Oaklands & St Kilda is a pair of 6 unit supported accommodation mental health rehab services working with young people between the ages of 18-25 who may have experienced a mental health related hospital admission to gain and develop skills for future independent living. The service will support individuals transitioning from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to Adult services.

The service forms part of a pair of services supporting up to 12 individuals at any one time across the sites, providing a welcoming and supportive environment for young people across London on a spot purchase basis.

Support workers will manage a number of young people to help them to identify, plan and achieve their goals, develop relationships meaningful to them and achieve greater independence by providing a flexible and individually tailored support package.

This is a Waking Night role working to support young people throughout the night at the service.

This role will consist of 3 weekly shifts from 22:00 to 08:00

What you'll do:

Building supportive, trusting relationships with young people and creating a positive atmosphere
Working proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities
Conducting key work sessions as required, that are innovative and engaging in order to achieve Support Plan goals
Co-producing ongoing assessment and management of risks in collaboration with young people with an attitude of 'positive risk taking'
Providing support with daily living activities, including practical assistance to support young people s to independent living e.g. budgeting, cooking, establishing a night time routine
Supporting young people to maintain a healthy environment and where appropriate assisting them to clean their accommodation and maintain good personal hygiene
Assisting in the recording and reporting of customer incidents
Managing referrals, completing assessments and obtaining and maintaining all relevant paperwork
Developing productive relationships with partner organisations to improve service outcomes
Adhering to lone working protocols and maintaining high levels of awareness in relation to the health and safety of yourself and colleagues
Involving young people in the design, development and delivery of the service

The main duties of the role

To deliver the IntoUniversity programme effectively to children and young people in different settings, including schools-based workshops, Academic Support sessions and educational visits. This includes positive behaviour management and adherence to the IntoUniversity safeguarding policy.

• To assist with the organisation and delivery of the Academic Support, FOCUS and Mentoring Programmes.

Permanent, part-time

Working hours

• 15 or 16 hours a week (please note this will depend on the centre you are offered) local school term-times only (excluding public holidays) • EITHER 16 hours per week across four afternoons: Monday and Thursday 14:00-18:00 and Tuesday and Wednesday 13:30-17:30. • OR 15 hours per week made up of 2 days (between Monday and Thursday of 7.5 hours each. The hours would be 9:30am - 6:00pm if you were employed on a Monday or Thursday and 9.00am - 5:30pm if you are employed on a Tuesday or a Wednesday. 

Days of employment (if term time only)

Please note: The following will vary if you are offered a 15 hour per week contract. Based on working 16 hours per week, you will be employed 188 days (of 4 hours each) per year, made up as follows: • 164 days of work (inclusive of additional days) • 18 days of paid annual leave (to be taken outside of local school term times and on any bank holidays occurring during term time). Non-working time during school holidays which is in excess of your holiday entitlement shall be unpaid. 

Additional 32 hours (or 8 days of 4 hours each)

These will be agreed between you and your line-manager, and may include days during school holidays. They will typically include three whole team meetings, one delivery team meeting and the annual staff conference. These will be pro-rated based on when you join in the academic year.

Starting salary is £27,400 (pro-rata)

Pro-rated salary is £10,558 per annum for 16 hours per week

Reporting to AFRIL’s Casework and Advocacy Manager, this new post will increase our casework team from 3 FTE to 3.6 FTE. We have an immigration partnership with Southwark Law Centre and are working towards OISC registration within the year. Job Description

OVERVIEW

The Crossborder Forum (CBF) is a network of over 50 civil society organisations and activists working in the Belgium-France-UK cross-border space for migrant justice. The Crossborder Forum was set up in late 2020 in response to bilateral talks and agreements by governments on both sides of the Channel, to provide civil society with the space and infrastructure for transnational dialogue and solidarity. The Crossborder Forum is an independent project, currently hosted by the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI) – a leading migrants’ rights charity based in London. The Advisory Committee, composed of individual and organisational members of the CBF from across the three countries, provides strategic advice and support for the Manager.

The aims of the Crossborder Forum are:

1. To provide a space for civil society organisations concerned with the UK-France-Belgium border, for exchanging information and expertise of ongoing cross-border migration and asylum issues.
2. To construct a shared analysis of cross-border policies and their impact, building on work already done by actors in the respective countries.
3. To facilitate cross-border collaboration on advocacy and policy work relating to bilateral issues between UK-France and UK-Belgium and reinforce existing projects by combining forces (e.g. on juxtaposed border controls, post-Brexit bilateral agreements, funding accords, safer routes for people who wish to seek asylum in the UK, etc).
4. To meaningfully engage with and enable the participation of experts-by-experience (lived experience of cross-border migration issues, the shared border, and immigration systems) in the CBF.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Crossborder Forum is seeking an enthusiastic, organised, and self-driven Manager to lead the coordination of our growing transnational and multicultural network and deliver the CBF’s work according to the aims and activity plan developed by CBF members. 

