Ashford Badger Unit meets every Thursday (term time only) from 6pm-7:30pm. Please outline your availability in your application.
Expected to undergo a DBS check & e-learning modules. A candidate must undergo Safeguarding Level 2, Fundamentals, Principles, First Aid for Youth Leaders ad Day Warrant training to progress to a Youth Leader.

Airplay is part of the RAF Benevolent fund and run by One YMCA. We provide youth clubs for children aged eight to eighteen which includes Ben Clubs for children aged 5 to 7 too. We provide a range of social activities in state-of-the-art facilities with sessions run by our friendly youth workers.

MAIN TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
· To support the provision of the Airplay and Ben Club activities and workshops
· Developing relationships with young people in a safe environment
· Supervising children and young people in activities, workshops and discussion sessions
· Engaging in learning and play with younger children
· Working with children and young people to track their progress
· Data entry/light admin work may be required
YOU WILL NEED:
· Good communication skills
· Knowledge/Experience of working with children/young people/families
· Ability to engage with young people
· Team player with a flexible approach
· Non-judgmental and understanding in the differing needs of families
· Any practical skills to assist with activities
· Basic understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding
· Respect the Christian Ethos of One YMCA and uphold its values
YOU WILL RECEIVE:
· A full induction to Airplay will be provided
· Requirement to complete online e-learning including Safeguarding and Health & Safety
· A menu of optional training will be provided
· Ongoing support and regular 1 to 1s

· You will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check
· Additional checks may be required for individual RAF Stations
· Two references will be required

We are looking for fun, reliable, and enthusiastic Independent Visitor volunteers from all different cultures, backgrounds and experiences who have a genuine interest in making a difference to the lives of children and young people.
Our Staffordshire Independent Visitor Service is looking for volunteers in or near to Burton.
- Are you passionate about wanting to help young people?
- Do you have 2 to 4 hours to spare, once a month?
- Are you ready to make a long-term, regular, commitment?
If the answer is yes and you would like to support a child or young person currently in the care of their local authority, then we would love to hear from you.
You will decide with your young person what to do, but activities could include going to the cinema, bowling, playing football, going to a restaurant, riding a bike, or walking in a park. We will match you with a child you share common interests with.
You do not need experience of working with children and young people, just an interest in their development and welfare. Full training and support are provided.
Here’s a few of the young people we have waiting for a volunteer:
- Amy (12) lives with an older carer, she would like an active Independent Visitor who can do sports with her.
- Brad (13) lives in residential care with other young people, he doesn’t have anyone in his family visit. He would like an Independent Visitor to take him out and have fun, like the other young people.
- Cassie (16) lives with carers in a new town, she doesn’t have any friends in the area yet. She would like an Independent Visitor to help with her confidence and going out in the local area, she loves hot chocolate and cake.
- Danny (11) lives with foster carers and attends a special school. He would like an Independent Visitor to help him be more independent, he likes parks, aeroplanes, and animals.
- Emma (9) lives with her carer in a very busy household, she would like an Independent Visitor to spend some time with her on her own trying different activities together.

The Application
- Volunteering mainly happens at weekends and after school hours as the young people are usually in school during the daytime
- The role requires commitment of at least 24 months with one visit per month; this ensures stability for the Child or Young Person
- Complete the Personal Statement section on the application form as fully as possible; tell us all about you; it forms part of the shortlisting process

No one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it. St John Ambulance teaches people first aid so they can be the difference between life and death, and you can help us do this.
As Unit Manager you will be responsible for the overall management of your St John Ambulance Youth unit. You will do this by leading weekly meetings, organising other youth development activities and actively participating in the recruitment, training and retention of the young people and volunteers in your unit. You will ensure that they have a positive and rewarding experience in St John Ambulance, by equipping them with the necessary skills to fulfil our vision; ‘Everyone who needs it should receive first aid from those around them. No one should suffer for the lack of trained first aiders.’
This role is ideal for someone who has some management experience and wants to enhance their skills while doing invaluable work. This role is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitations Offenders Act.
