This is a key role in the Operations department. You’ll be providing financial, administrative and coordination support to the Nutrition Team so we can play a role in ending hunger. You’ll support business development, track our finances, monitor our UNICEF contracts as spot areas for improvement in all we do.  You will also have the opportunity to develop your technical skills in project design, literature review, drafting and editing of learning documents.

You’ll also engage with other teams within Action Against Hunger UK (e.g. finance,) the Senior Operations Co-Ordinator and Action Against Hunger’s International teams (country level, HQs) as relevant.

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Curator to join our team based in London. You will join us on a full-time, permanent, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £25,500 per annum.

The Royal Air Force Museum is a national museum, a Government non-departmental public body (NDPB) and a registered charity, with two sister sites at London and Midlands. Purpose of the Assistant Curator role is to:

• To support the work of the Archives and Library team in enabling access and understanding of the collections
• To assist in looking after the Archive and Library collections to ensure their development and preservation
• To assist cross-departmental teams in the delivery of the Museum’s vision and Strategy 2030
• To undertake research and disseminate knowledge in support of the Museum’s programmes

Key responsibilities of our Assistant Curator include:

Access and Research 

• Facilitate access to the collections and information relating to and contained within them according to Department policies and procedures
• Answer requests for information received from Museum colleagues, visiting researchers and external enquirers within agreed timeframes
• Supervise and assist researchers using the Museum’s reading room. • Disseminate knowledge through the delivery of agreed and supported outputs including but not limited to the undertaking of outreach activity, exhibition and digital content
• Build and enhance your knowledge of RAF history including the development of knowledge of the collections held by the Department
• Contribute to the Museum’s Research Programme by undertaking research and through the delivery of agreed and supported outputs including, but not limited to, talks and blogs 3

Stewardship 

• Assist in caring for the Museum’s Archive and Library collections as directed and in accordance with Museum policies and procedures as well as sector best practice guidelines
• Assist as directed in developing the Archive and Library collections through the acquisition and disposal of material and liaison with stakeholders
• Document and catalogue the collections to enhance access and research use in line with Museum policies and procedures and Spectrum standards.
• Contribute to the Museum’s digitisation programmes, undertaking digitisation of documents, recording metadata and uploading to the Museum’s databases

Administration and Departmental Support 

• Supervise volunteers as required
• Collect data and provide reports both in writing and through presentations and discussion as required
• Contribute actively to business risk management and Health and Safety management
• Support cross - departmental teams as required.

What we are looking for in our Assistant Curator:

• High level of knowledge related to Museum practice and administration gained through employment or a relevant qualification.
• Experience of using Collections Management systems, including Collections Management databases
• Demonstrable experience of working with archive and library collections
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent Microsoft Office software skills

 About the role

As the Hospital Based Youth Worker, you will be supporting young people, aged 11-19, presenting at UCLH emergency department or who are inpatients within various areas of the hospital for whom there are safeguarding or there psycho-social support needs identified. The work with young people will be primarily hospital based, but you will also support some young people for longer term support in the community. You will engage with and support young people with their immediate needs and connect them with relevant community services for further support. Working in partnership with other professionals you will support young people’s holistic needs to enable long term improvement of healthy behaviours and opportunities to thrive.

To succeed in this role, you need to be proactive, a people person and passionate about supporting young people. You will have extensive experience working with young people who are vulnerable and have a wide range of needs, and a strong understanding of the support they need. You will ideally have a thorough understanding and knowledge of services for young people in Camden and Islington and other London boroughs and both community and local authority-based partners. Resilience, self- reflection and flexibility are all essential to this role and you will participate regularly in clinical supervision to broaden your practice and emotional literacy.

You must also be a skilled communicator: as comfortable building a relationship with a young person as you are liaising with our clinical colleagues in hospital and community-based partners. You’ll be keen to keep learning, seizing training opportunities at Redthread and continuously reflecting upon and improving your practice.

Project coordination

• Coordination and delivery of The Spark Early Years programme, including the following projects - Small Wonders and Music Champions
• Plan and coordinate the delivery of projects within the timelines and budget agreed, including artist, partner and venue liaison and administration
• Support the Small Wonders lead artist in developing, recruiting to, and coordinating the parent champion element of our early years projects
• Work closely with partners (colleagues at children’s centres and libraries) to plan and agree activity schedules and dates for early years sessions in children’s centres, libraries and community venues

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join us as an Outreach Worker supporting individuals who are homeless with complex needs and have been excluded from services.

