PFP is a UK-based charity working in Africa and Asia since 2004, and this year we are celebrating our 20th anniversary. Our Mission is to work together with local people and filmmakers to produce, distribute and show local language educational films that give help and hope to vulnerable and disadvantaged communities. Our latest activities have primarily focused on Malawi, Sierra Leone and Kenya.
Every PFP film seeks to bring about positive change by engaging audiences with themes, characters and subjects that address important challenges facing themselves and their communities.

Primary responsibilities
- Chair quarterly Board meetings and monthly informal catch-ups.
- Lead the Trustees and Directors in developing and advancing PFP’s vision, mission, and strategic goals.
- Provide strategic leadership to the Board and ensure Board members fulfil their duties for the effective governance of PFP. This includes: ensuring PFP is accountable and carrying out its purpose for public benefit; ensuring compliance with the governing document and applicable law; and challenging the management of resources and ensuring financial stability.
- Advise executive management and partners on the design and delivery of programmes across all stages, including partner engagement, filmmaking and distribution, and monitoring and evaluation processes.
- Proactively seek fundraising opportunities, including through the development of relationships with corporate partners, grant-making trusts and foundations, and events.
- Write a review of the year for the Annual Report, and sign-off on the full Annual Report.
- Act as an ambassador and public representative for PFP.

Job description
McAndrew Leadership is a UK-based consultancy that delivers services and training to international development charities, private sector organisations, individuals and others, to enable them to drive their development practices and unleash their potential. This role is ideal for any individual who wants to gain invaluable experience working in the international development sector. Interns are an invaluable part of our team and will play an active role in producing proposals for development projects, conducting in-depth research on development issues, developing training sessions and much more, while making sure that client needs are met as part of their day-to-day tasks. Being exposed to multiple different organisations - each with their own unique characteristics - will give the applicant a wide range of different experiences during their internship.
Research will be focused on sourcing key data and information on international development issues, best practices and practical frameworks for NGOs operating internationally. The successful individual will play a vital role in gathering the knowledge required to achieve client organisations’ strategic objectives and priorities. They will also help to enhance the presence of our consultancy services online through social media, blog posts and website content development.
The main tasks in the role will include the following:
1. Conduct background research on key international development issues in relation to clients' projects.
2. Research funding opportunities that align with the interests of McAndrew’s clients and focus areas.
3. Designing projects for multiple initiatives with different organizations that have a UK and international focus.
4. Writing tailored proposals and grant applications on behalf of clients, to provide them with vital funding.
5. Deliver work to support the growth and development of our clients' membership bodies, most notably the Alliance of NGOs and CSOs for South-South Cooperation (ANCSSC).
6. Research innovative programmes to support clients' work to tackle development issues in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
7. Assist in promoting McAndrew's online presence through social media, blog posts and our website.
8. Supporting the team in creative brainstorms and other tasks.
9. Other task as required by the line manager.

Essential Skills:
1. Qualified to a degree level, preferably in International Development or a related field.

At MHA Communities South London we support older people to live independently in their own homes and communities. We offer a variety of social activities and services for people aged 55 and over.
Some of our MHA community members are socially isolated and feeling lonely. About the role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Smart Works Newcastle Board of Trustees as a Shadow Trustee, someone who can gain experience from the current board in an advisory role. This is great progression into an official trustee role. (A Trustee is a legal term for anyone in a position of trust or responsibility for the benefit of others.)
The Shadow Trustee will support in raising the profile of the Smart Works Newcastle service with the aim of helping younger clients aged 16-25 access the service, advocating for and being the voice of young people, helping shape the service to appeal to the younger demographic offering insight and advice. You really need to be able to put yourself in the shoes of a younger person and give that perspective.
This will enable us to continue to deliver our core service and increase the number of women we can support into work by dressing and coaching women for interview and job success.
This is a brilliant development opportunity for someone with the aspiration and potential to become an advocate for young people in the Northeast.
The time commitment for this voluntary, unpaid role is an average of equivalent of around two days per month, with more time given at busy periods of the year, we are flexible to fit around other commitments. There will be a requirement to attend board meetings four times per year (they are usually 3 hours) and share ideas with the staff team, join board meetings, take part in discussions and inform decision-making. There may also be some mini projects which may or may not include sitting on a working group from time to time. We also run brilliant events around fashion, support, coaching and sales which you can get involved in.
You won’t be thrown in at the deep end and you’d be given support and coaching by the experienced Trustees.

- Advocate for the Centre, raising its profile and the awareness of the Smart Works service for young clients in the north east.

At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, and our fundraising is vital to enable us to continue providing care and support to the children: it costs around £10 million a year to run our care services.
Being a Fundraising Volunteer is an exciting and varied role that helps us to raise money for the children and family we care for. There are opportunities to help at events - from marathons to our Fire and Ice walk, to Christmas markets. You could help with a tombola or raffle, set up and pack away, or simply cheer on participants. You could also stand in a location with a charity collection bucket, collecting change as people pass by or approach businesses to place a charity tin. Role Description:
We are seeking volunteers anywhere in the UK to help out with Study Group sessions for young Refugees or young people seeking asylum. We have continued to keep study group online as it enables community members from across and outside of London to get help and support with homework.
The Study Group sessions are delivered weekly on Zoom, every Tuesday from 5.30-6.30 pm.
Volunteer tasks and responsibilities:
The role of a Study Group volunteer can include:
- Providing learners with homework support; preferably 1:1 in Zoom breakout rooms (may be extended to 1 volunteer to 2 young people in busy sessions).
- Promoting other online learning. ie. Reading an extract of an e-book together/ playing games to learn English/ completing a quiz on a topic of interest.
- Providing social and emotional support to young people. Many of the young people that attend will be quite isolated at this time and will therefore benefit from the social element of Study Group.
- Supporting young people with a range of technical issues relating to their laptop/phone/ zoom.
- Staying for debrief after each session to feedback on what you covered with the Young Person in your breakout room. This offers a space to learn and share resources/ ideas for future weeks with other volunteers.

- Receive support and feedback on teaching from the Project Coordinator through supervision meetings
- Obtain a work reference after three months of weekly (or six months of fortnightly) volunteering.
- Be part of the wider CARAS team and join in other activities with volunteers.
All training and Study Group sessions are delivered online, so you won’t need to travel to the CARAS office in London. No prior experience of online teaching is required, but you will need a laptop or desktop PC with a good microphone and internet connection. You will be required to share your screen on your laptop but all basic Zoom functions can be taught upon induction.

Requirements:
Essential
- To be 18 years or older;
- To be non-judgemental and able to engage with people from diverse cultural backgrounds;
- To be reliable and punctual;
- Excellent communication skills, especially with people with varying levels of English;
- Currently resident in the UK;
- Able to provide five years’ worth of addresses, and willing to undergo a DBS check;
- Able to attend compulsory volunteer induction training (online) general and safeguarding prior to the start of role
- To be able to attend at least 2 sessions every month
- To have a quiet confidential space from which to participate and to provide your own device and microphone with access to zoom
Desirable
- Knowledge of community languages, such as (including Arabic, Tigrinya, Amharic, Pashto, Dari, Farsi, Kurdish, Somali and Spanish).
