administration support to the charity
• Support and build engagement across different social media channels
• Update content for HSB’s website
• Support and help organise training and events

The role is based at our offices in Finchley, N3. Due to the nature of our work, we require someone to be present in the office 5 days a week. We have a welcoming and relaxed office environment, but also take pride in our professional standards.

We welcome applications from candidates who may not have previous office or administrative experience, but who can demonstrate that they have the right skills and are keen to learn. This role would suit new graduates, or someone who would like to work shorter days around other commitments.