Richmond Fellowship works as part of the Bridge the Gap Alliance within a well-established, multidisciplinary team set up to meet the needs of homeless people based in East Surrey. We provide support to clients with interventions through specialist workers including Mental Health, Substance Misuse, Community Inclusion, Homelessness, Crisis Prevention, Social Work, and financial support.

We are currently seeking an Outreach Worker who will be responsible for engaging with individuals with multiple and complex needs and working alongside internal & external agencies. You will support people through their journeys into statutory and voluntary services. The post holder will be expected to navigate local service provision, building strong relationships with a range of different professionals whilst advocating on the client’s behalf.

We will work with local partners to co-ordinate the care of clients to influence change in the way that organisations provide services to individuals facing multiple needs and exclusions. Applicants must have empathy with the client group and the ability to work within the ethos of Richmond Fellowship.

You will need to enjoy working with people, have a “can do” attitude and show commitment, resilience, empathy and good basic admin and IT skills. to effect system changes that can more effectively support those with complex and multiple needs and ensures that positive changes are made in the way that local services are provided.

They will work with voluntary and statutory sector organisations to develop a personalised case management approach for homeless individuals with multiple and complex needs.

You will have experience of helping vulnerable people to identify personal goals and supporting them through a process of change, building supportive, trusting relationships with clients and working proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities.  They will support clients to set personalised goals in the form of a Support Plan, conducting regular key work sessions that are innovative and engaging to achieve Support Plan goals and ensuring ongoing assessment and management of risks associated with clients within an attitude of ‘positive risk taking’.

This is a fixed term post that ends on 31 March 2025. There are two part time posts available requiring the post holder to work 18 hours per week. This role includes evening and weekend working.

We are looking to recruit a manager for our Aldgate East Charity Shop. The ultimate aim of the Manager’s job is to manage staff, volunteers and available resources to the optimum benefit of SCT, terms of both income and the mission of the Charity in supporting people in recovery from addition, achieved through:

Charity retail management (60%)

• Ensuring the safe and profitable running of the shop leading a team of staff and volunteers to motivate them to deliver exceptional customer service to customers and donors; recruiting, training and managing and team according to SCT’s values, policies and procedures.
• Maximising sales, engagement and impact to achieve set targets to raise Unrestricted Income for charitable objectives by contributing surplus of in excess of £100,000 per annum.

The role 

If you want to help us end the Disability Employment Gap, Lead Policy Adviser (Employment) is the role for you. You’ll help us turn the evidence we have into robust policy recommendations.

We’re looking for someone who will:

• Use their detailed knowledge of policy influencing to come up with creative and effective ways to ensure that the next Government prioritises these issues.

• Throughout it all, ensure disabled people’s experiences are included and their voices amplified. 

• Pass a basic DBS check.

You will:

• Have good understanding of how Whitehall and Westminster work, and you’ll know how to create change.

• Know how government policy is made, influenced and the role research plays in the process.

• Be passionate about disability equality and understand the challenges disabled people face.

• Have experience of working with people from marginalised backgrounds would be another advantage.

Community Programmes Assistant – 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Together with our partners and everyone who participates in the lottery, our staff members all work towards creating a better, greener and more socially inclusive world. Each year, the Community Programmes Team process thousands of applications for funding and work across 6 x Trusts. Over 4,000 good causes were supported last year by these Trusts for good causes across Great Britain. Reporting to the Community Programmes Advisor, you will work across 6 x Postcode Trusts (Postcode Trust, Local Trust, Community Trust, Society Trust, Neighbourhood Trust and Places Trust). This role will support the Community Programmes funding cycles, grant holders and applicants and support with processes involved in distributing grants to good causes across GB.

