Location: Runway East, 24-28 Bloomsbury Way, London. WC1A 2SN. We offer flexible and hybrid working, but office-based work will be required on a regular basis. 

Salary: £48,000 per annum

Main Purpose of Role

The Senior People and Culture Manager is a key member of the Charity’s management team. They will have responsibility for designing, constructing and implementing a People and Culture strategy to create a transparent, consistent and agile process for the entire employee journey. They will play a pivotal role in fostering a thriving, healthy and positive organisational culture to ensure our staff feel valued, engaged, and well equipped to deliver the highest standards of work. This role provides high-level operational delivery of our People function to build an organisational infrastructure that delivers against the strategic objectives of the organisation. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

• People Strategy: Work alongside the Chief of Staff to develop and implement a comprehensive people strategy that aligns with our mission and values and promotes equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI). 
• Talent Acquisition: Oversee the recruitment process to identify innovative solutions to improve the efficiency of our hiring to attract and retain talented individuals who align with the Charity's core values.
• Learning and Development: Implement learning and development programmes to ensure all staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively whilst promoting career advancement opportunities within the charity.
• Performance Management: Manage the performance review process, providing guidance to managers on performance improvement strategies and identifying opportunities for development. 
• Policy Development: Develop and update HR policies and procedures in line with best practice and employment law. 
•  Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted advisor to staff and management, addressing concerns and resolving conflicts at work, including grievance, capability, and disciplinary matters.
• Culture Enhancement: Collaborate with leadership to reinforce organisational culture and values, driving initiatives that promote EDI.
• HR Administration and Budget management: Oversee all HR administration, including contracts, leave management, payroll and pensions.

Person Specification 

Experience and Knowledge 

• A deep understanding of HR practices and principles.
• CIPD qualified (Level 5) or working towards a qualification. Proven experience in a similar HR generalist role, preferably within the charity sector.
• Experience of implementing a People and Culture strategy and monitoring and evaluating its success using qualitative and quantitative data.
• Understanding of the HR needs of a small/medium charity.
• Experience in implementing EDI principles and embedding them through policies and organisational practices. 
• Familiarity with employment law.
• Experience developing, planning and executing staff events and training sessions. 
• Experience of managing a budget, interpreting operational financial data and preparing relevant management reports.

About the Role

The Finance & Administration Assistant is a newly created role that will provide various parts of the organisation with administrative support, as well as some receptionist duties. This dynamic role will sit within the Finance team and report to the Director of Finance, however it will directly support the areas of Administration, Finance, Fundraising, and three different Service Delivery functions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Administrative tasks

• Manage external communications through post, telephone and email, ensuring information is redirected to the relevant person to be dealt with efficiently and effectively.
• Support service/department managers with necessary purchasing.
•  Keep up to date record of monthly invoicing information for services and liaise between the Senior Finance Officer and the Service Managers to ensure this system is running efficiently and effectively.

Finance related tasks

•  Manage Petty Cash transactions on site, ensuring accurate and up to date records are kept at all times, and perform the bank runs.
• Collect and check monthly debit card and credit card reports with all necessary Purchase Invoices and PO’s from the card holders.
•  Assist the Finance Officer in processing expenditure: checking Purchase Invoices against PO’s, ensuring that all authorisations are in place, and posting expenditure on the QuickBooks database.
• Assist the Senior Finance Officer in sending out statements to overdue Debtors from QuickBooks.

Fundraising related tasks

• Process donation payments received via cheque, cash or PayPal and similar platforms onto the Beacon database.
•  Assist the Fundraising Manager in keeping the Beacon database up to date with donations/grants received, gift aid eligibility and forms, and grant contracts.
• Instigate periodic thank-you letters to donors.

