We are seeking new members of the Ministries Committee to start 1 September 2024, initially for a term of three years, renewable for a further 3 years if desired.
This is a well-established committee which will report to the new Connexional Council, which from September 2024 will be the trustee body of the Methodist Church in Great Britain. The Committee is charged with responsibility to keep in constant review the life of the Methodist Church as it relates to Ministries, to reflect strategically and review ministries related work that will enable the work of the Church to be more effective, and to review the formational and support needs of those who exercise ministry on behalf of the Church. Working collaboratively with other committee members and with the Mission Committee and Resourcing Committee, you will bring a range of circuit experiences or other experiences of the Methodist Church to the work of the Ministries Committee.
Expressions of interest are invited from both lay and ordained members of the Methodist Church in Britain. You are encouraged to apply if you feel that overall your skills and experience meet the person specification requirements. You will have some experience of serving on a church body and some experience or interest in cross-cultural ministry, stationing or training.

Chaired by Debbie Marshall, Managing Director of the Silver Marketing Association, our trustees bring knowledge and experience in travel, sustainability, healthcare management, law and finance from their respective sectors. We are looking for three more trustees to join them who would also be keen advocates for the cause and are well-networked in their fields.
The role will involve attending up to six meetings a year, all digitally accessible, but with the aim of meeting in person on two of those occasions in London and at our offices near Chelmsford. In addition to providing strategic oversight, support, and challenge to the organisation, which comprises 24 staff and over 120 volunteers, there will be opportunities to engage in various ways, with an average time commitment of three hours per month.

We support people diagnosed with BPD, those who are living with symptoms, and their loved ones.
Key responsibilities
- Maintaining a comprehensive overview of trends and developments on BPD, mental health, wellbeing and recovery
- Research and write feature articles for our website
- Able to submit a minimum of 2 articles per month for publication
- Verify accuracy of facts and obtain supplemental material and additions details from reputable and knowledgeable sources
- Interview people in a range of different circumstances as needed
- Build contacts to maintain a flow of news, for example, emergency services, local councils, community groups, healthcare facilities, press officers, etc.
- Create relevant content for our website
- Acting as an ambassador for Borderline Support UK CIC
Experience
We welcome applications from people with different and varied skills, for this role we are particularly looking for:
- 3+ years experience in writing, research and/or reporting
- Excellent writing ability
- Good analytical skills
- Flexible and able to work independently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong listening skills
- Excellent organisation and prioritising skills
- Good attention to detail
- Creative and innovative approach

Time Commitment
Time can be as little or as much as you can give, we are flexible to fit around your commitments. All volunteers are required to complete an induction (held virtually over Teams) and be happy to attend regular meetings online with your team.
Practical Considerations
You will receive training from the leadership team, and ongoing direction from a named key contact. We carry out reference checks for all individuals who will be volunteering with us on a regular basis. Volunteers will be required to complete induction and basic training before commencing the role. Volunteers must be over 18, and have the right to live and work in the UK.