Your tasks:

• Answer enquiries from good causes by email, letter and telephone for the 6 Community Programme Trusts. This includes providing advice on our funding programmes and supporting applicants and grant holders
• Booking and setting up meeting rooms, this involves supporting the preparation of papers, making refreshments, minute taking and arranging travel/accommodation
• Use Salesforce effectively, efficiently and consistently to assess funding applications up to the value of £25,000, complete due diligence checks, review and reply to evaluations, update records and create reports
• Assisting in organising ‘how to apply for funding’ workshops including presenting to potential applicants in front of audiences of up to 100 people and supporting Community Programme Officers with external event planning
• Oversee and maintain the 6 x Trust websites to ensure content is accurate and up to date, this will include creating content after each funding round

Your qualities: 

• Extremely organised working to tight deadlines along with good oral and written communication skills, able to take minutes, draft reports, prepare presentations and bring solutions when challenges arise
• Pro-active approach with a can-do attitude. This will involve being a strong team player, supporting team members with their workloads, bring new ideas to improve processes, able to work under pressure, managing own workload and juggling priorities and deadlines
• Experience in a similar role and passionate for smaller charities and good causes with voluntary sector experience/ good knowledge of the charity sector in GB
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft, e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Analytical and problem-solving skills and the confidence to make decisions within the parameters defined by the Community Programmes Advisor

Annual salary: £16,000 (£32,000 full-time equivalent)

About ESOL learning at CARAS 

For many years now, ESOL learning has been essential to our holistic offer. Community members typically tell us that learning English is their top priority when they join us. The CARAS ESOL project won the President’s Award at the 2021 Festival of Learning in recognition of our work. 

The CARAS ESOL project supports people in the early stages of ESOL learning. Our adult ESOL groups prepare learners for entry-level Speaking and Listening or Reading and Writing exams with the English Speaking Board. All classes have rolling admission throughout the year, which means the learner groups are evolving all the time. 

ESOL classes at CARAS are guided by our values and principles, including participatory education, trauma-informed practice and translanguaging pedagogy. The three main aims of the ESOL project are to: 

• increase learners’ communicative competence and confidence; 

• help learners progress into college, training or employment; 

• expand learners’ social networks. 

Main activities 

• teaching ESOL classes (face-to-face and online): 7 hours / 5 classes a week during term time (38 weeks a year), ESOL Literacies, Pre-Entry to Entry 2 level 

• supporting ESOL learners to develop essential digital skills and literacies by embedding them in the lessons 

• preparing groups to take exams accredited by the English Speaking Board 

• collaborating closely with the adult team to develop and facilitate the CARAS employability project  

• planning for and accompanying ESOL groups on educational trips once a term 

• assessing learners during their engagement in the programme and planning for move on support with college applications, volunteering opportunities and signposting to other ESOL provisions 

• completing admin tasks such as class records and learner enrolment 

• developing participatory and creative lesson plans to inspire and meet the needs of the learner group 

• meeting new community members to do an intake meeting with them once a month.

• recruiting and supervising a team of volunteer ESOL Teaching Assistants as and when required 

• communicating with learners between classes to support their engagement and provide signposting or referrals to casework and external services 

• participating in training, supervision and team meetings where required 

• meeting with staff at CARAS and at partner organisations to ensure community members are receiving holistic support 

• contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of Learning programmes 

• working in accordance with CARAS policies and procedures, including those regarding safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity 

Person specification 

We expect applicants to meet most of the criteria below, but not everything. We value experience from volunteering, unpaid work and lived experience as well as from employment history. 

In the application form and at interview, we will assess if you: 

• have a recognised ESOL teaching qualification, minimum Level 5 (e.g. CELTA or CertTESOL), preferably Level 7 (e.g. PGCE with ESOL specialism) or equivalent 

• have a minimum one year full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience of teaching ESOL to adults or young adults 

• have a track record of successfully teaching beginner-level ESOL learners and providing differentiated support 

• have any knowledge or experience in providing literacy support to learners new to reading and writing English

• take a creative and participatory approach to learning 

• have experience of teaching preparation classes for ESOL exams that include reading and writing components 

• can support learners to develop their literacy & digital skills 

• know a variety of ways to assess learners, including diagnostic and formative assessment 

• can work with classes that have rolling admission throughout the year 

• can communicate clearly and with people from diverse backgrounds 

• use methods for delivering online classes over Zoom (or similar online platform) that follow the principles of learner-centred, communicative language teaching