Job purpose:

As a key member of Saferworld's senior leadership team, the Director of Finance and Operations will be instrumental in helping to shape the organisation's strategic direction. Person specification

Knowledge, qualifications and experience

• Accountancy qualifications, preferably CIMA, ACA and ACCA, and a clear understanding of Charity Fund accounting (SORP 2008 and the Charities Act 2003)
• Extensive experience in financial management and interdepartmental budgeting in a senior leadership position in an international organisation (preferable and international charity/non-for-profit).
• In-depth understanding of the complexity of overseeing and managing finances in an international context, particularly in contexts of conflict and/or war, including complexities of banking, tax, cash-flow management, exchange rate fluctuations and impact on budgets and forecasts, financial reporting, legal compliance, and transferring of funds to civil society and community-based organisation within different contexts, including conflict-affected areas.
• Senior leadership experience within the charity/not-for-profit sector and an understanding of costing funding bids and ensuring financial reporting systems meet funder requirements
• Experience of engaging and working with diverse funding streams including institutional donors, commercial contracts and Trust and Foundations and multiple currencies and geographic jurisdictions,
• Experience of working with a business partnering approach to achieve with others joint goals.
• An understanding and experience of project management delivery across an organisation, including an ability and willingness to undertake 'hands-on' tasks, such as preparing budgets, cash flows and other financial planning, management and control processes if required
• Operational experience in overseeing and supporting IT systems, especially in financial systems development – experience with the SUN system is especially desirable
• Experience working with a Board of Trustees and other governance levels of an organisation
• A track record in proven line and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others to deliver shared results
• Experience in communicating effectively across cultures and with diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing

Emmaus Oxford is looking for a Charity retail Deputy Store Manager to join our retail management team running our large charity superstore in Cowley Oxford. Emmaus provides housing support and meaning occupation in our social enterprise to up to 28 ex-homeless men and women [known in Emmaus as Companions].  As well as providing retail management the role also involves coaching and training companions and working closely with our team of Progression Workers and Learning & Development Manager. Emmaus collects donations of furniture and household goods from across Oxfordshire and these are sold in our superstore in Cowley and through our online sales business. Proceeds from sales make a major contribution towards our housing & support service. This is a part time role working 22.5 hrs. [3 days] a week and may involve some weekend working and key holding responsibility. It’s a great opportunity to join a growing charity, in a rewarding role, working directly with the charity’s beneficiaries. Your work will directly help ex-homeless men and women, local people on low incomes and help create a better environment through recycling and reuse.

We are seeking a Therapeutic Practitioner to join our newly established Health Team. This specialist role will enhance our current provision and improve the quality and breadth of mental health support available to young people. The successful candidate will work within the Health Team, in collaboration with our partner organisation Camden & Islington Young People's Service, to deliver 1:1 emotional and practical support, assist in our drop-in service, and facilitate workshops for all young people experiencing homelessness.

You will specialise in helping young people improve their self-confidence while improving their understanding of difficult emotions such as anger. Additionally, you will focus on developing their thinking and practical skills, as well as coping and de-escalation strategies. Your work will aim to improve relationships among young people within the day centre, and continue to promote trauma informed working practices across New Horizon, so that all of our services are designed to address the psychological and emotional needs of young people who are unsafe or facing homelessness.

You will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the development of an important and innovative new role. You will be provided with your own theraputic support delivered by a highly experienced clinical psychologist and regular individual and group clinical supervision. We are looking for a well-organised, highly motivated and passionate individual to join our team as a full-time Youth Worker (Youth Voice), supporting our mission to enable young people who are homeless, facing homelessness or unsafe to achieve independence and positive futures.
The successful candidate will work within the Youth Work Team to deliver our frontline drop-in service and support our weekly and monthly activities to all young people experiencing homelessness.
You’ll specialise in ensuring a diverse range of young people’s voices are heard, facilitating inclusive activities which increase youth participation across all our services and leading on the delivery of our youth forums. We have an ambitious plan to improve and accelerate our youth voice strategy and this role will be at the heart of this delivery.
You should be experienced in designing, planning and facilitating a range of activities and group work with and for young people and be able to work dynamically in a fast-paced day centre environment. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about youth engagement and skilled in bringing out the ideas, voices and opinions of young people to shape service delivery. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with a background in running participatory youth projects, co-production, youth engagement sessions and/or community engagement.
The ideal candidate is a team player who enjoys working collaboratively across our organisation. This role also includes working closely with our Campaigns, Impact and Policy team to ensure young people’s voices are at the heart of our external campaigning work.
Finally, you will also be committed to the safeguarding of young people and delivering an inclusive and trauma-informed service.

