The impact a volunteer telephone befriender can have on a lonely individual is amazing and for many of our service users our volunteer telephone befrienders are the only people in their lives who can offer quality time for a nice chat. With just one hour of your time per week you can help provide companionship and support for someone suffering from chronic loneliness.
You will have to complete a DBS check and an Adult’s Safeguarding training, both covered by our organisation.
For this role volunteers will gain:

Time Commitment
Volunteers can give a minimum of 1 hour per week and must commit to a minimum of 3 months. However, the longer you commit to this role the more you will benefit.

We offer ongoing supervision and regular catch ups with team members. The volunteer has the opportunity to meet with fellow volunteers for monthly or bimonthly zoom events.

We are CFK, a project within the Collaborative Health Community (CHC) charity, and we're on a mission to improve children's health by inspiring children and their families to eat more real foods, the way nature intended!
After a successful first pilot partnering with a school in Bognor Regis, we're due to continue our collaboration with the Regis School from September 2024 and are looking for more volunteers to join our fabulous onsite team!

What does the role involve?
- Delivering innovative and engaging 'Collaboration for Kids' (CFK) workshops to 13-15 year olds, designed to inspire them to eat more real foods to improve their wellbeing, health and mental health.
- Working within a small, friendly team to deliver our pilot intervention through a series of weekly face to face nutrition and lifestyle-based workshops starting at the beginning of the school Spring Term (September 2024)
- Building relationships with the school and the students and supporting in the collection of baseline and post intervention data, providing feedback and learnings to assist in continuous improvement and innovation.
Skills and Experience
- Have a genuine and visible passion for nutrition and changing the eating behaviours of teens to help support improved health and wellbeing
- Have a qualification in nutrition / lifestyle or health coaching or something similar (desirable but not mandatory for all roles)
- Have experience and/or feel confident in delivering educational sessions / resources / programmes to Secondary School aged children (full training will be provided)
- The ability to build rapport, engage and inspire teenagers
- Be organised and structured in your approach and delivery style, ensuring CFK materials and key messages are consistently delivered
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills (both visual and verbal) and fluency in English
Availability
We are aiming to deliver a series workshops during the school spring term (on a weekly basis), therefore, are looking for someone who will be able to support this. If you can't do every week but can do most, we'd still love to hear from you. The workshops will be 45 mins - 1 hour long and we will provide full training.

We are lookinfgfor Tin Coordinator in Ledbury
Tin Coordinators are responsible for placing, collecting and replacing collection tins in their local area. This involves going into local businesses (e.g. shops, restaurants, bars) that already have our collection tins approximately every six months to check if the tin is full and replacing it with a new one. Additionally, we would like you to continually be on the look out for new venues who may be willing to have a tin. You know your local area best so are perfectly placed to find new venues!
How much time will it take?
Being a Collection Tin Coordinator is a flexible role and requires relatively low commitment. You can place tins whilst out and about walking, socialising, and running your regular errands. Each tin can stay at a location for at least six months before it will need replacing, and you will only be asked to work with tins in your local area so there is no travelling time.

Our empowered Electrical Items Tester Volunteers support by making sure that all our donated electrical items are fully functional and safe for sale. Shop Volunteering Opportunities

Our shops are at the heart of local communities raising vital funds for our fight against homelessness and bad housing - and they’re powered by our volunteers!
Suggested Involvement: It’s up to you! We have volunteers who support for one hour a week and others who volunteer more. Many people volunteer for a morning or an afternoon each week, but we’ll have a chat about your availability after you’ve applied.

- Volunteering in a leadership role
Our volunteer supervisors help with overseeing the running of our shop and creating a fantastic environment for our customers. You may be involved with coordinating and supporting other volunteers, operating computer systems, and being a key point of contact for the shop.
Skills and Experiences Required:
We welcome applications from people with a wide range of skills and experiences. You don’t need to have volunteered or worked in a shop before as full training will be provided. What’s important to us is that you are a team player, open to learning and willing to follow Shelter’s policies and can be an excellent ambassador for Shelter. We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of bad housing or homelessness.

This hands-on and highly impactful role involves mentoring and encouraging students with learning disabilities to face the challenges of running a business, and learn critical life skills, in a safe space.
Team Programme Volunteers are primarily based within schools/ colleges supporting a group of students with learning disabilities. They will volunteer alongside school staff to ensure the young people are able to flourish. Young people particularly value volunteers who can attend in person as this support their learning and development of social skills.
The time commitment can be variable depending on the particular needs of the group. At most this will involve around one hour per week, attending weekly company meetings throughout the school academic year, however in some cases may be less frequent than this.
What you will be doing
- Coaching, mentoring, and positively supporting young people with learning disabilities and autism through their business adventure
- Attending regular company meetings within the school environment
- Liaising closely with the lead teacher to achieve the best outcomes for young people

Role Summary

The Treasurer will help trustees to carry out their financial responsibilities and this involves working with the Director and Chair to -
- present financial reports to the board in a format that helps the board understand the charity’s financial position
- advise the board on how to carry out its financial responsibilities
- work with professional advisors including the accountant
- work with the Director, Chair and accountant to oversee the preparation and scrutiny of annual accounts
- work with the Director to help prepare budgets and financial reports.
Who are we looking for?
- Demonstrated financial/commercial awareness and knowledge
- Good communication and leadership skills
- Proven ability to communicate and explain financial information to members of the Board and other stakeholders
- Analytical and evaluation skills, demonstrating good judgement
- Competent use of IT skills
- Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
- Strong interest in mental health issues
- Senior strategic management and leadership experience
Desirable:
- Dedicated to the organisation’s cause and objectives and willing to act as the charity’s ambassador to external bodies, charities and companies.
