Refugees Volunteer Roles
Could you help us provide safe, suitable accomodation for those most in need?
Refugees at Home connects people with a spare room to refugees and asylum seekers in need of somewhere to stay. We are urgently looking for volunteers to undertake home visits, particularly in the London area.
Home visitors are an essential part of our work. They ensure that placements are safe and suitable and provide a vital link between hosts and guests. The work involves conducting an initial assessment of potential hosts, following up on references and checking in with hosts during the early days of a new placement. This is immensely rewarding work, and many of our home visitors choose to stay in touch with hosts and guests over the longer term. For now, the home visits are being carried out remotely, although we hope to move back to in-person visits soon.
Volunteers will need previous experience in undertaking home visits and to hold a relevant qualification – for example, in social work, nursing or general practice.
We currently have a large number of potential hosts willing to provide a room to refugees, and we urgently need assistance in assessing these placements, particularly in the London area. If you have previous experience of undertaking home visits and would like to join our friendly and supportive team of volunteers then please get in touch!
