As a Trustee you will play a vital role in helping Young Lives vs Cancer to thrive so that families do not face cancer alone.

Are you?

• A finance professional with broad experience across multiple areas of a business in a senior leadership role.

• Listen to the views of staff and volunteers and of supporters and contribute to an environment where staff and volunteers can, and want to, fight tirelessly for children and young people with cancer.

Spike Island is a dynamic arts centre and registered charity that supports, produces and presents contemporary art across an 80,000 square foot former industrial building near Bristol’s harbourside. We run a diverse programme of exhibitions and events; and directly support artists through major new commissions, subsidised studios and development opportunities. We also offer bespoke exhibition services and are home to Emmeline café, workspaces for designers and creative businesses, and UWE Bristol’s Fine Arts programme.

The Board of Trustees is critical in setting and overseeing Spike Island’s mission, and working with the executive team to lead on and enact the vision for the organisation’s future.

The Role:

The Caldecott Foundation provides specialist residential care, fostering families and education for disadvantaged, vulnerable and traumatised young people in the UK.

We are seeking a Trustee with risk management and/or auditing experience. You will join a team of Trustees and staff helping some of the most vulnerable children in our society to build a future and reach their potential.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a leading role for the Board on organisational risk management and audit arrangements. Whilst the organisation currently has expertise in finance and business who can contribute to discussion around organisational risk, the Caldecott Foundation is seeking to add to this expertise, primarily regarding risks concerning Ofsted regulations, reputational and service delivery risks pertaining to working with vulnerable young people.

Whilst applications from all sectors will be considered, it is hoped that this important role can be filled by someone with expertise in social care and, ideally, someone who understands the organisational challenges and risks inherent in working with children and young people.

Our Board meetings are held four times a year. You will also Chair the risk and audit committee, which meet 4 times a year.

Person Description

• Someone with a passion for helping the most vulnerable children build a future and reach their potential.
• Someone with significant experience of operating at a senior level of business, preferably within an organisation which links to children and young people or someone who has worked with children and vulnerable adults in the past.
• Experience of risk management and/or auditing (preferably in a service industry other than finance).

About Us

Abbeyfield Southern Oaks is deeply interconnected with the local community on many levels in the spirit and practice of our vision and values. Residents, employees, trustees, volunteers and service professionals are all drawn from the local area. Abbeyfield Southern Oaks is a not-for-profit organisation. We provide supported housing for people who are still able to care for themselves and wish to remain independent. Our residents generally don’t want the responsibilities of maintaining a house or flat, or a garden, but they’re not ready to go into a care home. We currently have five supported houses with between 4-11 residents in each at any one time.

We also recently developed Nonsuch Abbeyfield, a supportive, vibrant retirement village in Surrey where active, independent living is at its heart. 36 of the flats are owned by leaseholders while the rest are rented at an agreed affordable rent, frequently when residents have been referred by the local council.

Background to the role

With our plans to develop and grow our offer, our current Finance Trustee wishes to step back to focus on other areas and we need to replenish this important range of skills and expertise on the Board.

In addition to our quarterly Board meetings, Trustees may be asked to sit on sub-committees and attend ad hoc meetings. The time commitment will be on average one to two days a month and can be delivered across the year in a flexible way.

Main Responsibilities

Overall purpose of the Finance Trustee role:

• Overseeing the financial affairs of the organisation, providing assurance to the Board of Trustees, and ensuring that they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice
• Ensuring that effective financial policies, procedures and controls are in place, giving expert strategic advice to the executive team to ensure good practice and compliance with charity accounting rules
• Chairing the Finance Committee, a sub-committee of the Board working with the Services Committee, which oversees all financial matters and leads financial planning and practice, reporting to the Board

• A qualified accounting and finance professional or another suitably qualified professional with extensive business management experience.

Art History Link-Up (AHLU) is a registered charity dedicated to making art history accessible to young people from diverse backgrounds. We provide free accredited art history courses to state school students, equipping them with skills that enhance their academic and professional futures. Our mission is to foster a more inclusive and equitable art world by breaking down barriers to participation.

AHLU has been transforming Art History education since 2016 through its flagship ‘Art History for Everyone’ programme. These free-of-charge hybrid courses, taught in partnership with major cultural institutions including The Courtauld and The National Gallery, enable state school sixth-form students to gain an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and/or an A Level in Art History. Each year, demand for these courses significantly exceeds available places. Our students consistently achieve high grades in their A Level and EPQ qualifications.

Over 600 students from over 300 state schools across the UK have studied with AHLU. Many of our students are now studying Art History at Russell Group universities, including significant numbers at the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, and the Courtauld Institute, reflecting the impact of our programme on widening access to higher education. Alumni of our programmes have secured roles at leading cultural institutions, including Christie’s and the National Portrait Gallery, illustrating the professional impact of our programmes.

From 2022 onwards, AHLU piloted Introduction to Art History courses for 13- to-15 year olds in museums and galleries, including Dulwich Picture Gallery, the National Gallery, Sir John Soane’s Museum, the Courtauld and Waddesdon Manor. By 2024, it was clear that students wanted an accredited award as a potential outcome to their studies. In response to this, we began offering Art History Higher Project Qualification (HPQ) courses, which are equivalent to half a GCSE.

