Job description

Volunteers needed to provide support to local families within Southwark and Lewisham

Volunteers needed to support local families within Southwark and Lewisham, offering peer support to families with children under the age of 5. Support would typically include helping the family to access local activities, playing with children and offering a listening ear. All volunteers are required to attend our 6 session volunteer preparation course which covers topics such as safeguarding, personal safety, child development and developing listening skills. Next Course begins on 4th February.

Volunteering with Home-Start is suitable for anyone keen to offer peer support to local families and is particularly suitable for those who are parents or have experience of working with young children and would like to give back to their community. It is also a great opportunity for those wanting to get back into the work place or to gain experience for a career within family or social work.
