We are seeking four new trustees to become members of our board. Trustees ensure that the food bank acts in conformity with its purpose and with charity legislation, and that good governance, best practice policies and rigorous financial supervision are in place. OVERVIEW
Poltimore House Trust is a registered charity dedicated to the restoration of an historic mansion just outside Exeter. Despite an arson attack which caused severe damage to the House, the Trust Board’s commitment to restoration as a focal point for the arts, business, communities and wellbeing remains undiminished. A new Board has been recruited over the last two years, bringing a wide range of professional expertise and experience to the Trust.
In addition to the House, the Trust owns 13.6 acres of the historic estate and established a popular Café in 2022 which was unaffected by the fire. The Board is committed to developing a strategy for the Grounds which blends heritage restoration, biodiversity and a unique visitor experience.
The Grounds are maintained by a committed team of some 30 regular volunteers, and a campaign is currently underway to increase recruitment. Corporate volunteering has also grown recently and the Trust is seeking further opportunities to develop this valuable area of support further. The Board recognises that, as a volunteer-led organisation, we need to build a positive culture which delivers high levels of satisfaction for those who give us their time.
We are therefore seeking a Trustee with appropriate skills to take the lead in the recruitment, care and deployment of our growing team of volunteers. This is a hands on role which will involve a presence on site for at least one day a week, as well as participation in Board and Committee meetings. In return, you will be a highly valued member of the Board, playing a key role in the restoration of this historic House and Grounds.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a Trustee with the skills required to deliver the duties and tasks outlined below, and to act as a full member of our Board.

The Great North Run is the biggest half marathon in the world with over 50,000 runners taking part. Mencap has runners who have signed up to run and fundraise for us. The Role
We are looking for new trustees to strengthen and enhance our board. The key responsibilities of the role include, governance, overseeing policy and direction, financial oversight and assisting with the leadership and general promotion of We Are Family to support the organisation’s Vision, Mission, Values and needs.

Commitment

Tanzania Development Trust (TDT) works in some of the poorest parts of Tanzania, helping people to lift themselves out of poverty by funding small projects that meet their essential needs.
It sponsors 40-50 small rural development projects p.a. in Tanzania, mainly in the areas of clean water, girls' education and small income generating activities. It also has 3-4 larger, longer-term projects. Its primary function is fundraising, although it provides general project management and business advice where appropriate.
Around half of its income comes from individual donors, and half from Trusts & Foundations. It helps villagers in Tanzania who lack the capacity and language skills to present their projects to international donors, conducting project appraisals and monitoring project outcomes on their behalf. The projects are implemented by the villagers themselves, or by small local contractors.
TDT is run entirely by volunteers (17 regular volunteers in the UK and 16 local representatives in Tanzania). It has no paid staff, premises or overheads, so 100% of all money raised goes directly to projects in Tanzania.
We are looking for additional Trustees who can help us to grow by identifying potential donors, increasing awareness of our activities, and strengthening our project selection and monitoring procedures.
We would like at least one of the new Trustees to help us with fund-raising by piloting more innovative and creative approaches. Experience of living or working in Tanzania is not essential, but to improve the Board’s racial diversity we would like at least one of the new Trustees to be of Tanzanian origin or have strong connections with East Africa.
The Trustees are all unpaid. Although their main job is the overall direction of the business, they can become involved in day-to-day operations if they so wish. We all work remotely, which helps us to engage with our local representatives in Tanzania in everything we do.

Role Summary
To bring our vision to life, we are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Podcast Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support the production of our podcast by assisting with editing videos, analysing data, organising recordings, pursuing monetization opportunities, and performing other administrative tasks. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about podcasting, has strong technical skills, and enjoys working in a fast-paced creative environment.
Key tasks
- Video and Audio Editing - Edit podcast episodes for audio quality and clarity.
- Data Analysis - Monitor podcast analytics to track performance metrics such as downloads, listens, audience demographics, and engagement. Prepare regular reports, insights, and recommendations.
- Administrative Support - Manage the podcast’s content calendar and ensure timely release of episodes.
- Marketing and Promotion - Assist with creating and scheduling social media posts to promote episodes.
- Monetisation - Proactively seek sponsorship opportunities and manage relationships with sponsors. Develop and implement strategies for monetising the podcast through platforms such as YouTube ads and affiliate marketing.
What we’re looking for
- Passion for Islamic education and the development of young Muslims.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in project management and organisational skills.
- Proven experience with audio and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Final Cut Pro, Audacity, GarageBand).
- Familiarity with podcast hosting platforms and analytics tools (e.g., Libsyn, Anchor, Podbean, Chartable) would be an asset, but not essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Passion for podcasting and storytelling.
- Basic understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing.
