The Avon Centre is a riding, therapeutic and outdoor-learning centre based in a wonderful woodland setting by Blaise Castle. We are already recognised for our high standards in our work with Disabled people, including physically, sensory and learning Disabled people, and we are branching out into supporting people facing other forms of disadvantages.
The people who use our facilities gain so much in terms of physical and mental-health, confidence and new friendships.
By joining our Board, you’ll be ensuring we can continue to make a real difference to the lives of the children, young people and adults who use our facilities.
We are looking to recruit up to 3 new trustees. You’ll have a commitment to our purpose and ethos, plus experience in one of the following areas;
• HR
• Land and buildings management
• Funding and finance
The time commitment will vary but you’ll definitely get back everything you put in! The minimum commitment is attendance at 4 meetings per year, held in Bristol at the Centre.
We are particularly interested to hear from you if you have lived experience you’d be willing to share to help us make our services even more accessible.
It would be helpful if you already have trustee or other experience of the voluntary sector but not essential. Whether you are an experienced Trustee or wanting to take the first step at Board level, if you share our ethos, we'd like to hear from you.
All Trustees with The Avon Centre are required to complete a DBS (and other) checks prior to their appointment. A copy of our Safe & Fair Recruitment Policy can be found on the website.

Become part of our valued team and help Sight Advice South Lakes develop and thrive
We are looking for committed and enthusiastic team players to join our Trustee Board. We need empathetic and pragmatic people to help take the work of the charity forward in supporting those living with sight loss and raising awareness of the issues surrounding sight loss.
Sight Advice South Lakes is a local charity based in Kendal, Cumbria. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals who are blind or partially sighted in South Lakeland.

Experience of being a Trustee previously is not required, but a willingness to understand the role and responsibilities of being a Trustee, the ability to work collaboratively within a team and a commitment to act in the best interests of the charity is essential. This is an exciting and interesting role with a required minimum level of involvement, but the role can be developed further should this suit.
The role of a trustee is to ensure the charity is working for the benefit of our service users and the public, to support and provide assistance to Claire Park, CEO, on the charity's purpose, vision, goals and activities, and to help the Board ensure the charity is running efficiently and effectively according to its constitution.
Skills:
· To be able to work collaboratively as part of the Board team
· To be willing to fully participate
· To be able to think creatively and strategically
· To be able to offer alternative viewpoints
· To be able to challenge with good intent
· To exercise good judgment and sound decision making
· To be open and listen to staff, management, service users and volunteers
· To be able to make the right decisions for the charity
· To have enthusiasm for our mission and our values
We welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds and particularly those from people living with sight loss. We are happy to receive applications from anyone with knowledge and experience of human resources or marketing, but all applications will be considered.
Applicants should note that although this is a role with responsibility, it is also an exciting and rewarding opportunity.
If you are interested in making a difference, by using your skills and experience for the role of volunteer Trustee, then please contact Claire Park (CEO) for a discussion about the role and the organisation.
We look forward to hearing from you.

About Sense
For everyone living with complex disabilities. For everyone who is deafblind. Sense is here to offer personalised support to help people communicate and experience the world. We believe that no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, should be isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our experts offer support that’s tailored to the individual needs of each person, whether that’s at our centres, through our holidays and short breaks, or in people’s own homes. In addition to practical support, we also provide information to families, and campaign for the rights of people with complex disabilities to take part in life.
Volunteers add real value to Sense, bringing their passion, enthusiasm and fresh perspectives to the work that we do. We believe that volunteers enable us to bring people together, and provide opportunities for people with complex disabilities to communicate and experience the world.
We include. We collaborate. We find a way. We challenge. We celebrate.