This role will be based at our day centre in Camden, with some travel to other New Horizon projects within London.

ACT (or Aldates Community Transformation Initiatives) is a welcoming community that includes many with lived experience of prison, street homelessness or addiction. Through street and prison outreach, community meals, mentoring and housing, we help people rebuild their lives after some of life’s toughest experiences.

Crucial to the success of ACT is the Head of Charity, who provides leadership and vision, ensures that its activities are underpinned by prayer, and that this work remains central to the ministry of St Aldates.

As the Head of Charity, you will drive the charity's mission and vision alongside the Board, ensuring our community receives the best possible support.

You will have a heart for those who have been marginalised, and experience of running a business or charity. We are looking for an HR Business Partner who can help develop our people and teams, supporting a positive culture built on our relationships, vision, and ethos.  

Oasis exists to create healthy thriving communities and reduce exclusion, through a holistic approach to community development and social innovation. Our work is centred in local communities where we provide education; youth, children and families work; and community services. We are also working in reducing homelessness, the prevention of human trafficking, and the creation of the UK’s first secure school, Oasis Restore.

Oasis’ work and mission has grown rapidly in the last decade. We are looking to recruit a HR Business Partner to help us move into our next phase of growth and build the capacity of our Oasis Operations Team. 

This is a new and integral position in our charity, so you will need solid employee relation experience and employment law knowledge, to advise managers confidently. Working as part of the established Operations Team, you will also input into finance and budgets, recruitment at senior levels, and developing our policies in line with our ethos and 9 Habits. It’s a bit of everything, which is what makes this role exciting and a great opportunity for someone who is eager to get hands-on experience in working on the People Strategy of a national charity. As part of the wider Oasis family you will be well supported; being able to work collaboratively with different teams and functions, as well as managing your own workload, is essential.

While we envisage the ideal candidate would have a relevant HR qualification, we recognise that as a people professional, a candidate may bring extensive experience, creativity, and wisdom in this field, instead. Growing Mission Strategic Lead – Diocese of Durham

The Diocese of Durham is seeking an innovative, proactive and strategic leader with a passion for Church growth and unity to take on a key new role in the Diocesan team.

As Growing Mission Strategic Lead, you will work collaboratively to enable the delivery of the Growing Mission stream of the Diocesan Transformation programme, with a specific focus on local planning and development, raising missional aspirations and growth opportunities, and facilitating local change.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the development and implementation of the Growing Mission strategy through leading the Growing Mission team, encouraging the development of mission and ministries appropriate to context and challenge, and being an advocate for the vision for transformation throughout the Diocese. 

The successful candidate must:

Ø  Have a deep commitment to a personal Christian faith with a motivation to see that grow in others, and a prayerful and hopeful response to challenge.

Ø  Be a strategic and efficient organiser with great initiative.

Missional Discipleship Enabler – Diocese of Durham

The Diocese of Durham is seeking a creative, proactive and relational team player with a passion for discipleship and prayer to take on a key new role in the Diocesan team.

As Missional Discipleship Enabler, you will be part of the Growing Churches Team and work collaboratively to implement the Missional Discipleship strategy, with a special focus on growing prayer and intercession throughout the Diocese.

The successful candidate will develop discipleship resources that support individuals to grow in their faith and equip leaders to become local enablers of discipleship, and also inspire, grow and connect networks of volunteer Discipleship champions and intercessors from across the Diocese. 

The successful candidate must:

Ø  Have a deep commitment to a personal Christian faith with a motivation to see that grow in others, and a prayerful and hopeful response to challenge.

Ø  Be an excellent organiser with great initiative.

Ø  Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to nurture skills and gifts in others, and excellent creative and persuasive written and oral communication skills.

Ø  Have good Biblical knowledge and a passion for discipleship and prayer.
