We are seeking a Carers Support and Information Officer to provide carers with information on their rights, a friendly listening ear and the opportunity to meet other carers in similar situations through coffee mornings and online workshops. 

This post would suit someone who enjoys working with people, is a good listener and communicator and who is looking to develop their knowledge of carers rights, statutory services and welfare benefits. 

This post is client facing and will be based at our office in Dalston, Hackney which we share with 6 other local charities.

We seek a motivated, enthusiastic person who enjoys working with teams and with people generally and who is passionate about delivering the highest quality information to unpaid carers. A second language is desirable but not essential.

What you'll do:

About the role:

This role is based at our Gloucester office and will require travel within the Gloucestershire area. As a CYP Caseworker you will:

• Effectively manage a caseload of self-referrals or referred service users, delivering excellent services which support the commissioners and their service goals to victims.
• Ensure each victim receives an individually appropriate tailored support and information service that fully meets their needs, keeping complex needs central to all processes and decisions
• Undertake risk and needs assessments to address the specific needs of the client in line with VS operating procedures. To follow relevant safeguarding policies and procedures, working with safeguarding leads and other agencies to ensure an integrated approach to address any safeguarding concerns.
• Provide information and advocacy to enable service users to navigate and understand the criminal justice process and ensure their rights are upheld in accordance with the Victims Code of Practice this could include criminal, legal and if relevant, civil remedies to service users.

You will need:

• Understanding of the issues for children and young people who experience disadvantage or crime
• Understanding of confidentiality and safe working practices, in accordance with safeguarding and data protection legislation
• Proven track record of working with children or young people OR proven track record of working with people experiencing domestic abuse
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt style and approach to meet the needs of a specific audience

About the role:

As an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA), you will provide ongoing continuity, advocacy and impartial advice and information to all survivors accessing our service. Whilst you will be supporting all clients this role also requires the ISVA to focus on supporting clients with a wide range of disabilities, both physical and hidden.
Being an experienced ISVA, you will conduct risk assessments and assess the specific needs of people who have suffered sexual violence. Your willbe able to to develop individual service plans that address these risks and needs. You will have a proven track record of working with high and complex cases and have demonstrated resilience in your professional life, enabling you to work effectively under pressure. You will have extensive experience working with vulnerable clients and possess the skills to maintain professional boundaries working alongside them.
You will also be adept at working in a trauma-informed manner, acknowledging that trauma can impact victims in different ways, and offering support with this as a priority. As an advocate for sexual violence survivors/victims, you will work to promote their confidence, resilience, and empowerment both within and outside of the criminal justice system.
You will provide non-therapeutic support to victims/survivors.
You will be required to attend relevant meetings and will provide regular reports to your line manager and also undertake talks and presentations to local groups and agencies on the work of Victim Support. You will be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with people from all areas of the community and be able to assist with the monitoring, evaluation and administration of written statistical reports on the project management for our external funders.
You will offer guidance and support to clients in navigating the criminal justice process while ensuring their rights are protected in accordance with the Victims Code of Practice. You will provide victims with access to resources and support to help them through the criminal justice process.

Adventure Play and Youth Worker

Following an internal promotion we are recruiting an Adventure Play & Youth Worker at Manchester Young Lives, to provide open access and targeted play and youth work activities. Our after-school adventure play provision is Ofsted registered and provides activities for 6-13 year olds. Our youth provision engages with young people aged 11-16 after school and during the evenings.

Our work enables often disadvantaged children and young people the opportunity to learn, develop and connect with their communities, build safe and supportive relationships with committed workers, and let off steam on our adventure playgrounds.

Manchester Young Lives is a 54-year-old children and young people’s charity that grew out of the inner city adventure play movement. The post holder will be fully involved in all aspects of the day-to-day management of their designated service, including line managing the relevant front-line staff.