AHLU will teach in excess of 200 state students in 2024-5. We have over 80 students on our free Art History A Level and EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) courses for state sixth form students, and c.120 students studying on our free Art History HPQ (Higher Project Qualification) courses for Y9/10 state students this year.

While AHLU fills a considerable skills gap, our charity only hints at the demand: currently thousands of young people who love art, and have much to contribute, are missing out on opportunities. No other charity is doing this work. We are seeking a Chair with the relevant experience and determination who will relish the challenge of making our mission of ‘Art History for everyone’ a reality.

Role Summary 

The Chair of Art History Link-Up will provide strategic leadership, governance, and oversight to ensure the charity fulfills its mission effectively. Working closely with the Board of Trustees, the CEO, and key stakeholders, the Chair will support the charity’s growth and impact while maintaining strong governance and financial sustainability.

As part of our new strategy,  we are looking to invite people with some or all of the following strategic NHS/Commissioning skills on to our Board of Trustees.

• Significant & strategic understanding of integrated care boards (ICBs),

• Understanding of the NHS funding landscape e.g. commissioning and/or NHS Trusts , personal health budgets

• Strategic incentives within the NHS e.g. Joint Strategic Needs Assessments and Health and Wellbeing Strategies

• The evidence and data that is important to the NHS when taking decisions on care pathways choice

You will offer your expertise and guidance in a period of learning, testing and growth for us.

You will bring your knowledge of best practice at both localised and national levels to help the newly formed Business Development team (focused on Music Services and Delivery) achieve targets.

Established in 2011, Kaleidoscope Trust is a UK-based charity fighting to bring about positive legislative, policy and social change for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and gender diverse (LGBTI+) people across the Commonwealth and beyond. We fund, fight for, and empower those upholding the human rights of LGBTI+ people by working with governments, changemakers, and civil society organisations to effect meaningful and lasting change in the lives of LGBTI+ people.
 

At this exciting time for Kaleidoscope Trust, we are looking to find a candidate who can take on the role as Chair of the Board of Trustees to build on the charity’s momentum, while handling the evolving opportunities and challenges of the organisation. The Chair provides strategic leadership of Kaleidoscope Trust in collaboration with the Board of Trustees and the Chief Executive Officer.
 

Overall purpose:

To provide Leadership of the Board as a team, to facilitate and drive the governance and strategic direction of Kaleidoscope Trust and to communicate its values, mission, aims, and objectives.

The post holder will seek to remain both well-informed about the opportunities, challenges, and risks facing the association’s services and will aim to contribute specialist knowledge/expertise to debate and decisionmaking.
 

The Chair of the Board is responsible for ensuring that the Board is effective in setting and implementing the strategic direction of the organisation and can act as a leading ambassador for Kaleidoscope Trust.

We know that diverse boards are the most effective, they can think creatively and hold each other to account, therefore we are particularly looking for applications from trans people, women, People of the Global Majority, people without a degree, working class people and people of faith.

St Ignatius Housing Association looking for new board members to join on a voluntary basis where you will share our passion for reducing homelessness among vulnerable adults and provide housing support service to single adults.

Who we are

St. Ignatius Housing Association provides accommodation for rough sleepers and other homeless applicants. They may have a CHAIN number, but this is not necessary. The accommodation is for single men and women aged 18 and over. The accommodation is not staffed 24 hours. Visiting support is provided during office hours Monday to Friday. We have an out of hours service 7 days a week 365 days of the year with evening welfare checks on residents and telephone numbers for clients to call for welfare.

The role

1) Be passionate about the need to reduce homelessness among single vulnerable adults and providing supported housing services to our residents living in their home

2) to help play a important part in the governance and strategic direction and growth of our organisation and contribute to our mission of reducing homelessness in the borough of Harringay.North London.

3) St Ignatius Housing association is committed to providing a culture of inclusivity and diversity which is fundamental to our values and welcome applications from all sections of the community

4) While experience of working in housing or local government is helpful, we would be not see this as a barrier to a application and would be interested if you have skills and experience in financial sector, NHS , educational and legal work or social work sectors would be an advantage.

Individuals will be required to attend board meetings in person or remotely and in return we will provide personal development through training and support .

As a voluntary position it will not be paid however any reasonable travel and expenses for attendance at meetings will be covered.

THE DETAILS

Feeling Strong is an exciting Dundee-based charity with the ambition to improve the lives of young people living with mental health and wellbeing challenges by fostering the skills, confidence and aspirations they need to flourish. Our services are designed by young people, delivered by young people for the benefit of young people, and we believe that this youth-led/peer-led approach is our biggest asset in tackling issues around mental health and wellbeing. We support stable recovery journeys for young people, lead campaigns to tackle societal issues, develop quality resources based on our own research, and tackle the disparity they face in unemployment, underemployment and accessing opportunities like further and higher education.

YOUR COMMITMENT

Whilst the Trustee Board meets for formal meetings 6 times a year, successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the organisation more widely, taking part in fundraisers, external events, strategic planning and advising the staff team when needed. The average contribution expected of Trustees is around one - two hours per month.

Work-related travel costs will be reimbursed.
