Friends Provident Foundation is looking for new Trustees to help guide its programmes of giving and investment, which aim to build a fair and sustainable economy in the UK. We are working toward this aim through supporting action, building knowledge, and using our endowment as a tool for change.
We are particularly seeking perspectives that may challenge conventional thinking and would like to hear from people with an active interest in how the economy works and who have a drive to shape society.
You will need to be committed to our ambitious mission of using all our assets to bring about the change we wish to see. We are seeking to appoint more than one Trustee and are particularly interested to hear from people with one or more of the following areas of experience: financial management; social investment and/or investment; working in the voluntary sector; Equity Diversity and Inclusion; systems change. You will be willing to apply your skills and experience in regular Trustee meetings, share your insights, be willing to learn from those we work with as well as make a creative contribution as a Trustee. All Trustees work closely with the Foundation’s staff to achieve our objectives and you will need to commit on average one day a month to the Foundation’s business.
We wish to add to the Board from a wide pool of applicants and welcome people of colour, disabled people and those from a working-class background or with experience of poverty or any other disadvantage.

Shannon Trust fulfils an unmet need around adult learning, supporting people who’ve fallen through the cracks in formal education.
We know a lot of people have had negative learning experiences in the past, so our programme is designed to be different, with no exams and no classrooms. Our unique, evidence-based Turning Pages reading manuals and Count Me In numeracy manuals are used by thousands of learners in prisons and the community to improve reading skills.
Prison volunteers live near to their local prison so that they can visit about once a month during the working week to nurture the growth of the Shannon Trust in their prison. They help unlock the power of reading by offering advice, guidance, training and support to prison staff and prisoner mentors who help other prisoners to improve their skills 1 to 1.
We are looking for volunteers who are able to deliver engaging training to groups of people in prisons and able to give a regular, reliable commitment for ideally two years. You don't need to be a teacher or professional trainer for this role, training is provided. Due to the nature of the role, prison security vetting will be required.
We provide training for the role via e-learning and 4 training sessions which are a mix of live, online and group training.

We are looking to recruit a Communications Volunteer for the Plymouth and Tamar Valley Group. As our Communications Volunteer you’ll make sure people know they have a local MS Society group to turn to.
In this role you’ll be able to develop your writing skills, and gain an experience of communicating across a range of digital channels.
Time commitment
We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
About you
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email. About Cruse
Cruse is Britain’s oldest and largest bereavement charity. In the Midlands, Cruse brings together more than 500 volunteers to helped support bereaved people, through a mix of individual and group sessions.
Cruse volunteers all pass through the same training process. Some volunteers are trained or trainee counsellors, whilst others have bereavement experience or put their listening skills to practice in helping people through their grief journey.
Cruse Worcestershire
The well-established Cruse branch of Worcestershire is seeking a Volunteer Chair. This active branch has 30 volunteers and can be supporting approximately 100 bereaved people at any one time. The volunteer team predominantly support service users via phone or Zoom, but does have outposts across the area. The team meet for regular forums and also hold in-person meetings, to socialise and cover learning topics specific to the work.
The role
The branch is looking for a Volunteer Chair. This role of Chair will be stimulating and call on your strategic and interpersonal skills.
It provides an opportunity to work alongside an experienced and diverse team of volunteers and staff in a rapidly changing environment to make a real difference to the people of Worcestershire.
The Chair provides a focal point for the branch, representing the volunteers and delivering a sense of cohesion to the volunteer group, championing their priorities and supporting key activities like learning, social events and fundraising.
The role is not remunerated. However, reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out the role will be repaid.
Time Commitment
· The Branch Forum meets approximately 8 times a year for 1.5 hours in the evening (7pm – 8.30pm).
· Monthly operations-focused meetings with the volunteer administrators/part-time staff approx. every 6 weeks.
· Ad hoc communication outside of formal meetings.
· Attendance of Cruse national meetings based on interest/focus
· 3 in-person group social/learning events each year

