Summary of Role:
A key role at the food bank, you will run one shift a week alongside other Coordinators. You will work in close cooperation with volunteers and guests, ensuring that the food service is as smooth as possible, dealing with any incidents that may arise.

About Bounds Green Food Bank:
Open since June 2020, we serve over 1,300 children and adults in the community. The Role:
1. Manage Food Service Volunteers

Manage the Section Leads and Food Service Volunteers, allocating tasks according to each volunteer’s experience and ability.

Make sure volunteers are aware of and follow food bank policies and procedures (e.g. the Kitchen Policy and using the food bank themselves).

Ensure volunteers follow all health and safety precautions, including checking all items are in-date.

Ensure all volunteers sign the register.

Support volunteers, ensure they take breaks, help them deal with any difficult incidents and ensure they alert you to any issues.

Be available to volunteers and responsive to their needs.
2. Manage Guests

Ensure that guests have completed the registration process and are referred to the Advice Team where eligibility to use the food bank has not been confirmed.

Treat all guests equally, welcoming them to the food bank and making sure they are respected and thought about.

Ensure the order of the queue is maintained.

Deal with any issues by speaking directly to the guest, asking them to follow the rules and helping them deal with any difficult incidents.

Ensure no alcohol or drugs are used at the food bank or in the queue.
3. Complete Daily Duties

Prepare for setting up from 9am and complete shift at 1pm (depending on shift time).

Prepare to open the food bank to guests at 1pm and lock up at 5pm (depending on shift time).

Receive deliveries: know what deliveries to anticipate and coordinate volunteers to direct the driver, unload their vehicle and load crates in the hall.

Organise the decanting and repacking of items.

Keep an eye on stocks and make a note of shortages.

Complete additional tasks that may arise e.g. bagging food, getting rid of waste, and updating admin.

Ensure the hall is clean and organised before locking up.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Governance and Compliance Oversight: Ensure that all activities within Barawak adhere to the highest standards of governance and compliance, as set by our trustees and in accordance with relevant regulations and laws. Develop and maintain a comprehensive set of policies and procedures that are the foundation of our operational excellence.
2. Secretariat Functions: Act as the primary point of contact for trustees and advisors, managing communications, preparing meeting agendas, and ensuring the accurate recording of actions and decisions. Your meticulous attention to detail and planning will ensure the smooth running of board meetings and the timely dissemination of information.
3. Performance Reporting: Lead the development and implementation of a robust performance reporting framework. Will you share your counselling or psychotherapy skills as a counsellor or therapist to join an online counselling service for patients and families affected by a chronic pain condition (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome)?
We're looking for 2 qualified counsellors, psychotherapists or psychologists ideally with some experience of working with chronic pain patients or lived experience of chronic illness, who may want to volunteer their skills supporting our adult service users (aged 18 & over) and help us to continue developing a mental health support service.
As a Volunteer Counsellor/Therapist you’ll be providing remote counselling/therapy support services to adults aged 18 and over many of whom are isolated and in need of mental health services. You’ll be providing one-to-one counselling/therapy sessions online via Zoom or by phone. With your recognised counselling qualifications and experience you will be an asset to our small charity and to our services users.
Depending on your qualifications, skills and experience, our volunteer counsellors / therapists provide person centred counselling (general talking counselling) or integrative counselling, or specialist services such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), ACT, CFT and EMDR for CRPS patients, or their families & close relatives.
People will be referred both by health or legal professionals as well as having patients and carers themselves referring into to the service.
In this role you’ll be able to develop your counselling and therapy skills, organisation, communication and team working skills.
Most importantly you’ll be providing essential services that help make sure no one has to face CRPS alone. Be the hope for CRPS.
What the role involves
This role may vary depending on needs, but is likely to include:

Undertake a client assessments, followed by person-centred counselling (via Zoom or phone) to our clients, offering up to 20 sessions for each client plus 4 psychometric assessments

Providing one-to-one counselling sessions to clients aged 18 & over

Update our database with the client’s information, sessional notes and session attendance

Maintain succinct, relevant session notes and store these confidentially and securely in acccordahce with GDPR
- Attending and participating in peer supervision support

We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, including a full induction. You will have a chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us. We can offer you a supervisor as well as expenses for annual insurance and an external supervisor if required.
What you need for this role
Essential
- Be a member (including student membership) of one of the recognised organisations (see below)
- Level 4 Diploma level qualifications as a minimum (unfortunately no students at this time), Degree or Masters in Counselling, Counselling/Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy, Art Therapy, EMDR
- Minimum of 100 hours supervised
- Proof of professional indemnity insurance annually - we may consider paying this as an expense but commitment to the charity is required

