What You'll Be Doing

You will be joining the Team, a warm friendly and welcoming group, to provide a high-quality service to clients in Walton on Thames, Molesey, Hersham, Thames Ditton, Hinchley Wood and Cobham. They currently support 65 clients with a range of needs. Their clients include individuals who are homeless, some with mental health issues, those in recovery from substance misuse, and young people.

A little more about your day as a Housing & Support Officer:

- Act as a keyworker to clients, helping them achieve their goals and live independently.
- Family mediation and support, bringing families back together.
- Work with a community of professionals to support the right outcomes.
- Problem solving together and debriefs sharing experiences and learning as a team.
- Support clients with repair issues and repayment agreements for rent arrears.
- Carry out room inspections, health and safety checks and make rooms homely for new residents.

Improving the safety and life opportunities of the people who use their services and supporting them in their recovery. They support the people they work with to overcome the experiences they have had, empowering them to build up the skills and resources they need to take control of their own lives, access a tenancy of their own and maintain a quality of life in the long term.

We are currently recruiting for 3 Evening / Night Assistant Domestic Abuse Support Workers to join the team on a permanent basis following the successful acquisition of a new Refuge service in Rochdale. This is part time role, working 16.33 hours per week on a 3-week rolling rota.

The role

• To accept new referrals and complete move in procedures for new clients, including supporting flat turnarounds, cleaning, and re-stock to ensure there is no delay in accommodation any referral.
• Ensure the upkeep and security of the building and take responsibility for any cash and equipment.
• Maintaining an understanding and awareness of and adhering to all support plans and risk assessments and to update the Domestic Abuse Support Worker (DASW) of changes to risk or incidents.
• To provide feedback to the DASW regarding tenant's SMART plans and aims achieved, recorded documentation on client database.
• To complete risk assessments for activities both 1-1 and group work, incorporating safety planning, reviewing on a regular basis.
• To work with clients and other staff to devise an annual plan for client involvement, to actively engage the individuals and families within the Rochdale DA safe accommodation service, promoting lived experience involvement in service delivery and improvement.
• Facilitate evening group work and promote, monitor and evaluate involvement sessions in conjunction with the people using services.
• To work in-line with the project's budget, adhering to financial policies and procedures.
• To monitor the security and safety of the premises on an ongoing basis, including CCTV, front door entry system and alarm system.
• To be responsible and accountable for the efficient recording, storing and maintaining of client records including contact notes, correspondence, incident reporting, handovers, risk updates and outcomes achieved.
• Record and manage any anti-social behaviour or neighbour nuisance and respond appropriately according to escalation procedure.
• Address any instances of non-engagement or perceived obstacles to support via a trauma informed approach.
• To actively promote the service and the organisation.
• To ensure GDPR, confidentiality and professional boundaries are upheld in all aspects of daily practice.

The candidate

• Relevant qualification in Domestic Abuse / IDVA / ISVA or equivalent diploma / degree / NVQ 3 or equivalent work level experience and the willingness to achieve a level 3 qualification.
• An extensive understanding of individuals and families who have or are experiencing domestic abuse.
• Knowledge of working as part of a team, working on own initiative and managing time effectively.
• Ability and knowledge of planning, promoting, or delivering group work sessions with evaluation.
• Knowledge of providing support on agreed outcomes of assessment support plans.
• Knowledge of assessing and implementing risk assessments, including DASH Ric.
• Knowledge of the impact of multiple disadvantages, complex support needs and homelessness.
• Knowledge of welfare benefits and relative legislation.
• Knowledge of health and safety and lone working.

About the charity: Cavernomas look like raspberries and are found in the brain and spinal cord.  They're formed of abnormal blood vessels with thin leaky walls, which can bleed at any age without warning.  1 in 625 people are thought to have a cavernoma, and whilst most people won't experience symptoms 1 in 2,700 do.  Symptoms can include haemorrhages, seizures and other neurological problems.  Treatment involves 'wait and see', neurosurgery or stereotactic radiosurgery; with no medications currently available.

Cavernoma Alliance UK (CAUK) is a member-led organisation, run by and for those impacted by cavernoma with more information available on our website. We work from a model of empowerment, recognising the value of our members’ lived experience to provide mutual support, improve standards of care and drive research into finding a cure.

Since the charity was founded in 2005 it has grown from a volunteer-led organisation based in Dorchester to a UK wide registered charity that now has 2 part-time permanent staff, looking to increase to 4 Part-time staff (all home-based), 50+ volunteers, and 4,000+ members. Our support services include a helpline, buddying, counselling, online support groups, meet-ups, webinars, lectures, newsletter, leaflets, website and social media. 

About the roles: The Member Support Assistant is responsible for assisting our Volunteer Manager with administration relating to the support of the charity’s 4,000 members and volunteers.  This includes offering a professional service to members of CAUK, typically via phone, email, online, chat, or on occasion in person. The role involves supporting the membership and volunteering processes, ensuring all admin is accurate and up to date.  Over time the post-holder will be expected to build a good working knowledge of members and volunteers.  They will also be expected to develop strong communication skills, including active listening, alongside the ability to multitask, manage time and prioritise.

The Events and Office Assistant is responsible for assisting the Charity Manager with the administration of events alongside some general office activities for the charity.  This includes assisting with the organisation of the virtual Annual Conference, virtual Monthly Information Webinars, in-person Annual Snowdon Climb for Cavernoma, online Cavernoma Awareness Month activities, in-person Autumn Lecture, virtual Secret Santa, attendance by volunteers at external conferences, and any other events organised by CAUK.  As and when time permits in between events the post-holder will also assist with some general office activities, including posting t-shirts/fundraising packs to fundraisers and arranging Zoom meetings.