It is an exciting time to join the Forum. As well as leading on organising CBF activities, the Manager will have the opportunity to develop the Forum’s governance processes and implement its new Lived Experience Strategy. Alongside managing the day-to-day operations and external and internal communications of the Forum, the Manager leads the budget management and fundraising work of the CBF, supported by the Advisory Committee and JCWI. The Manager is line-managed by JCWI as part of JCWI’s Advocacy Team, supported by the CBF Advisory Committee, and accountable to the CBF membership. The Manager will have significant independence and autonomy in how they organise their time and plan the CBF’s work on a day-to-day basis.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Network development and management

●        Manage day-to-day bilingual (English and French) internal communications with and between CBF members to facilitate joint work and collective decision making 

●        Build and maintain relationships with existing and new CBF members

●        Maintain momentum and energy in the network and amongst members who have varying capacity to engage with the CBF

●        Organise and facilitate online CBF meetings every two months, with effective follow-up through minutes and action points in English and French

●        Oversee and lead the implementation of agreed project activities e.g. learning sessions, joint actions and statements, production of resources

●        Support the work of member-led thematic working groups of the CBF

●        Organise the CBF’s first in-person conference, in collaboration with CBF members

●        Represent the CBF to external stakeholders, including sector partners and funders Knowledge and information sharing

●        Remain up to date on field, policy, and legislative developments relating to migration and borders in Belgium, France and the UK

●        Compile and share monthly news digests with news, resources, and reports on relevant developments in the three countries

●        Identify and respond to gaps in knowledge and training within the network, in relation to field, policy and legislative developments in the three countries

●        Update and maintain the CBF website and social media accounts Strategy and governance development and implementation

●        Facilitate the development of an overall strategy for the Crossborder Forum in collaboration with CBF members and the Advisory Committee, building on the four overarching aims of the CBF, the lived experience strategy, and funder commitments

●        Oversee the implementation of the overall strategy and lived experience strategy 

●        Identify areas for governance and internal policy development and lead on co-developing these with the CBF’s members and Advisory Committee Budget management and financial sustainability With support from the Advisory Committee and JCWI (in line with hosting agreement):

●        Prepare funder reports to demonstrate achievement of grant requirements

●        Draft grant applications and identify new sources of funding to ensure financial sustainability of the CBF

●        Manage and oversee the CBF budget, ensuring it is monitored and up to date, with spending in-line with agreed budget lines

Person Specification

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 Required Experience

●        Working or volunteering in the migration sector in Belgium, France or the UK

●        Minimum two years’ experience of project or programme management 

●        Demonstrable experience in building effective professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, e.g. civil society organisations, international NGOs, grassroots organisations and collectives, funders, academic researchers, consultants/freelancers

●        Demonstrable experience in events planning for a diverse range of audiences 

●        Strong experience in facilitation, coordinating networks, coalition-building and/or collective initiatives

●        Experience of budget management and narrative and financial funding reporting

Required skills

●        Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and a strong ability to build positive working relationships across different cultural, political, and national contexts, and remotely

●        Strong knowledge of the migration political context and civil society landscape in one of the three countries and awareness of issues relating to the UK-France-Belgium border

●        Fluency in English and French – written and spoken

In your role as a Community Keyworker, you will be working with women involved in the Criminal Justice System; those on Probation in the Community and those women being released from Prison as part of their Post Sentence Supervision; providing some in-reach and ‘Through the Gate’ support. You will be working in a team of Community Keyworkers in your region. Each Keyworker will provide holistic one to one community support to women with a variety of needs.

The Minerva London service provides holistic, trauma-informed support for women in touch with the Criminal Justice System. We do this through offering dedicated one to one support, safer women’s centre spaces and specialist interventions and partnerships.

To be successful as the Community Key Worker you will need the below experience and skills.

You will be working in a supportive, friendly, and welcoming team whilst having oversight of a caseload of women, who may be under the supervision of the National Probation Service or in custody, enhancing the offer of holistic support and advocacy services available to them throughout their journey.

Building relationships with other statutory and non-statutory agencies in local communities is vital to build referral pathways and provide a whole system approach to supporting individuals.

To carry out this work you will meet women in the community in your designated borough and co-locate with other agencies including the National Probation Service, as well as regularly attending Advance’s North London vibrant Women’s Centre/office space.

You will be a creative self-starter who will support the service and look for innovative solutions to support clients with complex needs. You are confident professional relationship builder and has good awareness of Safeguarding procedures. Strong Administration skills and understanding of compliant behaviours also experience of supporting. With good knowledge of the criminal justice system and awareness of other support provisions.

Youth Worker (Women's Worker) – 9 Month Maternity Cover
We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate team player to join our growing team as a full-time Youth Worker (Women’s Worker) on a fixed term 9-month maternity cover contract. 
In this role, you will work within the Youth Work Team to deliver our frontline drop-in service and support our weekly and monthly activities to all young people experiencing homelessness.
You’ll specialise in sharing knowledge and expertise in gender-informed work, leading the delivery of our weekly Women and Non-Binary space, facilitating group sessions and supporting a caselist of young women experiencing multiple and complex needs.
Ideally you should be experienced in working with young people aged 18-25 and/or have demonstrable experience working directly with women (of any age). You will understand gender informed practice and have experience or transferable skills working with those who are survivors of domestic violence and other gender-based violence. You will also be committed to the safeguarding of all young people and delivering an inclusive and trauma-informed service.
You should be experienced designing, planning and facilitating a range of activities, able to work dynamically in a fast-paced day centre environment and be skilled in engaging a diverse range of young people in positive activities.

This is a dynamic service, providing bespoke interventions to a small group of six to eight Looked After Children aged 16-21 years, to enable them to live in safety and stability, and have a place to call home.

The Specialist Support Worker will be responsible for delivering direct support to a small group of young people with complex needs. The young people will live in the community and the HFFY service will provide 24/7 support to ensure their safety, promote their stability, and build resilience to enable them to manage their tenancy.

Essential Criteria

• Experience of supporting Looked After Children or homeless and/or vulnerable adults to identify personal goals and meet person-centered targets while working through the process of change
• Experience of working within a fast moving and challenging working environment in the areas of mental health, care for young people, alcohol and drug use, independent living support
• Experience of using a high level or communication skills, both verbally and in writing, using Microsoft Office applications
• Full current driving licence or, if a disability prevents driving, an alternative means of transport to enable the duties of the post to be carried out in full.
• NISCC registered (or willing to become registered if appointed) and willing to be subject to Access NI checks. (Successful applicants must commence NISCC registration process prior to employment)​​​​​​​