The Coroners' Courts Support Service (CCSS) is a registered Charity whose trained volunteers give emotional and practical support to bereaved families and other witnesses attending an inquest.
We need volunteers to provide emotional support and practical help to bereaved families, witnesses and others attending Inquests at Coroners' Court. Our volunteers at court also provide help and assistance to the Coroners' Officers, as and when required.
We are looking for reliable, supportive people with excellent communication skills. A mature and calm attitude is needed in order to be able to talk to people during a sometimes bewildering and emotional experience. Prison-based volunteers are the backbone of Fine Cell Work (FCW). Supported by the Fine Cell Work programmes team and by other staff at the FCW office, they teach and administer FCW stitching groups in prisons.
Prison volunteers work in teams to organise classes and teach our stitchers, as well as providing groups information to the prison and to the FCW office. The precise mix of skills will vary from prison to prison.
Volunteering in prison for Fine Cell Work requires ideally a good level of needlework skill (or a willingness to learn), some teaching experience and/or experience of working with socially-excluded groups. Volunteers must be patient and non-judgemental in order to work effectively. As a prison volunteer you will:

What is LBA looking for?
The London Basketball Association is pleased to announce that an opportunity has arisen for a Board of Trustees Chairperson to join our intensely committed organisation.
The Board of Trustees Chairperson is a pivotal role within the organisation, tasked with holding the Board and Executive Team to account, to ensure the Charity hits its mission and longer term strategic visions. Ensure that the Board fulfils its duties to ensure sound financial health of the charity, with systems in place to ensure financial accountability.

Regularly review, collectively, ‘major’ risks and associated opportunities, and ensure systems are in place to take advantage of opportunities, and manage and mitigate the risks.

Ensure the Board operates within its charitable objectives, and provides a clear strategic direction.

Act as an ambassador for the cause and the charity and where necessary act as a spokesperson for the organisation.
Governance

Appraise the performance of the Trustees and the Board on an annual basis.

Ensure that the Board of Trustees is regularly refreshed and incorporates the right balance of skills, knowledge and experience needed to govern and lead the charity effectively.

Develop the knowledge and capability of the Board of Trustees.

Ensure that the governance arrangements are working in the most effective way.

Encourage positive change and where appropriate, address and resolve any conflicts within the Board.

Work within any and all agreed LBA policies.
Effectiveness

Chair meetings of the Board of Trustees effectively and efficiently, bringing impartiality and objectivity to the decision making process.

Ensure that Trustees are fully engaged and that decisions are taken in the best, long-term interests of the LBA and that the Board takes collective ownership.

Work closely with the CEO to give direction to Board policy-making and to ensure that meetings are well planned, meaningful and reflect the responsibilities of trustees.

Facilitate change and address any potential external conflicts of interest.

Establish and build a strong, effective and a constructive working relationship with the CEO, ensuring they are held to account for achieving agreed strategic objectives.

Liaise with the CEO to maintain an overview of the Charity’s affairs, providing support as necessary.

Conduct an annual appraisal and remuneration review for the CEO in consultation with other Trustees.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Knowledge

Broad knowledge and understanding of the voluntary sector, in particular within the Sports sector, and current issues affecting it.

Strong understanding of funding, fundraising strategies and grant management.

Financial management expertise and a broad understanding of charity finance issues.

Good understanding of charity governance issues.
Skills

A strong and visible passion for basketball (or other sports) and commitment to the LBA, its strategic objectives and, ultimately, its cause.

Exhibit strong interpersonal and relationship building abilities and be comfortable in an ambassadorial role.

Strong tact and diplomacy skills, accompanied with the ability to listen and engage effectively.

Ability to commit time to conduct the role well, including travel and attending events out of office hours.
Experience

Experience of charity governance and working with or as part of a Board of Trustees

Experience of operating at a senior strategic leadership level within a charitable organisation.

What you’ll be doing

Internship
· Develop and maintain effective working relationships with interns.
· Supervises interns and helps to refine internship goals.
· Assess interns progress, professional behaviour and perform evaluations.
· Assist interns in integrating knowledge and theory.
· After the internship, be the point of contact for references, and provide accreditation certificate
· Actively seek, research, and create new brand opportunities.
CPD
· Coordinate online learning and webinars; Investigate possible program enhancements.
· Lead and ensure that the CPD workplan implementation.
· Ensure the CPD workplan is reviewed regularly.
· Ensure timely monitoring and evaluation of the overall CPD programme as well as its different components as per agreed standards and quality.
