Job description

About the role:

This role involves making sure we deliver a specialist quality service to clients who are eligible for the pensions guidance service across the South West area. This covers Bournemouth, Taunton, and their surrounding areas, including Isle of Wight and Devon and Cornwall (including Isles of Scilly).

You will be responsible for ensuring the partnership runs well and that all appointments are available and filled. You will line manage the Guider Specialists and Administrators on the project, ensuring they receive a people-focused and compassionate experience at work.

The partnership is Citizens Advice Plymouth, Cornwall, Taunton and Bournemouth.

We anticipate this role to start in October 2024, with interviews the week commencing 9th September 2024.

Who we are looking for:

You will be an experienced line manager who thrives on working with a diverse range of people and be open-minded, approachable, and non-judgmental. You will take an empathetic and compassionate approach to your team, while also being able to challenge effectively to provide the best possible service for our clients. You’ll have a good understanding of mental health, how this affects people, and how you can support people experiencing poor mental health effectively. You will have good critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify and unpick issues.

You will have the ability to manage and support others during times of crisis, be resilient and able to manage difficult and emotional conversations well. Good communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as is the ability to effectively communicate with a non-judgmental approach.

You will be able to deliver Pension Wise Guider appointments – providing face to face pension and retirement information and guidance to members of the public, in line with the defined Pension Wise service, and help clients to understand the full implication of their pension choices.

You will be able to competently use a range of Office 365 programmes and pull accurate reports. You will have good prioritisation and time management skills to be able to work efficiently as part of a team to reach as many clients as possible as quickly as possible.

We value diversity, promote equality and challenge discrimination.  We encourage and welcome applications from suitably skilled candidates from all backgrounds.  We particularly welcome applications from candidates who are disabled, or people from Black, Asian and other racially minoritised backgrounds, as these people are currently underrepresented at Citizens Advice Plymouth. We also actively welcome applications from LGBTQ+ candidates.

Work base: This role will have a hybrid contract, with a minimum of 5 days a month in the office at Cobourg House, 32 Mayflower Street, Plymouth. You will be expected to be able to attend the office at short notice if required. If you are not based in the Plymouth area, but would like to be considered for this role, please contact us to discuss possible options with regards to the hybrid contract.

Hours: The role is 22.5 hours a week (9-5 Monday-Wednesday) on a permanent basis. We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements with prospective applicants.

Start Date: We anticipate this role to start in October 2024, with interviews the week commencing 9th September 2024.

Closing Date: 4th September 2024 at 9:00am