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Capital Campaign Manager will coordinate all aspects of a joint fundraising campaign to create the Stand Up for Gaza project and campaign to launch mid Q3 2024. The culmination of this collaborative project will result in many outcomes, namely the distribution of hygiene H.E.R. Kits to the women and girls of Palestine most affected by the ongoing Israeli war. The Stand Up for Gaza project will provide a platform where experts, artists and the general public will come together for the purpose of educating the public and creating thoughtful conversations about the ongoing distress experienced by women and girls in Palestine since the beginning of the Israeli war, as well as implement distribution of HER Kits.
Performed remotely, this role is considered temporary through December 2024. Contract employment will be considered for the right candidate at a negotiable rate.
DUTIES:
- Overall campaign management and organisation including pipelines, prospect tracking, strategy, task assignment and maintenance of timelines;
- Researching and identifying prospects;
- Scheduling meetings, preparing talking points, assembling presentations, and full meeting prep for partners, campaign volunteers and IWI staff;
- Overseeing acknowledgement of all campaign gifts and pledges and preparation of pledge payment reminders and pledge agreements;
- Writing all campaign correspondence including solicitation proposals, meeting requests, and meeting follow up;
- Maintaining master campaign calendar to maximise cultivation events and keep campaign committee on track;
- Organising and monitoring volunteer assignments and follow-up, and assisting in all aspects of volunteer-led events.
JOB SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
- Strong organisational skills and project management experience;
- Excellent written and verbal communication;
- Interest in women’s human rights, advocacy and INGO/NGO fundraising;
- Team oriented and able to work independently;
- Diplomatic and confident; able to maintain good relationships with donors while enforcing expectations and requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
IWI seeks a seasoned, responsible, focused individual, with outstanding organisational skills and high level of accuracy. Experience in, and knowledge of fundraising, specifically capital campaigns, is required. The successful candidate will be highly organised, self-motivated, detail-oriented, creative, strategic, professional and able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. Excellent writing, analytical, and research skills are essential. Candidates must have a high level of computer literacy, including experience using online databases and other sources to locate financial and philanthropic information, and possess exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff, volunteers, donors, and prospective donors. Bachelor’s degree is preferred. A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in event planning, project management, fundraising, communications, marketing, or similar functions, preferably in a non-profit setting.

The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT) is the charity established and funded by the UK Government to promote and support Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) in the UK.
Our purpose is to promote and support Holocaust Memorial Day as the UK’s national day to commemorate the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of other people killed under Nazi persecution of other groups and in genocides that followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur; to encourage people to learn lessons from the past and take steps to challenge hatred and persecution.
Our present Chair, Laura Marks CBE, will have held the role for nine years when she steps down in the summer of 2025. Under her leadership the Trust has advanced greatly and is now widely recognised and acknowledged for its work in leading not only the national commemoration of the Holocaust each January but also for its work in commemorating the subsequent genocides in Bosnia, Cambodia, Darfur and Rwanda and in spreading the messages to be learned from all of these tragic events throughout the year to schools, local authorities, community groups and many other organisations throughout the UK.
We are now seeking a Chair who has the ability and emotional intelligence to engage effectively and sympathetically with a very wide range of colleagues, stakeholders and opinion formers in an area which remains for many one of the most harrowing in human history.

Our experts offer support that’s tailored to the individual needs of each person, whether that’s at our centres, through our holidays and short breaks, or in people’s own homes. In addition to practical support, we also provide information to families, and campaign for the rights of people with complex disabilities to take part in life.
Our amazing team of volunteers help us run over 100 shops across England and Wales.
Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.
We’re looking for volunteers who are:
- Reliable and friendly
- Respectful of others and their diversity
- Passionate about customer service
- Interested in learning about and supporting the work of Sense
Volunteering in one of our Sense Shops will involve a variety of tasks that you can get involved with. These include:
- Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
- Receiving donated goods from members of the public
- Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
- Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
- Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
- Processing sales and serving on the till
- Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
- Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
- Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
- Following new health, safety and social distancing measures to ensure the safety of everyone
We believe that volunteers enable us to bring people together and provide opportunities for people with complex disabilities to communicate and experience the world. This is why it is important to us that our volunteers feel supported and rewarded. Here is what we can offer you as a volunteer:
- A full induction and ongoing support and guidance from your Shop Manager to make sure you feel confident in your role
- Support to develop new skills, knowledge and experience, in particular of a retail environment, but also skills such as teamwork, customer service, communication and using your initiative
- A reference for other paid or voluntary work (available on request)

Our rivers are facing a crisis, besieged by development, urban and agricultural runoff, the discharge of raw sewage and the relentless exploitation of water resources. As climate change exacerbates droughts and floods, the very essence of our rivers, and the life they sustain, hangs in the balance.
At the South East Rivers Trust (SERT) we are working hard to respond urgently to this crisis. We believe that when rivers thrive so do people and nature. Our vision is that rivers in the south east are clean, healthy and rich in biodiversity. Our mission is to protect and restore rivers and catchments and provide increased resilience to a dramatically changing climate and the many pressures our precious rivers face. Our ambition is to grow our organisational capacity to be even more effective in each of the 12 river catchments in our footprint.
The Board of Trustees is SERT’s governing body, responsible for setting SERT’s strategic direction and providing oversight. We have a strong and committed group of Trustees who bring a wealth of experience and expertise.
Following a review, we are seeking three new Trustees to join the Board who will bring expertise in one of the following areas:
- Farming, Agriculture, Landownership
- Design and delivery of large technical or engineering-based projects
- Environment Agency/water company/relevant government background
- Community engagement
SERT seeks to be as representative as possible of the communities we serve and we particularly welcome interest from candidates from groups currently under-represented on the Board of Trustees.