The Hepatitis C Trust has developed projects nationally whereby peers use their lived experience of injecting drug use and hepatitis C, to provide education and training to service users and staff in drug and alcohol, hostel and homeless services, increasing hepatitis C awareness, access to testing and referral to treatment, for people living with hepatitis C.

Children & Young People’s Residential Practitioners

The setting is an all-female Children’s Home for 13-to-17-year-olds. 

Ideal candidates will join a strong team of Practitioners who put love and kindness into everything they do.

We are passionate about learning and development and committed to providing an outstanding experience for all staff. After completing your probation, we’ll enrol you on a Diploma programme and give you the time, support and incentives to succeed.

Practitioners typically work at least two 12-hr shifts pw, one 8hr shift, and attend team meetings, training, and group thinking space on Fridays from 9.30am to 12.30pm. The total number of working hours is 36 hrs pw. 4hrs per week are allocated to self-study to support the successful completion of your probation and, once enrolled, the Children and Young People’s Practitioner Diploma (Level 4).

Victim Support is the leading charity in England and Wales that supports people affected by crime and traumatic incidents. We provide personalised support to help people manage after crime and feel safer through a combination of dedicated specialist services as well as on-line support. In order to achieve our vision we need a highly capable Director of Finance to build and improve on our high-performing finance function and to drive forward operational excellence.

Reporting directly into the CEO, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our financial strategy, long-term financial planning, and developing commercial strategies to maximise income and operating contribution. You will also have responsibility of cash management, risk management and governance. You will be the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) for the organisation and will lead on Property and Procurement.

This is a varied and exciting role which will provide you with the opportunity of leading a well-established team of professionals, reporting on the financial performance of the organisation together with providing analysis, advice and support to facilitate decision making to deliver sound financial management.

You will be a qualified accountant, and will need to demonstrate:

· Proven experience in a leadership role;

· Experience at Board level and ability to work in collaboration with Trustees and colleagues;

· Understanding and experience of strategic risk management, finance audit and internal controls

Advance has partnered with Catch 22 to deliver services to young victims of crime in London. In recognition of the distinct challenges facing young women and girls (YWG), Advance will deliver a dedicated service to young women and girls (aged 13 to 18) who have been a victim or witness of crime. This is an exciting time to join Advance as we embark on our journey to reach even more young women and girls in need of support using best practice youth, gender, trauma-informed and holistic approaches.

The YWG Victim Service will provide support to YWG across all London boroughs in our safe, YWG-only spaces and in the community. The YWG Victim Service offers specialist support designed to enable YWG to escape harm and to thrive in their lives and aspirations. The YWG Victim Service achieves this by supporting YWG to build confidence, self-esteem and resilience, manage their health and wellbeing and access and engage with other support services.

The Service Manager will lead and manage Advance’s YWG Victim Service, delivering effective management of a team of frontline Advocates, as well as collaborating with Catch 22 to ensure the Advance team and its service delivery are embedded in the wider CYP Victims Services delivered by Catch 22.

About You:

You will have experience of managing frontline staff, supporting them to follow service delivery processes and procedures to ensure effective and safe service delivery to achieve positive outcomes for young women and girls accessing the Victims and Witnesses service. You will have excellent time management skills to ensure service outcomes are monitored and reported on in a timely and effective manner. You will also have excellent communication skills that will allow you to build good working relationships with your team, the wider organisation and external delivery partners. You will be able to reflect and adapt to manage change and enhance working practices, as well as supporting your team through change. You will have an enthusiastic attitude and instil this within your day to day work and interactions with your colleagues and external stakeholders.

Overall purpose

Your primary responsibility will be to lead Breaking Barriers’ employment programme in Birmingham and the West Midlands, and support the Senior Employment Services Manager and Director of Services in ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency in the support we provide to clients.  

Working closely with the Senior Employment Services Manager, you will take ownership of delivery within this region and lead on the delivery of the contract, including maintaining effective external stakeholder relationships and providing accurate and timely reporting. You will line manage and support a team of Employment Advisers (“Advisers”), enabling them to provide high-quality support to clients and coordinate the day-to-day operational activity which keeps our programmes running.

You are a highly organised and effective worker who knows when to adopt a creative approach and when to follow the established process. You will have an empathetic manner, be willing to go the extra mile to support clients and be proactive in looking for ways to improve our service. Lived experience would be helpful but is not essential.  

In addition to exceptional people skills, you will be a strong communicator and possess meticulous attention to detail. You will be confident working autonomously, helped by excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise and cope with interruptions.

You should have at a demonstrable track record of transferrable work experience in coordinating service delivery, projects or programmes, or another relevant field. Equally important is a demonstrable commitment to working with marginalised populations who face barriers to employment, particularly refugees. A strong interest in employability support and experience delivering employment programmes or careers advice would be a strong advantage.

We are seeking additional experienced Associate Independent Investigating Officers (IO) for Complaints, to increase our capacity to respond to referrals from Local Authorities to provide an independent element to the formal Stage 2 investigations under the Children Act 1989.

The IO will lead investigations, and will give the complainant (who may be a child, young person or adult) the opportunity to express their view, ensure the child or young person’s rights and best interests are at the centre of the investigation and that the investigation/review process is open and transparent. They write a report on the investigation/review, which is submitted to the referring agency.

The Job Description document sets out the expectations for an Associate Independent Person for Complaints (IPC) who is approved by Coram Voice. IPCs are independent, freelance and responsible for their own work. Nevertheless, IPCs are accountable to the organisation for their professional standards and are expected to comply with Coram Voice Code of Ethics and Practice Guidelines.

Please Note: the nature of associate work means that we cannot guarantee a regular amount of work, and complaints will be allocated dependent on the associate’s availability, location and the needs and demands of the individual case.
