Job Description
We're seeking a Finance Business Partner to join our Finance Team, a key group dedicated to making the most of our resources to help achieve our vision: a world where no man dies from prostate cancer.
As a Finance Business Partner, you'll work closely with Directors and Department Heads, helping them understand their financial needs, offering advice on best practices, and providing insights or challenges when necessary. You'll manage and prepare financial reports, including forecasts, budgets, Board KPIs, and management accounts, giving guidance and recommendations where needed.
You'll be a supportive "critical friend" to our programmes, offering advice on finance and procurement, and actively contributing to new projects to establish strong processes. By supporting various programmes, you'll keep an eye on budgets and forecasts, making sure budget holders have the tools they need to monitor their spending. This includes preparing templates, leading training sessions, and responding to any business needs.
Your role will focus on continuously improving business partnering processes that affect our financial reporting and monitoring, always looking for new ways to share business information across teams.
You'll also provide ongoing training and support to budget holders, ensuring compliance with our policies. You'll champion innovation, continuous improvement, and a focus on customer and user engagement for budget holders and key stakeholders.
The Successful Applicant
- Professional accountant qualification i.e. CIMA, ACCA or ACA accreditation (or any suitable recognised equivalent).
- Proven record of preparing financial information for non-finance colleagues and experience in process development and driving improvement.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a track record of identifying issues and implementing effective solutions in a financial context.
- Demonstrated ability to use financial software and tools effectively, including advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial reporting systems.
- Proven ability to adapt to changing environments and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

About the Administrator
At the National Garden Scheme a small central office with a team of 13 is the hub for a wide range of activity involving hundreds of volunteers, thousands of garden owners and a large audience of beneficiary charities, suppliers, supporters and partners, and members of the public who want to visit gardens and engage with the charity.
The administrator is the first point of contact for many of these, being responsible for answering the main telephone line and managing the general email inbox. They are also responsible for managing the office environment on behalf of their colleagues.
In normal years, they also carry out the administration of certain annual events and projects including our annual lecture and presence at the Chelsea Flower Show.
The right candidate ideally will have some experience as an administrator or receptionist and will be comfortable in a busy, hands-on and varied role. What kind of research does the NSPCC Research and Evidence team do?
The NSPCC Research and Evidence team carries out, commissions and partners on high quality social research. We seek to answer big and small questions around preventing and stopping child abuse, and how to support children who have experienced it.
- Our research is child-centred, meaningful and useful - it drives improvements to our work with children, families and communities, influences the development of policy and guidance, and contributes to new NSPCC campaigns, as well as adding to the wider evidence base.
- We also support research activity at NSPCC via our Research Advice Clinic, Evidence Summary Service, and the NSPCC Research Ethics Committee.
What will the job involve?
This is an exciting and varied role for a researcher with excellent project management skills. You'll be working with colleagues in departments across the NSPCC including Childline, Policy and Public Affairs, Knowledge and Information, Schools services and Participation. Current projects we're working on include research on technology assisted online sexual extortion, sex and relationships education at secondary and primary levels, problematic sexual behaviour and provision of services to tackle loneliness, to name just a few.
Specifically, the role will involve:
- Designing and project managing research on a wide range of NSPCC research projects.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to develop research projects and advising other teams in the NSPCC about how to carry out robust and ethical research.
- Communicating research findings to a range of different audiences including colleagues, practitioners, decision makers, policy makers, academics and the children and families who access our services.
- Managing junior members of the team directly and via our matrix management structure.
What experience are we looking for?
You will have demonstrable experience of undertaking and managing complex research and evaluation projects in different settings and contexts. You will have a passion for the NSPCC's mission, and for child-centred, participatory research, as well as a strong understanding of:

In this role you will be supporting clients at the assessment hub, readying them for move on and helping clients to obtain longer term accommodation. The service supports clients who have been referred by the local authority and outreach teams. The aim is to assess clients, provide support for their needs and find accommodation for them within a 28-day period. This is not always possible due to the complex nature of move on, but the service plays a pivotal role in the lives of many homeless people.

About the role
You’ll build and maintain relationships between Parkinson’s UK and existing, as well as potential new supporters, through high quality communications. You’ll also process voluntary income and associated data received at the UK office. You’ll look to maximise the potential of each supporter, as well as how the charity can support them, working with your team and colleagues across the charity. You will ensure that every supporter has a great experience of Parkinson’s UK.
What you’ll do:
- Provide a welcoming, efficient, proactive and professional service to supporters and potential supporters of Parkinson’s UK
- Be the first point of contact for any supporters contacting the charity. Manage numerous inboxes and entry points for teams across the organisation.
- Processing and thanking all offline income received at the UK office, paid over the phone or into the bank account through a variety of methods.
- The team are experts in providing excellent customer care and have to maintain good working knowledge of all fundraising activity; research developments; current campaigns and the requirements of people affected by Parkinson’s
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of systems and procedures including the organisation's feedback function.
What you’ll bring:
- Proven experience of delivering effective customer service/supporter care with the ability to deal with enquiries in a diplomatic and sensitive manner
- Demonstrable experience of working with a relational database and accurate data entry
- Ability to understand numerous complex data manipulation and financial processes, procedures and platforms; necessitating a high level of skill, accuracy and understanding of data and financial dependencies
- Ability to work flexibly and effectively as part of a team
- Ability to develop positive working relationships with a range of people internally and externally.

The Role: The successful candidate will be working with adults in a residential setting delivering assessments, group sessions and one-to-one therapy to those admitted to the service. The post holder will offer an intensive, abstinent-based programme with high levels of group therapy and a strong emphasis on aftercare support. The role will include facilitating specialist psycho-educational groups, 12 step, relapse prevention therapeutic groups and individual counselling sessions.
You will work closely with our Supported Housing team and be required to participate in regular team meetings. You will also be required to liaise with external agencies and work creatively to provide the most appropriate treatment plans for clients with complex needs. You may be required to cover occasional evening Aftercare groups.
Main Responsibilities
- Undertake assessments of people entering the service through various referral sources.
- Develop, facilitate, and review a group work programme that meets the needs of our clients. These might include dual diagnosis, trauma, cross-addiction, criminal justice issues and various types of substance use.
- Provide a holistic package of care to individuals which meets their needs and includes working with colleagues across other teams to help residents with diversionary activities, employment, training, and education.
- Work with the Supported Housing team to ensure residents are safe, secure, and maintain their tenancies and are prepared to move onto independent living.
- Provide a range of one-to-one interventions that might include MI, person-centered care, CBT, DBT and trauma work.
- Manage a caseload of individuals with a wide spectrum of needs.
- Assist residents to understand the effects and benefits of any medication prescribed for them and the importance of complying with treatment regimes. This might include liaising with pharmacists, doctors, and psychiatrists for monitoring purposes.
- Provide psychoeducation to raise awareness and understanding of substances and their effects.
- Provide onward referral and liaison with wrap-around support within SCT to enable our residents to achieve social integration and personal development.
