Purpose of the Role

This volunteer role is a key part of the HFEH Mind team delivering a range of services across Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow. We support clients with mental health with both clinical and non-clinical interventions.

Compass is a service designed to support adults (18 years and over) in H&F and Hounslow. The service provides support with welfare benefits, debt, housing and well-being/peer support groups/workshops.

The Ealing Pathways service is designed to support adults (18 years and over) with stable mental illness to stay well and avoid acute admission in the borough of Ealing. The service provides support with welfare benefits, debt, housing and well-being advice service.

As a part of this, we are looking for volunteers to support with both services. The role of the volunteer includes supporting with onboarding and contacting clients onto our services as well as completing administrative tasks.

Main Responsibilities

To work closely with the Compass/Pathways service team and support the services with enquiries and support the service users to access the service.

• Triage clients for the service through an onboarding process.
• Support with follow up surveys and questionnaires for those who have accessed the project and obtain their feedback to improve our services.
• Support the Compass/Pathways team to promote the service to the local community.
• Support with administrative tasks including recording information onto our database ‘Views’.
• Supporting clients by picking up ‘light touch cases’ e.g. form filling and welfare benefit checks.

Type of person we are looking for:

Essential

• An interest in supporting those with mental health needs to access Compass/Pathways services.
• Good oral and written communication skills (including listening skills); the ability to communicate in a patient, considered, and empathetic manner.
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to follow administrative procedures.
• IT skills – able to update spreadsheets, use web-based applications, video-conferencing software, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Preferably have had experience working with people who experience poor mental health.

Time commitment and expenses

• 5 hours per week, during our opening hours of 10am–4pm.  Please indicate your preferred volunteering day(s) on your application
• We request a minimum commitment of 3 months of volunteering after the completion of your induction.   
• We will provide volunteers with an induction, training, and ongoing mentoring to support them in the role.

The role includes the provision of administrative assistance to the CEO. Responsibilities will include arranging meetings, travel, and accommodation and maintaining the schedule of the CEO. They are looking to strengthen their board by appointing a new trustee with finance experience to take them into the next stage of their development, with their current Treasurer having reached the end of their term.

The Safe Space is a local hub for anyone who feels they are nearing crisis point. We are here to listen to what you need and work with you to help. This might be strategies to help you cope in the moment, a range of activities we provide free of charge, resources to take away or connecting you with practical local services. We offer face to face, telephone and video-conference support. As a part of this, we are looking for volunteers to offer peer led support to individuals who may access our service. This includes a variety of tasks, such as devising and facilitating peer led workshops with clients, supporting with 1:1 sessions, and completing administrative tasks.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has lived experience of mental health/social crisis
• Preferably have had experience working with people who experience poor mental health
• Are comfortable with co-producing and facilitating peer led workshops
• Might be willing to take over running the workshops by themselves over time

The Coroners' Courts Support Service (CCSS) is a registered Charity whose trained volunteers give emotional and practical support to bereaved families and other witnesses attending an inquest.

We need volunteers to provide emotional support and practical help to bereaved families, witnesses and others attending Inquests at Coroners' Court. Our volunteers at court also provide help and assistance to the Coroners' Officers, as and when required.

We are looking for reliable, supportive people with excellent communication skills. A mature and calm attitude is needed in order to be able to talk to people during a sometimes bewildering and emotional experience. Volunteers must be willing to undergo a period of observations and shadowing, as well as attend a 3 day training course. A minimum commitment of one day (9:00am - 5:00pm) per fortnight is asked for. Training and mentoring is provided and travel expenses to the court are reimbursed.

New volunteers should possess good communication and listening skills and the ability to empathise with people they support.

Are you a Clinical Supervisor interested in supporting counsellors and therapists?

Burning Nights CRPS Support has a highly skilled counselling and therapy team who provide counselling and psychotherapy to adults and children who have been affected by a debilitating pain condition, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). This team is expanding rapidly and we are now looking for a volunteer Clinical Supervisor to join this team ensuring we can continue the provision of our vital emotional support services to this community. We would ideally like to take on a Clinical Supervisor - one supporting the therapists who deal with adults.

All our Counselling and therapy team help to develop our growing mental health support service for patients, families and carers affected by Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). As a volunteer with the CRPS Counselling & Therapy Service, your skills and experience as a Clinical Supervisor will be providing support to therapists who offer therapy to vulnerable individuals, many of whom are isolated and in need of mental health support.

Depending on your qualifications, skills and experience, you will provide Supervisor support for counsellors or psychotherapists who provide counselling support or specialist services, such as general talking (person centred) therapies, integrative therapists, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for CRPS patients, their loved ones and carers. The service currently offers specialist support to anyone over the age of 5 who is affected by CRPS.

Key Tasks and Objectives

• Facilitate Clinical Supervision one to one and group sessions on a monthly or fortnightly basis (online)

• Administer this supervision from invitation through to record keeping

• Maintain appropriate clinical records of all work and to report, along with any concerns on individuals or their practice to the Chair of Trustees

• Commitment to ongoing supervision of supervision practice at Burning Nights CRPS Support as well as engaging in separate own personal supervision as/if appropriate

• Work flexibly as part of a small team as necessary to provide maximum coverage for supervision, such as in the event of emergencies

• Abide by all Burning Nights CRPS Support policies and procedures

• Adhere to BACP, BABCP (or other appropriate therapies governing body) Ethical Framework

Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

• Psychotherapy/Counselling qualification with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in a similar field

• Qualification in Clinical Supervision - ideally level 7 or above (could also suit experienced counsellors who require a placement during Clinical Supervision placement, or experienced counsellors wishing to gain experience in supervision)

• Accreditation/registration (or working at the level of or towards this qualification) as a Supervisor with BACP/HCPC/BAPT or equivalent

• Significant proven experience of supervising individual counsellors/psychotherapists from a range of training backgrounds 

• Appropriate and proven clinical experience of working with clients with a range of difficulties including complex medical health issues, loss and bereavement. Ideally experience of working with clients living with or affected by chronic pain or chronic conditions

• Willingness to engage in any Burning Nights CRPS Support training

• Understanding of issues regarding confidentiality and management of risk within a counselling service

• Good administrative skills

• Understanding of the voluntary sector

• Commitment to on-going engagement in personal supervision

• Knowledgeable of and committed to equalities’ provision

Desirable:

• Appropriate and proven clinical experience of working with clients living with or affected by chronic pain or chronic conditions

• Being able to supervise therapists who work in therapy such as CBT, ACT, EMDR etc

• Experience of working within a low-cost / free voluntary sector counselling setting

• Assist in managing and organising legal briefings, ensuring all relevant information is captured and disseminated appropriately to facilitate informed decision-making
• Effectively communicate legal findings, updates, and recommendations to the Quilombo UK Directors. Clearly articulate complex legal concepts in a manner accessible to non-legal stakeholders.
• Participate in meetings and discussions to provide timely legal insights.
• Work closely with other team members to ensure legal considerations are integrated into organisational initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with the Directors' Support Team to translate legal actions into tangible outcomes. Monitor progress and provide regular updates on legal initiatives.
• Provide written reports as and when required. To undertake additional duties as required for the role.

Essential:

• A qualified legal professional with a recognized legal qualification and relevant experience.
• Proven experience in legal roles, with a strong background in research, document review, and communication of legal matters.
• Demonstrated commitment to volunteer work and contributing time and expertise to support the goals of Quilombo UK.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal information in a clear and understandable manner.
• Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively within a team, fostering a positive and inclusive working environment.
• Ability to comprehend and act upon briefings, translating them into actionable outcomes that align with the organisation's objectives.

The Professional Development Programme with Quilombo UK runs over a period of 16 weeks, is UNPAID and requires a minimum of 12 hours commitment per week across Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday.

Upon successful application, our HR team will contact you to arrange an interview. Following a successful interview, we'll initiate the onboarding process by sending you the necessary documents. Once your onboarding and identification documents are received and verified, you'll be invited to a 6-hour HR and System Induction. Subsequently, you'll meet with your Head of Department or Assistant Manager for your First Day.

About the role

The Global Communities Sub - Committee is charged with responsibility to keep in constant review the mission and ministry of the Global Communities work across the British Connexion. The Global Communities Sub-Committee will work with relevant Connexional team members in developing new ways of working across the Connexion and advising the missions committee on polices and recommend specific learning points from these Communities that could enrich the wider mission and ministry of the Methodist Church in Britain. The Global Communities Sub- Committee will report to annually to the Missions Committee.

About You

We are looking for an experienced, committed person who has transferable skills, this individual will:

• Be a member in good standing of the Methodist Church in Britain
• Have an awareness of the variety of contexts that exist within the Methodist Church in Great Britain including those from Global Communities 
• Have a working knowledge of the Organisational arrangements of the Methodist Church.
• To contribute to the discussions and decision making at the meetings with other members of the sub-committee as appropriate to enable the group to advise the missions committee on policy in relation to the work of the Global Communities.
• To be able to listen and learn from members of the Global Communities in the Methodist Church in Britain
• To be able to work as part of a team
